I can believe it is true. Based on other rumors, the next 2016 iphone casing looks too similiar to the 6 and 6S.

2017 is an S cycle release year. Am I missing something or is this the SE update?

Maybe they are changing formula. Sales are not going to be record breaking every year if they keep to the same formula. Have to change it up to spur sales.

Design, yes. But specs? Hell no.

4/4S are beautiful but heavy. Definitely like the 5, and now the SE, more.
The 5 series design is so light it feels like an empty box. Every time I use one it feels like a magic trick.

I really like the industrial look of the 4, but I am certainly with you thinking it's too heavy.

I got my smartphone with the iphone 5. While its a much better phone than the 4s in everyway, i do think the 4s has the best aestithics, so itll be great if i can get something like that.

Obviously talking about the design. It is the best looking phone of all time.
It's a very good looking phone. Personally my favorite design is the 6/6s, I love how the screen looks like is floating. The protruding camera is ugly though.

Well specs are always changing so it's impossible for any device to have goat specs. :3

The 4 definitely had GOAT specs for it's time. Nothing else was hitting 326ppi for a year and a half afterward.
That's true. Actually most iPhones outperform their competitors. Apple tends to make better decisions, like not going overboard with resolution(pushing 1080P instead of wasting performance on 1440P) until the hardware is more than capable. That coupled with having a better optimized OS.

Apple's iPhone 4/4S is the best looking smartphone I've ever seen. The simplicity, fit and finish is second to none. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was a classic Sony device - I wasn't surprised at those iPhone 4-style JONY Sony inspired design leaks.

2017 it is then. My 6 Plus still got to hold out.
Me too. I'm not exactly chomping at the bit for thinness and no headphone jack. It's gotta be a total refresh, because my 2014 6 Plus is still a beast.

Too soon for anyone but Apple to know what the 2017 iPhone will be, leave alone to this degree of precision.

Still, i find the 4/4S design timeless but shrinking top and bottom bezels and making a curved display essentially means it will look nothing like the 4/4S.

Can someone fill me in to why glass backs are preferred?

I've hated using it on the Nexus 4. Smudges and fingerprint magnet plus it cracks super easily compared to more durable materials such as a polycarbonate.

Sure it looks good but that's only the immediate out-of-the-box experience.

The 6s felt like the the most minor YoY upgrade for an iPhone so far. The 7 looks to be another blah update.

Hopefully they can pull out a hype Apple Watch 2 at least.

Maybe to you the 6s felt minor. It's been probably the most well received s upgrade in the wider culture.

Ming-Chi Kuo is one of the most knowledgable and accurate Apple Analyst's on the planet with proven reliability and sources. Do your research before you write this off as coming from some anon on 4chan or reddit.

I know who Ming-Chi Kuo is dear smartass and i stand by to what i said, it's not like he has never been wrong... just recently he said that the Apple pencil would take advantage of the 3d touch of the soon to be released (at the time) iPad Pro 12.9 or like that time when he said that the 5S was going to have 128GB of storage...

I may need to get on that Upgrade Every Year plan but not for the bigger 5.8. I'd do it for another sub-5 inch update

So long as the outer body looks the same as 7 though, I'll keep my 7

I wonder what people like about the 6s, the best thing seems to be live photos. 3D touch I never use and it just makes it harder to move app icons around on the springboard.

It looks sexy and not all of us break and grime up our phones

Why the f would they take on AMOLED when it's way less color accurate and looks worse. iPhone has touted one of the most accurate displays in phones ever since the 5

If it's not sapphire crystal glass (and let's face it, it won't be, Apple would not cannibalise their accessories/cases like that) then do not want. I really appreciate how tough the series 7 alloy is on the 6S, whilst being light.

Why would you want them to use a more brittle and more reflective material for the screen? Sapphire crystal isn't good for bigger than a watch display. It is harder to scratch, but weakens easier than glass on any moderate sized display and thus will likely crack easier.

Dammet! I had all these plans to go from 5s to 7 plus. But now? I might as well - I don't even know if I should wait or not.

The misinformation about OLEDs reminds me of how early plasma TV issues still shaped the conversation years after they were remedied.

OLED TVs are often gorgeous. AMOLED on Samsung was awful blue tint and inaccurate for years (and some still are). Even as they improved them, they still remained inaccurate compared to iPhone.

Then that might be the first Apple mobile I switch to as my go to after predominantly being with Android for a few years now. I know a lot of ignorant people think LCD is comparable to AMOLED, and some even think it's better, spouting nonsense like AMOLED being less accurate in colours, white balance etc, but it's because those people are misinformed or out of touch with the vast progression the display tech has seen over the last several years. AMOLED right now is in a different league, better in every single metric. The fact that Apple isn't using it yet is a massively disappointing.

Right, I'm the smart ass because Kuo is wrong "99%" of the time, like you posted. Riiight.

Their phones have color modes and the default one is an artificially oversaturated mode on many, if not most models. 'Basic' mode its called, I believe. No phones are currently 100% accurate.

Set to 'Basic' mode, the newer Samsung AMOLED's are more accurate than any mobile display on the market. Including in colour accuracy and white balance.

2GB RAM, 4K video, improved materials and chassis durability, 2nd gen Touch ID (which had backlash after launch for being too fast!), the blazing A9 processor. Citing live photos as the biggest improvement is disingenuous.
