Where are you located? Here in Bangkok, yes, the scene was there, but there was a cut
soon after they started kissing and then suddenly they were naked and covered up after they were finished
. Bullshit.

Philippines. Yes that's what happened here too. Imagine getting worked on pretty good then suddenly going into post sex scenario without having nutted. Ridiculous.

It happens so rarely, given our different preference in genres, but I love it when the Count and I enjoy the same movie. His enthusiasm for film is intoxicating. I look forward to 300:RoaE to be like Hobo with a Shotgun in that regards.

I went and saw it again last night. Perhaps even more awesome a second time.

Noticed something interesting, might be coincidental. In the first film, the emissary demands of Leonidas a token offering of earth and water. The first film is devoted to land-based combat and the second water-based.
Interesting call back.

Also, in the first, the emissary offers Leonidas a bundle of crowned skulls. In the second, we see
those heads, but with the flesh still on them.
Having just rewatched 300 (at least the first half until my HD-DVD started skipping :/) I did remember those skulls when I saw RoaE.
It was cool to see them with their faces still in tact.

For those wondering about
the climactic horse ride
, Themistocles does have a line of dialogue just prior to that scene that sets up the surprise. Its appearance was not accidental; it was strategic.

I didn't know that there was any confusion around that. I've only seen it once, but I remember him saying something like
"Did you bring our special cargo?"
to one of the other Athenians, to which the guy said something like
"Yeah, I packed it down below."
Which made it all the more awesome when you find out what it was.

Two questions:

1.
Is that the same horse that smashed one of the Persian's faces in right at the beginning (aka the Themistocles arrows Darius scene)? Or was it just a random horse? It would be pretty bad ass to use a Persian horse against his former masters.

2. Do you remember what he said
right as that extended horse ride began? Something about giving the Persians hell?
I remember hearing him say it and that sequence beginning and Junkie XL's music came up and I was fucking amped. Checked IMDB but nothing doing. :(

Saw it last night. Went in expecting it to be lame and came out really pleased. I'm a history teacher so the whole historical inaccuracy made me laugh, but it was still fun none the less. Loved Eva Green in this, was a very entertaining villain for numerous reasons. The movie did play out like a video game with the mid-tier boss ship and Artemisia changing costumes at every battle like a villain from Final Fantasy. I appreciated that they expanded on the "300 Universe" more even though it wasn't handled in the best way possible. I liked getting the background on this version of Xerxes. The original was the better film, but this was a good sequel and I don't regret spending the money to see it in the theater. Even kinda wishing I had seen it in IMAX now just for the size of the sea battles.

Just saw it today, and mostly agree with you. I didn't expect it to be lame, though. Eva Green was once again amazing
I'm sad that she won't be in the hopeful sequel
. Didn't think it was gorish at all like some have said. I guess after watching Spartacus nothing really surprises me. The sea battles were quite spectacular,
especially the artificial dam fight.
Overall, I was very happy with the movie. Now I just want to try that
UFC style sex....with Eva Green

Just saw this last night. It was quite a fun movie, definitely not the better sequel, but it served its purpose by giving us more slo-mo bloodshed and naked Eva Green. She makes a very pleasant villain. Someone who is catching for the eye and her beauty is what made her dangerous.

One thing I did not like was the 3D effect. Every single slash had blood spurting all over the place. It was fine at the starting battle but it quickly became a nuisance that ruined the overall depth of the battle because each kill had blood over 40% of the screen.

I kind of hoped we would have seen more of the Spartans but I guess that is for the inevitable 3rd movie.

Eve Green was slaying, literally. She was the only intresting character this time around. And I loved the first movie.

ending spoiler
too bad she had to die. she'd be my main reason to watch the inevitable third movie

I found the movie to be really bland. Yea, the men were hot, but unlike with 300, nothing really got me pumped.

Also I didn't like how they made Xerxes just a figure head.

As everyone else has already said, Eva Green was absolutely mesmerizing in this. As expected, really. Everything else was awful.

Leading man was as charismatic as a carrot, just ugh.

OMG so many hot guys everywhere, me and my boyfriend were turned on during the movie. LOL

I didn't like the first one that much, this one was better to me in my opinion, although the queen seemed like a throwaway character.

Holy crap, I didn't know Eva Green was French. She is good an not having a foreign accent...although she sounds British or something sometimes. First saw her in Dark Shadows...I like her. She is a badass evil person! :P

Movie was not bad. The characters weren't as memorable as the Spartans in the first movie. Too bad Butler didn't come back to do some new scenes...reusing old footage from the first movie seemed a little awkward.

Showing Oenomaus from Spartacus was cool as I did an oh shit moment. I know he was the messenger in the first one but seeing him fight again was cool to see.

Confirming the same in Pakistan (not that it should be surprising :p ) .. but yeah they worked the scene up, and then just .. Eva green yelling at the dude to get off her ship.

Also, that made the "You fight harder than you fuck" line seem so out of context :p
