More than 800 former soldiers have failed to comply with Army orders to get back in uniform and report for duty in Iraq or Afghanistan, the Army said Friday. That is more than one-third of the total who were told to report to a mobilization station by October 17.

The army has been really easy on what they could consider deserters. My cousin has gone awol 2 times and they have yet to punish him. He just went back to work like nothing happened.

Considering the reasons for this war I really don't see that being much of a problem. I know if someone told me that they were discharged for not wanting to die for Bush and his hoebag administration I wouldn't give it a second thought. I'm sure there will be others that will care but I'm willing to bet that in the future most people won't give a damn as long as you have the skills they need for that job. It's not like they are refusing to go toe Europe and fight the Axis or Japan in the Pacific.
