Has it ever been stated that the President would be landing in LA? I can't remember.

Also, anyone have any further info about the game? I hope it's not just a rumour.

Yes please. Actually, if anyone has a way to distribute the preview for us Canadians, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, my memory of it is already hazy, but here are two features from it:

-Somebody's family or friends get taken hostage. I believe that they were related to Edgar from his reaction shot.

-Paul is still alive, but one of the medics exclaims that "he's bleeding out!" or something, so his survival is not assured.

Ok, now we know what the secondary plot really is! And with that, I know how the rest of the season will play out:

Spoilers
Not next week, but possibly the week or two after, they will succeed in their plot against the President. At which point Palmer will return for the final six hours as President as Jack fights The Mummy to the death.

Totally baseless specualtion, but
who else is wondering if Heller may be in on this? His "president should stay in the air" comment, and now a guy in an Air Force uniform going after the President...?

Like I said, totally baseless but hey, this IS 24...

best episode yet this season. stabbing people in the back of the head is now the best use of a pointy object...ever. michelle is still hot, but she needs to let her hair down or something.

edit: speculation:
you know, i don't think a plot on the president's life is really where this season is going. they haven't made any effort to establish this president as a character, and last season he was a total douche. would anyone particularly care about his fate?

Also, is it just me or did that military guy look like Conan o Brian? :lol

I thought maybe they got him after those 60 parodies

Tottally off topic, but does anyone think Jack's girlfriend has gotten more cute as the Season has progressed?

Initially I thought she was a butterface, but now I'd have to say she's definitely shagable.

*watching it now*

Hey, I just remembered: Isn't Habid Marquan the same guy who played the bad guy in "The Mummy"?

Curtis: "[Jack is] actually drawing them"

*Michelle looks at Tony, realizing that he was right all along*

Wouldn't have been funny if Tony yelled out, "BOO YAH!!" :lol

I thought it was funny that Jack & the gang had taken out all the mercs and CTU only shot the one guy from Mclennan-Forrester.

Have you even been reading this thread? Or for that matter any of the 24 threads for the last few episodes? God dman, it has been said about 70 times now, YES IT'S THE MUMMY It wouldent be so bad if you posted that before about 4 people refered to THE MUMMY in this very thread.

Anyway, AWSOME EPISODE! I didn't think it was POSSABLE for Jack to get more bad ass, than he stabs that leader in the kneck, I had a feeling that Jack had a extra special kill in mind for him, funniest thing is that guy probably thought Jack actualy missed before, and probably thought he stood a chance this whole time.

I was a little suprised at Michale though, she was a little cold, but you know by the end of the season she'll be in Tony's arms.

I have a little baseless speculation as well:
Anyone else think there's a chance CTU will be attacked, or at the very least Michale will come under threat, Tony will save her and expidiate the whole them getting back together thing?

I can't belive no one has mentioned it before, but I was a bit suprised they fired that other CTU hotty, damnit I forgot her name. Discroll fires Chloe, and now Michale fires her. Man :lol at this point I wouldent be suprised if by the ned of the season Chase is back, along with Kim and Milo, Discroll tried so hard for a new staff, and in 1 day, the old are returnig.

Great episode.

Except that setting off an EMP doesn't help McLennan-Forster conceal evidence -- the magnetic platters on a hard disk are immune to EMP, and so are tape backups.

Sure you'll toast the electronics, but the data stored on the disk platters won't be wiped... plus now that you've screwed all the drive's electronics, you can't format and secure-overwrite the data that IS on the disks and the government will be able to recover everything. :-)

Oh well.

Working, tortured, back to working, fired in the same day.

I'll never complain about a bad day at work again. ;)

Fucking Michelle, why doens't she listen to Tony!!!
Curtis: Tony you were right, he's actually drawing them in!
Did Jack just do what I think he did with the knife?
Paul just saved Jack! He went from the initial punk-ass dude I imagined him to be when he was first introduced to being...well...not a 24 character I hate...

Wow what a great episode. Can't wait till next week!

Hey, this is set a few years in the future, maybe they're using solid state memory for everything.

friggin paul..dumbass... why wasn't he wearing protection?
Heh, I edited that out because I'm not sure if he was wearing kevlar. I dunno, I might be remembering the scene wrong, because he's not wearing any in that gif there.

I was half hoping that Palmer would show up at the sporting goods store to help Jack before the ctu guys did. I think it woulda been great if he was sporting that gun that Jesse Ventura uses in Predator.
Im wondering how they will work him into the story.

Would that be a spoiler there, jackass?

Palmer? HA! Like right...although this season IS setting a precedent of returning characters showing up to save the day, not gonna happen.

I thought this episode wasn't as amazing as the rest of you seemed to find it. I mean, it was really good, but it just felt like your run of the mill 24 Action Standoff episode. Cool gunfight, good intrigue, but it was missing something to me.

The one thing that pissed me off was the fucking annoying "Hand moving" scenes. I know that it's a form of suspense, us knowing something the characters don't. But for once in one of those scenes, I'd like to MYSELF shit my pants when he suddenly pops up from behind Jack's shoulder and points his gun at him. It's so lame to get the various setup shots, like they're treating us like idiots.

Interesting idea. I think you're right, it would've been awsome if the guy just pulled the gun out of nowhere and shot at Jack. Would go better with 24's style of sudden suprise action.

I think the previous poster really meant have you read any of the 24 threads this season because it's previously been mentioned a few times that Arnold Vosloo is Habib Marwan.

Does anybody have any early reports on 24's ratings last night?

For celeberties popping up on 24, nothing will beat Dennis Hopper's sudden appearence in the
first
season. NOT EVEN THE MUMMY!

take a chill pill boogie. Its obvious that this all new cast thing wasnt going to last, they have been slowly reintroducing the big characters back into show. After the revelation of the new terrorist plot involving the president, it was highly speculated in last weeks thread that palmer could return soon. He seems like the next logical step besides a 1 handed chase.

anyhow, i thought it would have been great if we saw palmer save jack like tony did earlier in the season.

heres a spoiler carl weathers is the terrorist master mind behind all of this

oh and jack's kill count is 26 for the season :)

Ah, so now you're trying to make what you said murky to cover whether you're talking about spoilers or not.

I swear, if Palmer shows up now, I'm going to invent a device that allows you to reach through the internet and punch someone and beat the shit out of you, cubanb :P

Kiefer Sutherland was on Jay Leno a few months back I think, and there was some talk about cast members returning such as Dennis Haysbert and Elisha Cuthbert. He doesn't really say anything except maybe, but the "maybe" was very "yes-ish" especially for Dennis Haysbert returning.

Dude, I was at least attempting to feign ignorance; stop throwing around the link, because you might as well be TELLING them outright with that kind of behaviour. I've known about that spoiler since before the season began. But, that doesn't really bother me; half the fun of 24, for me, is figuring out where it might go, and knowing that Palmer is involved doesn't answer all of the questions. But, seriously, after all of this talk about it, anyone who reads this thread will have it figured out. You all suck at subtlety.

Hey, funny, I checked last week's thread, and there wasn't ANY FUCKING speculation about him outside of the spoiler tags.

It's bad enough you post spoilers, but then when called on it, you don't acknowledge it or apologize, but rather keep trying to defend yourself on it.

So yeah, in conclusion, fuck you.

Holy shit, nice killing move Jack! :lol

Who's next at CTU from the new guys? Ronnie (Jack Bauer wanna-be) was killed in episode 2, Driscoll left because of her daughter, and Sarah got pwned by Michelle. Only Curtis and Edgar left. :lol

24 am awesome!

CloudNL said:

The only two that seemed to have the potential to match up with the old crew (not so much Edgar, but Chloe believed in him so he had to be good) are the only ones left. I just love how when Driscol took over, she hired the most worthless people available.

Oh man, time is running out for my 'Tony is evil' premonition to come true...he HAS to be, EVERYONE trusts the guy so he's gotta be evil, right? Only Jack is allowed to be that clean.

And i cant work out who sucks more, the mercenaries who couldnt take down 3 civilians and a CTU agent (Ok he has Bauer power but still..) or the CTU tactical squad who didnt even verify their kills. How many times has Castles team fucked things up now? 2, 3?

Oh well.

How would HD data be immune to an EMP blast? A magnet controls the placement of the metallic particles on the platters which represent its binary data. Wouldn't that getting hit by a giant magnetic blast destroy it? Wave a powerful magnet over a HD or VHS tape, etc, and see if that sucker is still working.

Except an EMP is not the same as waving a super-powerful magnet across something. Waving a magnet near your TiVo might cause the HD data to be corrupted, but it won't make the electronics fry.

I think what the EMP does is induce a high voltage in the circuitry, thereby overloading capacitors, resistors, transistors, and diodes. Overloaded components = no worky. The HD platters themselves are not physically connected to the rest of the circuitry (even the r/w heads don't come in physical contact). The most you'd lose would be the areas that the r/w heads were hovering over when the EMP hit, and that's easily fixable with a consistency check.
