30fps enough for you?

I get used to it and won't mind it. It really depends on the type of game. What I absolutely hate is stutters.

This gen sure 30 fps is probably as good as its gonna get with that pristine image quality. 60 fps mode has way too much cutbacks on base consoles. Not all but some. Sony games still look great at 60 fps but those 3rd party games are having to do some serious cutbacks for 60fps mode.

But looking next gen, 60 fps has to be the standard. We are at the point where getting basic rtgi at 60 fps is possible with Indiana Jones and Doom Dark Age. Then you have the 30 fps rtgi games like Ass Creed Shadows and Witcher 3 Next gen edition showing the future. With pssr and fsr getting better and better with each iteration, having these games run at sub 1080p upscaled to 4k at 60 fps is the way to go.

After playing on PC in higher framerates, 60fps is not enough for me on 240Hz monitor.

75 fps is a new 60 for me.

90 cap works best.

Past 90 it isn't as noticable for me.

90fps with VRR(freesync/gsync) feel soo good actually . Its like 2x better than 60fps . Past that yea not as noticable .
But I can still play 30fps game , just not first person game .

30fps is only acceptable if the frame pacing is perfect.
Minimum 45fps, in general, to be comfortable.

Unstable 30fps is not acceptable under any circumstances.

As long as the framerate is consistent then 30 fps or any rate above is fine. It's the drops in performance that drag you out of the game a little.

Yeah, Ive been playing some Ninja Gaiden for example and lower framerates than 75 are not noticeable there, I think it runs at stable 60. So it's not like I can't enjoy games at 60 anymore but it depends on a game.

3rd person games at 60 or 30 may not be as noticeable as 1st person games.

But yeah, for me 90 with VRR blows my mind, espacially in 1st person games.

But at 120Hz I personally don't feel that much difference, like going from 60 to 90.

I cap my games at 90 if my GPU spit more frames because past that I can't see much difference so I lower power draw this way.

Turn based games, management games, or any game that doesn't revolve around inmediate action can be played fine at 30fps.

As long as it's above 15 fps. Anything lower actually hinders the gameplay to not registering buttons properly etc.

I just finished TMNT for NES, that runs at 30fps logic on a NES. I was just fine.
Also played Zelda64 PAL which runs at 20fps. I was just fine.

Played some Perfect Dark on N64 and there the fluctiation when dropping below 15 in some points was actually bothering me.

It's just a mindset of not letting it bother you, but we are all different. I don't play graphics, I play the game; but I don't play competitive shooters anymore where 60 is the absolute minimum you should be playing at.

Depend on the game , for third person single player like the last of us and silent hill I don't need more than 30

There is a significant difference between '30 fps' and 'stable 30 fps'.

The latter is the key. 30 FPS is only a problem if it is noticable, and it's only noticable if it's dropping like shit.

Remember if we talking graphically heavy games something gotta give, settings, resolution or fps, even with top of the top pc ppl sometimes have to make compromises, not to mention 5yo consoles.
Currently in 2025 stable 30 should be bare minimum for juggernauts like gta series and 60 stable(not 40 to 60, stable fuckin 60) should be at least possible for most not so heavy games, by next gen 60 will be very prevalent coz of simple fact console gonna have at least zen5 cpu instead of by now pretty weak and oudated zen2 archi cpu, expect 2-3x cpu performance increase by 2027-2028 from ps6, and it handling even better rt/ai upscaling means more gpu performance is left for that stable 60 mode at the least :)

30fps with dips is such a terrible experience and console players at the end of the gen always have to suffer tru it, lets see if by 2027-2028 this gen is different, cant predict it yet, but we got examples from end of ps360 gen gta5:

end of ps4/xbox one gen we got cp2077 with even worse performance(dips under 20fps, weak af jaguar cpu and no ssd does makes it all happen)and midgen upgrades werent that much better perf wise- one x dips to 16fps in cpu heavy scenario (they were a lot better res wise- aka game didnt look like some1 smeared soap/mud all over the screen tho):

Depends on the genre.
Turned based rpg's. Can easily be 25fps

My favorite is 40fps i don't really need more

On sample-and-hold displays it will always be noticeable thanks to the constant stutter(the faster the display pixel response, the worse the stutter) without some motion interpolation to mitigate it.

Being forced to play any game in 30fps in 2025 is simply not respecting your hobby. And devs still making games in 30fps are abusing their playerbase.

I struggle with 30fps now to be honest. I'm going to struggle with GTA 6 at 30fps! As OLED TV's have no pixel blur, 30fps is even worse on them!

I get headaches from 30fps, my brain cannot stomach this shit. It's like asking me if wearing only one shoe is enough. Or sleeping 4 hours each night. Of having only half of my teeths to chew.

Yes, for most games is good enough, at least in consoles with multiple buffering, v-sync and usually no frame pacing. Some genres like racing or beat them ups 1 on 1, it's better with more fps, but for many genres 30 is enough, and if the increase in IQ is noticeably it's a no Brainerd, I can't stand blurry graphics.

In PC 30fps felt like shit, though. Don't know why but it was different, IDK if it was the monitor display refresh that made it more apparent, or some frame pacing issue but it was way more
