360 worldwide backwards compatibility question

Sorry if old. Tried a related thread but got no response.

Will Japanese an/or European backwards compatibility patches for the Xbox360 work on a US Xbox? If I were to go on the Japanese Xbox site, download the patch and burn it onto a CDR, and then place that CDR in a US Xbox360, would it work?

Just wondering. :D

dunno. but why wouldn't you just get the us patch?

edit: now that i think about it, i doubt it. there's got to be a difference because the list of workable games are so different in size and games

I'd say the patches are the same for all territories, if you look closely it's just a matter of games released in the US, and not released in PAL or JP territories (usually sucky games not using any special feature of the GPU). And I wouldn't be surprised at all if the file was encrypted with a different key for each territory.
But of course, it's just my guess.

Well, if I ever needed or wanted to get a Japanese Xbox game (which are probably less than $5 in Japan these days new) I'd have a patch right there. I'm hoping that the system itself doesn't discriminate between regional patches.

Doesn't the FAQ say you can't play JPN Xbox games on NA Xbox 360?

PAL version of Halo and Halo 2 work on the NTSC 360 going by what I have read from someone who was lucky enough to get the 360 at the Zero Hour event. :)

I tried playing my Japanese Halo2 on the US X360 and it loaded up the patch and then gave me some kind of FAILURE message.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure the patches include region coding meaning no foreign BC. :\

Oh, so Japanese patches are actually out already? Or was this a Japanese game on a US patch?

Bummer, though. =/
