3DS Update Now Available: Adds Miiverse, L+R to activate camera, etc

Tried in the subway, and nope.

In Offline mode, you can only save up to three posts (text or drawing) but no image.
Looks like I'm not making an NNID then (I need offline screenshots, their exclusion is as logical as releasing a region locked portable...). Sorry I won't be there to yeah all the 50Hz sux posts in the LTTP community...

Okay guys, I need a quick answer to this. I read how you can't change shops once you make a nintendo ID. I'm going through the process of creating a Nintendo ID now and the following message is showing up:

You can only create or link a Nintendo Network ID with country settings corresponding to your current region settings on this system.

Does it mean for instance, I won't have problems using the British eShop if I might live there in the future, since the country is in the same region as the one I'm currently living in?

Or does it really mean that I'm locked with the Dutch store for good?

I've never switched accounts before really, but this will create problems if I live in the UK or a different EU country.
The message means you can't link say a Canadian account to a European or Japanese system since the country settings do not correspond. In other words if you link an NNID it has to be the same country (for the reason the NNID only has one wallet so currency must be the same).

As for your other question. If you make a Dutch NNID you have to keep using the Dutch eShop (keep your country set to Netherlands) and pay in Euros. There is no IP lock.

Going into speculation now. If you wanted to use the UK eShop I guess you would have to unlink your NNID (but would this delete anything? I thought NNID held purchases on Wii U) and create another one but that might also eat any funds in your wallet (which is odd, as the way I see it the wallet gets moved to the NNID). I would love to someone to experiment with this. I have over £40 on the eShop so won't.

Another thing is this against EU law single market and that. If I can figure out which laws exactly I might contact the European Commission as you can use Link's Awakening as a perfect example. Under NNID a German user can not buy an English version. Then again given NNID is optional (you only need it to use features of the system) it might slip through that net.

L + R to activate camera? Even without Miiverse this is the greatest update ever.
Indeed. Now the other thing that needs to be fixed is the volume slider, but I doubt a system update will be able to chamge that.

Downloading this tonight. Gonna see what Miiverse is like.

I just started using miiverse for the first time ever and it's not bad so far. The loading is a bit long, maybe around 3 or 4 seconds between screens but its not swapnote bad.

I see. I normally use different shops on PSN but never really bothered with the eshop.

It sounds more complicated to get clear answers. I'm only worried about not being able to purchase stuff in the future because I might not have access to Dutch eshop cards or maybe you're not allowed to have a Dutch CC overseas (?). But, it shouldn't be a problem to use my Dutch CC in the UK and can continue buying stuff that way, if it is possible to keep your CC that is? Or, it shouldn't be a problem to use a UK CC on a Dutch eshop?

Sorry if the questions sound silly, just making sure in case I move to another country.

Sorry if already being asked but how do you take screenshots? I can't do it in AA5?
When you get to the place you want to take a screenshot of, press HOME, go to Miiverse, and hit Post. On the post screen, there will be a button in the top-right corner that lets you add a screenshot to your post.

While the game is running, press Home and open up Miiverse. You should automatically be sent to the AA5 community. Make a new post, and in the top right corner there's an icon you can tap to add a screenshot.

In order to save the screenshot, you'll have to view your post in a browser and save the image.

This brings to mind two things:

1). Is there such a thing as PG-13 Miiverse communities? Has a game even been released on the Wii U that's had considerably risque content? There's certain games you simply can't expect to have totally family friendly communities. Does Nintendo seem to mind?

2). Now that Miiverse is on the 3DS, I wonder how future games will integrate it? Or if we'll ever see things like WW HD's bottles, 3D World's stickers, etc.

i guess Miiverse is modded really well things that are not acceptable are usually removed within a minute. Also They allow extreme gore on wii u like Ninja Gaiden for example. and they never removed a panty shot i did in Warrior orochi :P

I have not yet decided whether I'll become a virtual American or Canadian but can I update the 3DS system without creating an NNID for now?

It's evening in Japan, it's obvious servers are getting hammered right now.

Also it would be a good idea to add the server status page in your favourites because it confirms it.

i managed to do system update and linked NNID, miiverse seems works perfectly

however i always got errors when try to open eShop and update Mii Plaza

have you guys experienced the similar situation ?, guess nintendo server got stuck or something ?

Sweet, it'll be nice to have a social network of sorts on the 3DS.

AA5 not supporting screenshots SUCKS though. It would have allowed people to pull clean images out of the game. :(

thank you very much!

Besides... Where the hell is the Kid Icarus Uprising community?!?

It does. You can post them to miiverse. If you want them as standalone images you can save them via a web browser. The handheld screenshot thread has tons of AA5 direct-feed screencaps from Gaffers made today.

So, does this mean that games bought through the eShop will be tied to your account instead of the system now, or am I still going to have to keep not buying anything from Nintendo digitally?

Nintendo purchases have been tied to an account for years, even on Wii; it's the fact that accounts are tied to the system unless you do system transfers or call Nintendo.

The only way to unlink a NNID on the 3DS is to format the system memory and wipe everything, which sucks.

Throw me on the pile of people who now have a Wii U and 3DS with different country settings and no way to easily merge them without losing out. :(

I don't think swapnote will be missed much now

Do you think it's save to delete now? All the themes and replies, all were for nothing :( Not sure wether to delete or keep it if it's going to be useless. Are we 100% sure it's not going to return in the future?

Yep, it's a bit frustrating to be honest.

one thing that is bothering me atm is the interaction between NNIDs and club Nintendo Accounts

i linked my secondary NNID that is set to USA to my 3DS since my main Wii U NNID is set to Canada and i have money in the US 3DS eshop.

after linking the NNID, that doom feeling suddendly struck and now i'm worried about my eshop purchases not registering to my CN account since the email from my NNID is different than the one i used for my CN account.

anyone can share some light into this?

Is it just me, or is the menu UI much sharper? My game icons don't look quite as blurry and stretched any more on my XL.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread or the Emily pre-update thread that it disabled anti-aliasing on icons, it may be that.

Don't think anyone has been able to download yet, the eShop is offline

People definitely have been able to download it during the couple hours right after the update rolled out. I have not seen any change, anyway the 3.2→3.3 version number increase should be telling that it's no big deal. I believe someone mentioned it's just NNID integration or whatever.

Around what amount of time eShop comes back after events like today? It's still offline, damn :(

Well that blows... I want to link my NNID but I can't add the _ in my ID. Orion_Spook can't be done then. Or am I missing something?

I have used a UK debit card on the South African and Australian eShop (and the Japanese Wii Shop). The thing to bear in mind is your bank will charge you for foreign currency transactions (check these policies out beforehand) which might make it slightly more expensive (or slightly cheaper, NOE use 1.1 EUR = 1 GBP for setting prices)

Has anyone else had trouble linking their Wii U's NNID to their 3DS? No matter what I put into the form, when I hit link it just attempts to do so for a minute or so before dropping me back into the screen asking if I want to link. No connection difficulties message, no wrong password message, no feedback of any sort.
