Hmmmm, I was gonna upgrade my iPhone 6 this year.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
if iPhone 7 will not feature a redesign, and instead will continue using the 6/6S design, then it might prove that they are holding off until 2017 for the AMOLED redesign, in which case I'll definitely wait. Or maybe buy a cheap Nexus to hold me off.
The 7 is supposed to resemble the 6, but the plastic antenna bands will be different.

Supposedly. Based on some renders or prototypes.

I just want confirmation that the bezels are still thick so I don't feel bad when I buy a 6S+ in a few weeks.

I don't know how I'd feel about a curved screen, really don't like the edge on some samsung phones. If it's a really subtle curve to reduce bezels I think it'd be nice.

The iPhone 4 design is still my favorite, it also was really nice to hold so I never used a case and it never got damaged for the 3 or so years I had it. I'd love to see something like that back, with the metal parts on the edges matching the color of the phone more. I hope this rumor goes through, I'll probably upgrade my phone around that time so a redesign would be nice.

More info on an all glass iPhone 7 for 2017 and a modest 6 refresh in 2016.

In a new report by KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo, the reliable Apple analyst claims that the iPhone will be seeing a major redesign in 2017, dropping the iconic aluminum casing for an all-glass enclosure with AMOLED screen. This follows on from another of Kuo’s reports in late March, where he first suggested Apple will return to an iPhone design akin to the iPhone 4. It does not seem like the iPhone 7 for 2016 will be seeing such a major overhaul, breaking Apple’s tick-tock pattern of a significant chassis redesign every other generation.

2017 is when I'll be able to move on to my next phone. I did enjoy the 4S design and the glass (it never cracked on me despite how much i dropped it without the case). The 2017 iphone is also the one that's suppose to not have a headphone jack though right?

I enjoy my S6 Edge, but wouldn't mind switching back to apple.

Surfing dark themed Mobile GAF on an Onyx Black S7 Edge is a majestic experience.

Not gonna lie - I think it would be kind of crazy for me to do this, but if I see an a slickdeal for the S7 Edge Int'l, despite me not liking big phones, I'll be tempted to sell my S7 on Swappa and offset the cost in order to get the black onyx S7 edge with the God-tier battery life. I need to confirm if the Int'l variant has T-Mobile 12 band LTE though..

IPhone
IPhone Plus
IPhone SE

Make it so. This numbering thing is annoying.

Dang, where does this leave people who want to switch to iPhone? Buy an 6s now, wait for mild 7 refreash? What about the iPhone pro?

And here i was ready to go all out on my first day one iphone this year :/ maybe i should just get the SE and wait 1.5 years.

Apple is going to have a hell of a rough year if their selling line is "thinner 6s with same battery (questionable if its thinner) and we took out the headphone jack"

Everyone has been clamoring for thicker phones with more battery and trotting out a tired design (huge bezels) isn't going to excite anyone when the hardware is 3 years ahead of the software anyways. A10 will probably be legit on benchmarks but ultimately it isn't going to matter until 2018 so who cares.

You know what's more annoying?

Initial ambiguity that leaves the fans to make up stupider names or use "Gen [numbering here]."
Cars do it just fine. Computers.

I'm buying a 6s, selling my 6plus. This way I'll only lose out a lil on cash. Then I'll play the waiting game.

Just realized when looking at this thread title that this will also be the 10th anniversary iPhone

I was looking forward to the iPhone 7 - but it seems like the 2017 phone will bring the big changes/improvements. Hmm....

I'm wondering if they'll even call this year's phone iPhone 7. Maybe it'll be iPhone 6SE, and next year the big refresh is iPhone 7.

i'd love if they went back to a design like the 4/4s/5/5s. the only thing i don't like about iphones are the huge bezels. give me a 5.5"/6" iPhone with minimum bezels and inspired by the 4>5S and I will be right on it.

That's completely beside the point? Why would you design a phone which can shatter the back when there's materials which don't shatter?
Aluminium doesn't shatter but bends and dents, and besides an aluminum unibody design means you can't easily replace the back, unlike a replaceable glass back in a sandwich design.

There's always a trade-off, and it's fine to go to the glass back for a change. After all, everyone's phone already have a huge glass and it's not a big deal at all.

I personally never shattered a phone's display glass ever, or my iPhone 4's back when I owned it for 2 years.

I will keep my Iphone 6 until next year then. I loved the iPhone 4 design. make it heavy like the first gen iPhone 4 too please. it felt so great in my hand.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I own a 6 plus but I think I can wait a bit longer to upgrade if Ios10 doesn't make it much slower

This sounds significantly more attractive than the 6/6s. Too big and running iOS, but much prettier. The 6 really is a dog of an iPhone design. The worst since the 3G.

If my iPhone 6S Plus slows to a crawl thanks to new iOS versions by this time then I'll grab one. I'm really hoping the 6S Plus will last me a good 2 or 3 more years before it becomes too slow.

Will definitely jump on this if true. The iPhone 4 is still the best design they ever did IMO, and using a Galaxy phone has shown me just how nice AMOLED really is.
