How it works?
In simple terms there are two tough guys fighting for your FPS - CPU, GPU.
The higher the resolution, the GPU starts losing the battle and sadly CPU cannot do much about it.
7600x, but I will wait a bit so the price stabilise.

You will not see gains in 4k resolutions becasue GPU is the limiting factor here, and CPU cannot magiacally make GPU faster.

the 9800X3D seems like a good upgrade for gaming but i'm waiting for the 9950X3D. hopefully the gaming performance is just as good but also with the multi-core improvements too.
going from a 16c/32t cpu to 8c/16t cpu feels like a downgrade even if it has better gaming performance. i'm sticking with 16c/32t until we get a 32c/64t cpu

1 to 2 percent difference amongst the GPU bound CPUs is, for all intents and purposes, identical.
Yeah I know it will die in few billion years, which makes it's chance of setting nearly 100%. This CPU wasn't nothing revolutionary and fitting whih standard current architecture, which makes chance of changing the rules nearly 0%. But that's my last post regarding this.

1% lows tend to be CPU bound, not GPU bound, so yeah you'd see more variance there too.

The GPU bound is the upper limit. Below that limit you will still see scaling. But TechPowerup has the 9800X3D a whole 0.3% faster at 4K than the 7800X3D, which illustrates just how much room there is for a faster CPU.
