2017-18 TV Season Cancellations: Guess which woman's late night show got cancelled

I'm consistently surprised how a lot of people on GAF don't like this show from what I've seen. Its not remotely my typical kind of show and I don't watch it religiously but my wife does so I see a lot of it, and it has some really beautiful scenes and great acting / performances.

I can easily see why its so huge

It had me hook-line-and-sinker S1. It regularly cleared out my tear ducts. And yet...S2E1 left me flat. Kinda a 'been there, done that' reaction.

Just something I've noticed the past couple days but I'm seeing a ton of people talk about the Will & Grace revival. I'm seeing it all over Facebook tonight and my boss at work was excited to go home and watch it.

TNT’s action drama The Last Ship is currently airing its fourth season and already has Season 5 in the can. But I hear a sixth season is unlikely.

There were a flurry of rumors about The Last Ship coming to an end last week when cast member Travis Van Winkle posted (and subsequently deleted) an Instagram note about wrapping production on Season 5, which he referred to “series wrap,” reminiscing on the show’s five-year run. While the network issued a statement to dispel the rumors, I hear those involved in the series do not expect it to go beyond five seasons.

The Last Ship star Eric Dane was recently approached to star in a new TV series and, while he ended up passing on the project, I hear he had been made available and is free and clear to take other jobs. Additionally, I hear Season 5 is not ending in a cliffhanger, which could’ve been used to write off Dane’s character and would’ve made it harder to end the series.

Batteries the CRISIS!

That's bullshit. I watched that, and it happened in a flash-forward scene at the end of the episode without explanation and you don't even see him definitively die. Blind items are fake news!

Will & Grace with dat 2.9, almost as high as football during that half hour

Elsewhere on NBC, Superstore at a 1.2 is up from its 0.9 season finale but down from last season's regular-night premiere at 1.5. (It had an August episode at 3.0 but whatever.) The Good Place held the same 1.3 from its non-regular-night premiere last Wednesday; they're both up from the 1.1 for last season's finale. Great News at a 1.3 is up big from its season finale of 0.8 and it's even up from its series premiere last year of 1.2 — last night was its highest ratings ever.

The Orrville held its 1.1 from last week, while Gotham with a 0.8 dropped from last week's 1.0.

With a 2.3, Grey's Anatomy is up from last season's finale of 2.0 but down from last season's premiere of 2.5. How to Get Away With Murder with a 1.1 is down significantly from its season finale of 1.5 and last season's premiere of 1.4.

I have to give Orville it's props, it's holding better than I ever though it would. I'm hoping that Gotham adjusts up in the final ratings. Who'd have thought Gotham would be the weaker of the two shows going into their second Thursday?

Yeah, kinda surprising. They've got a Supergirl alien, a gay Klingon, and Seth McFarlane hasn't been totally annoying... yet. Orville looks nice too.

I'm surprised I lasted as long with The Mist as I thought I would. I wanted to see if my episode one prediction about the rape was true or not. It was. So predictable. Terrible show.

What exactly is the appeal of Cinemax in 2017? It's a thing you get with HBO, sure, but why would you actually change channel to it?

Here is, apparently, a list of all of their scripted content:
- Outcast
- Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus

Surely it's not for softcore porn, for which there is no shortage of anywhere, including HBO

Cinemax seemed to carve out a decent niche with some solid programming in the Strike Back / Banshee / Hunted / The Knick era, but they weren't happy with the ratings they were getting versus what they cost. I'm not sure the new programming they're developing is going to fare any better. They have The Boys, Scarlet, and Warrior coming up next.

Like the strong start for Grey's Anatomy.

They literally told it in their blind item

Rumor has it that an hour-long drama series on one of the Big 5 broadcast networks is poised to kill off one of its most popular characters (an original series regular), while tacking on a time-tripping twist straight out of How to Get Away With Murder

Except that, as was discussed earlier, it was actually
The Blacklist
?
The how to get Away with Murder reference is to illustrate the type of time twist, a flash forward. This blind item delivered what was promised.

I saw that. But the episode didn't jump forward in time a la Battlestar Galactica. It spliced a future scene into a present scene, so really, the death didn't happen in the premiere. It showed a glimpse of a death that hasn't happened yet and it'll actually happen in a later episode, not the premiere.

I'm being pedantic and I don't care

Just watched the Will and Grace episode.

It's like they never left.

Only got cringey when Grace said "woke" and "fake news". Everything else was fine.

The cheeto bit was hilarious.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you wrote. I thought you were saying it gave away the show.

It's the first episode I ever sat down and watched. I'm assuming the part before the opening them was them explaining the changes between the last series and now?

One of the few shows where I noticed the laugh track and was really aware of it but still enjoyed the episode. Think I'll keep up with it for at least a few more episodes.

I'm ditching Great News though

Gotham was even better this week than last. I'm liking where this is going.

I'm all in for Inhumans tomorrow and can't wait to eat it up! My guess is probably a 0.6. What is AoS' average at, like 1.5?

Will and Grace: 2.3
