This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
He's gonna need a hacksaw.
Pretty much the best scene in anything ever.
Has this question been answered?
Will watching the original 8 seasons be required to watch this?
It has been addressed, yes, and it's not required though there will likely be some character moments (and if I have my way some cameos) that original viewers will appreciate. So while it's certainly not necessary, I think you should... because it's some of the best, most exciting TV ever.

This pleases me and I'm happy to hear this.
I fully intend on watching all of 24 but I don't think I could watch it all in time for this.
After watching this I'll go back and watch the original series.

Looking forward to this. For those of you who have not watched Strikeback I strongly recommend it as it will likely scratch the same itch. It's a bit less spy/intrigue focused and a bit more action focused, but it's quite good.

Is this going to just be a one and done like a series reunion type thing or is the concept that they will continue to make 24 miniseries going forward?

I thought I heard this depends on the ratings and they might continue with the new format down the line. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

You are correct. FOX Chairman Kevin Reilly answered this same question in a interview after it was announced 24 was coming back. (May 2013)

So, if it’s successful, this could be an annual event again?

KEVIN REILLY said:
REILLY: It could. I really do not see this becoming a regular series, but could it come back? Yeah. I don’t know if it would be annual. These event series are going to be stand-alone events. We want to give the audience something where they say, “That is an appointment show, and there’s going to be a beginning, middle and end. I don’t have to follow it season to season.” But some of these, and that will include 24, could have franchise-ability. There could be sequels. I don’t know if it would be yearly, but we certainly could reload something that comes back, 18 or 24 months later, and people are even that much more excited to see it. That would be great.

Basically stating that 24 is no longer classified as a regular television series, but now considered an "Event Series" something that FOX is pushing that is similar (or the same?) to a mini series like HBO's Band of Brothers, The Pacific etc.

Also if 24 is going to cast anymore actors they need to cast Henry Ian Cusick (LOST). This actor was a guest star in 24 Season 5 playing a character named Theo Stoller who was a German Intelligence Agent. Being that 24 takes place in Europe this time it would be a nice plot point to bring back.

Will Jack try and open a hatch in the opening episode?

Nice callback! Yes they have no excuse to not bring him back.

So as we previously guessed, it's confirmed now that James Heller is
president of the United States

excellent!

I love 24, but if this is meant to be a "reboot," it might be wise to leave some of the more obscure two-three episode characters at bay instead of drawing them in for story just because you can.

Part of the reason 24 got so long in the tooth in the latter couple of seasons is because of their refusal to let go of old storylines and trying to keep continuity for their fanbase (I'm looking at you, China and the Bluetooth Mafia).

Then again, the only continuity specific characters that haven't been announced yet that I want to show up are Tony and Pierce.

Love Tate Donovan since Damages. Can't wait for this.

Started watching again from Season One in anticipation, and it holds up incredibly well even with the Nokias, flip-phones and phones with aerials.

Hard to watch season one again when you get the feel the first time you see Nina.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment

This is amazing. Heller was one of my favorite characters and I thought the relationship between Jack and Heller was really interesting.

Also, as a refresher, what was the reason Jack is in hiding? I can't remember all the intricate details from the series finale.

Interview here with how they want to go back to the feel of season one, with the smaller stakes and intimate feel. Season One was definitely up there as one of favourites for that reason so sounds good to me!

Kiefer Sutherland, 24’s Returning Action Star, Will Wait You Out

"Later on, Howard and I used to sit and drink and go, ‘I remember when it was small, man. When we were doing the drama, the stuff that made people feel.’ We’d lament over that, and by the end of it, we’d be like, ‘So, we’re gonna blow up that family, right?’ ‘Yeah. Probably. I can’t think of anything else to do.’

Apparently filming starts in Sunday? Think i might spend the day walking around central looking for film crews....

Haha, oh Chloe, you're so crazy.

edit: I remember when season 3 first came on and she made her first appearance. I figured, and hoped, she wouldn't last long on the show. Oh, how wrong I was. She did grow on me though.
