We miss you, Bill!

But at least he did get a semi-good sendoff.

edit: Michelle though, I still miss Michelle. Maybe she has a twin or something.

Jack Bauer in fully decked armored gear taking on Logan's bulletproof limo is one of the most amazing things I've seen on TV.

Plot sounds awful. Jack saving the world from the evil whistleblowers. Vomit.

Have you not learnt anything from 24 seasons 1-8?

Season 1

Initial threat - Kidnapping, Assassination Plot.
True threat - Drazens.

Season 2

Initial threat - Nuke.
True threat - Kingsley

And so on - perfect example is Season 5. Who predicted THAT twist?! All I'm saying is that you can never presume anything with 24 apart from of course, the fact that the initial threat is never the main one (apart from maybe Season 3).

Do you think there is a chance that this does insane in the ratings making them want to bring back the series and not just a 12 episode event or whatever?

According to Howard Gordon, that's the plan.

I need to finish season seven. I got up to the point where
the President was in the safe room and the terrorists were threatening to kill her daughter
and then my school schedule got messed around and I didn't get to see the rest of the season.

Has Fox ever said if this is going to be a one off or if it's going to be the start of a new series? If it's going to be a one off to fill a weak schedule, I hope the writers come up with a good ending for the series this time.

I thought this was a new Bond movie thread.

I don't think EON are stupid enough to ever, ever reference Die Another Day ever again.

Howard Gordon has stated the aim is for it to kick off a new series.

I have an inkling that this will never happen but I want Nina to be resurrected and Mandy to somehow make a return.

Can't wait. I always wondered how good the show could have been if they wrote it in advance and didn't need so much filler. I just hope the writers are hungry.

I thought Audrey was a pretty good gf for Jack. She's smart, she's not too annoying. More than I can say for most of his women.

I think a big chunk of 7 was done in advance.

Do you think there is a chance that this does insane in the ratings making them want to bring back the series and not just a 12 episode event or whatever?

I feel like they've seen the success of game of thrones/homeland/walking dead and think they can replicate that kind of success on regular TV. 24 is the safest way to experiment with it. Used to be an event but now they can actually advertise it like one.

I'd like to see Mandy back. They should get everyone they can back together and do a season as a proper conclusion to the season two story. I hate that you have to play a crappy game to get any resolution to that season.

There's a definite point where you can tell the showrunners discovered the season would be the last. From that point on, it's absolute fucking chaos and 100% Bauer. It's basically the best example of Jack Bauer as an unstoppable, unforgiving, armageddon bringing force of nature.

Yeah but his motivation was awful. Cool scenes but the story was terrible.

Yeah the writers really went all out towards the end. The episode where Jack caught the Russian sniper was fucking crazy even for 24.

Jack chained him to a steel pole, tortured him with pliers, beat him to a pulp, poured lighter fluid on him, then lit his ass up with a blowtorch... after that he realizes "you dumb bastard, you swallowed it" and cuts a fucking hole through the guys chest and rips out his intestines looking for a SIM card.
Incredible.

I remember there was like six "graphic violence, viewer discretion is advised" warnings throughout the episode lol.

I honestly liked having this kind of freelancer who would pop up at times. She seemed to literally be about the money and give no fucks like everyone else.

She's really just the 24 version of Ada Wong. Except Ada wasn't forgotten about as the series went on. :p

Just to continue a NeoGAF tradition, I have to say it would have been awesome if Idris Elba was brought in as Jack Bauer's local counterpart.

And Cumberbatch can be the Prime Minister.

That's a thing - the UK PM is pretty much a dead cert as a major part in this, isn't he? Bauer's in London fucking his shit up. Who's the best candidate to play the prime minister? It needs to be someone on the same calibre as Devane in terms of screen presence.

I never did get round to watching season 5 though I've had the box set for years.

Baron Aloha

A Shining Example
Wait, I did not know Audrey was in this. I skipped out on most of season 8 but the last I saw of her she was brainwashed by the Chinese or some shit to just repeat "help me Jack" over and over. Me and my friend both thought that was hilarious. Will tune in for sure now.

Edit: also hyped that
Carlos Bernard is might be returning

Neat bit of trivia:

Annie Wersching (Renee Walker) voiced Tess in The Last of Us. First role in a game, I understand.

I liked that show, no matter how silly it was.
My favourite character was probably logan.

I'll watch this with GAF, I'm sure its gonna be a blast.

Hyped as hell. The bar for action series has been raised considerably, but 12 pre-written eps makes me confident it will deliver.

I know it was huge in the UK. The show's early success was partly because it was so popular in the UK. BBC had it at first and put it on at a prime time slot. Then Sky bought it and advertised the hell out of it
