-Jack Bauer being Jack Bauer.
-Bauer's "DAMNIT" at the very end.
-Chloe doing the Chloe face nearly the entire time.
-Chloe half-heartedly telling someone "I'm sorry"
-Mini-CTU on wheels
-Presidential assassination plot involving rich white guys manipulating public consciousness and blaming things on terrorists/military.
-Chloe's face again
-Jack Bauer punching people
-Disposable patsy with seasonal plot device killed and betrayed by obviously evil girlfriend.
-BEEP BEEP BEEP

Yes yes yes this is the 24 I know and love give it to me.

A dozen men armed with handguns and semi automatics running around a council estate and not a policeman in sight by the end of it? Maybe they were all still stuck at the traffic incident with the motorbike.

Was impressed with the preparation the CoS was giving the President with regards going to Parliament. Most accurate depiction of the House of Commons in TV for a while.

Great fun though. Yvonne is too distracting.

They are catching real criminals, speeding motorists. No time for the small fry.

Sucks, there were bits of season 6 that were great. Jack with the Shotgun, Jack's fight with Fayed, Gredenko being a clone of Boris The Blade.

But man, that Family inclusion was miserable. Just retconned a shit down Season 5 and the bluetooth gang. That, and the Chinese reintroduction with Audrey....oy.

To show you how down the ratings of shows in the here and now, compared to the recent past, Season 6 of 24 averaged 13 million total viewers, but a 5.0 share in the 18-49 rating, placing it 14th overall for that year (2006-2007). Today, 5.0 would probably easily be the #1 show on television. Season 6 started with the most watched episode of 24 ever, with 15.7 million watchers.

Think 24LAD was notched up a 0.1 over the early numbers (2.6) 8.08 million viewers.

Not a bad start. Not sure who I'd peg as the CIA mole just yet.

I'm thinking that there might not be a mole this season, or at least not in CIA. The Adam-subplot seems almost like a mirror of Jack in season two after his loss of Teri. I'm hoping that it's like they've started the season from the half-way point, which I know isn't technically the case as we're still covering twenty-four hours, the mole has already been discovered, and we're progressing from there.

Either way though, I was still glad to see some tropes return, the typical attack on CTU, the single competent agent amongst a wave of people who dismiss her, and the very obviously evil girlfriend being used, to dispose of the early-arc patsy and retrieve the device, by the rich and powerful individual behind the scenes. This show is not the best written, best acted, or most tightly plotted show, but it's a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the opening episodes.

(not spoilers)
Oh who am I kidding, there'll be a mole. Maybe it'll be in mini-CTU though rather than the CIA building.

How many kills does Jack have, surely there is a wiki doc about this?

I saw that nobody replied to this, so I'm unsure if you've found it/are already aware of it or not but there's a very comprehensive list here on the 24 Wikia. It's 270 prior to the beginning of this season.

So Kate (the new blonde chick) played Miranda in Mass Effect 2.

Read a couple pages and yeah I guess that was common knowledge. She was in Dexter too apparently. Good first episode.

I shot people I like more for less.

Even though Die Hard did it first (albeit in a likely unheard way :p), that "say hello to your brother" line was just undeniably badass.

Those 2 episdes, so great man. The DAMMIT! and the...You might think I am at a disadvantage, but I'm not line killed me. I was GET EM BOSS!

I just hope when Jack comes face to face will Heller and does something badass we get "ages hasn't slowed you down one bit" I know its a long shot and probably wont happen, but damn I can dream.

Very happy with the debut episodes. Good amount of action, interesting story intro and already a classic cheesy betrayal. I love it.

Have 24 queued up but was gonna do something else. How good was last night's premiere? Long-time fan of the show but got tired of it towards the end

My guess for the mole would be:

Someone from the military covering up any leftover evidence of the drone hijacking. It will come out through the hacker group that it was covered up causing more tension in the debate between Heller and UK politicians.

As long as the mole isn't inside the CIA / CTU surrogate, I'm okay with it.

My gut instinct agrees.
my guess, the guy who interrogated him. He had some odd looks at Star Wars kid.

she was in her prime back then, and the pokies in that tight white shirt

but yeah it was really bad. I laughed out loud when it turned out her subplot had actually no connection at all to anything

Kim's the sole reason why I can't re-watch season 2. Her story is just so bad.

Yeah S2 Kim's story line was by far the strangest thing ever, you could cut that complete story line out minus two scenes (the first one where Kim and Jack talk, and when Jack says "goodbye" to her). It's also the only time in all of 24 that I can remember where a plot point was completely dropped in the mountain lion who was introduced at the end of one episode and written out of existence in the next

Weak opening!

Not impressed! The opening capture should have been done amazingly! Reminds me of previous weak 24 episodes. It felt like a filler episode, not a premiere.

For a show that so prides on being "realtime", I've yet to see a wicked long 5min shot, like True Detective pulled off!!

Season 1 is great. Season 2 is the true brilliance. It is, dare I say, awesome.

I would love season 2 more if it wasn't for that damnable cliffhanger finale that was wrapped up in a sentence in season 3 (or if you treat the game as canon, but come on, Jack Bauer vs earthquakes?)

But otherwise I agree season 2 is awesome. I've toyed fast forwarding through the Kim stuff when I watch it with the in-laws.

I just finished watching the 2 episodes that I recorded on DVR, finally got to see Jack and Chloe back in action! It's classic 24 and shit's going to get even realer, I wonder who the endboss is going to be, because you just know Margot and her daughter are just one piece of the puzzle. Loved the Damn It! (TM) and it's nice to see Heller and Audrey again. Mark is the asswipe who every fan will hate haha, hope bad things happen to him. Jack better get some more epic fistfights and gun battles.

I think it would be interesting if the producers flip the mole concept on its head, as they are obviously as self-aware about it as the fans haha. Or just have no mole at all since that's apparently already been done. Now all we need is Mr. Almeida to make amends for his horrid send-off last season.

Except they already did that in Season 3...

Wow, chick that plays Chloe is 42 years old. I still see her as a young it nerd.

Good start. Still some of the best build up and action on tv. Wish they didn't have to give me feels with Hellers condition though :(

Sorry, been a while, which one was that? I last watched S3 like 6 years ago haha.

The guy Kim suspects being a mole (and who had been shifty as hell all season) turned out to be undercover as a mole. He is the one the virus vial in the hotel blows up on.

Ah yes, that guy. Forgot his name too haha.

I love how some people on the show subreddit are going off about logic errors and product placement. It's freaking 24, we're here for Jack wrecking people and crazy terrorist plots/moles, screw realism. Heck, I would love it if George Mason came back from the dead (maybe with a full head of hair!)

In from one ear, out from the other. Bauer beating the odds time and time again like on autopilot.

Chloe is dreadful. Looks like someone out of a pad punk movie. The most annoying character ever on a TV screen is back. Can't tell who's worse, the character or the actress. That freaking look she gave to the Serb and her facial expressions - just like in the old days. So annoying.

I was referring to season 2 of Chuck. But with 24, season 2 is awesome, but not as great as season 1 or 5 in my opinion.

Season 1 and 5 are a toss up for best season to me, with 2 being third. The biggest problem with season 2 (let's forget the Kim stuff) is that the final third just feels wasted once they detonate the nuke.
Season 4 is probably the most ridiculous and over the top, but it the most consistent in quality from beginning to end, so it would have to be 4th on my list. 3 had a crummy first half, but fantastic second half once Saunders showed up.
