Upgrading from a Ryzen 7 5800XFor the rest of you upgrading tomorrow, what are you upgrading from?
I'm on a 10700K at the moment
Did you manage to place an order? Its crazy.
There is/was a lot of stock for launch. I think demand is just crazy.
Mlid on stream saying, there a lot supply, but next week,
Now its your turn Jensen, don't disappoint me!
They are loving it but from what I can see it seems like a “paper launch” in most counties
I was watching the Moore's Law is Dead livestream yesterday and they said UK should get it in about a week. But supply is hefty, though it is also flying off the shelves.I think most supply for PC part launches is usually concentrated in the US
Yeah we've been starving for a good product launch in pc-landI was watching the Moore's Law is Dead livestream yesterday and they said UK should get it in about a week. But supply is hefty, though it is also flying off the shelves.
you`re not pairing the fastest gaming cpu in existence with a "good value proposition GPU"....I actually think that AMD might surprise us with a solid value proposition on the GPU side... let's see

14900k is a great CPU. Unfortunately in may be intel's last good product.Man, i just bought the 14900k after 2 years of savings
I saw videos, in some games 4090 was 95-99% at 1080, so need waiting for 5090 benchsgames being GPU bound
Important to note that Steve says he believes that many of the games where there were no or little differences when tested were due to the games being GPU bound
he didn't go into detail on how he arrived at that conclusion, it's possible that in some games that only care about single threaded perf and doesn't benefit from larger cache size that the 9800x3d will only be like 5% faster than the 7800x3d due to the higher clocks. I guess time will tell but there's a pretty good chance that eventually a bigger gap will showCould be, tough he could have easily confirmed that by looking at the GPU usage.
It could also be engine limitation, as some game engines have very poor scaling after certain frame rates.
I think upgrading every 2 gens is a smart strategy for PC gaming. Was going to bite but rather wait for the 10800x3D which will be a bigger jump over my 7800x3D and compatible with my current setup.
If I didn't already own a 7800x3D I'd get the 9800x3D with the quickness.

They're averages so a CPU hitch on the 1% lows would be what is affecting the average by a small amount. If that was true the framerate numbers would be identical and they are not.

NeweggIs there anywhere you can just backorder pc components? Google failed me.
So no..Newegg
Ugh, got everything all setup and my mobo (asus crosshair x870e hero) just gives c5 error code and no post. I tried bios flashback to the latest bios, making sure ram was fully seated, one stick at a time, swapping the sticks, different slots, etc… and no dice. I guess I’ve got some returns/exchanges to make.
What mobo and RAM are you guys using? I’m open to options at this point…
I wish I had gotten an Asrock instead of my ASUS. Those Taichi boards are rock solid. Asrocks mid-range boards are also rock solid.I bought the Asrock x870e Taichi. Seemed like a solid choise especially as its without no line sharing. Still choosing ram. Most likely some low latency 6000mhz ram.

I got my 9800X3D from my local Microcenter and it was a bitch to get up and running. I consolidated my two 1TB M.2s into a 2TB drive and did a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2. When I updated the BIOS on my Asus X670E, it wouldn't see my RAID drives AND it wouldn't even boot into Windows without going to the BIOS first. I had to manually select the drive to boot from in my BIOS.
Thankfully after a few BIOS resets and brute forcing the RAID driver into Windows, everything seems to be running fine. I look forward to actually playing games on it.
From S to A tier.We have become second class

The motherboard was on the QVL list for the RAM but the RAM wasn’t on the QVL for the mobo. I was reading about others getting the C5 error so not sure if I just got a bad board.MSI X870-P wifi has been rock solid for me so far. Have a 9700X in it paired with 32GB low latency gskill trident 6400 CL30 (F5-6400J3039G16GX2-TZ5NRW).
Was your RAM on the QVL list for the motherboard (or the motherboard on the QVL list for the RAM)?
I went with the ASRock X870E Nova - seems to be one of the better boards according to this guyUgh, got everything all setup and my mobo (asus crosshair x870e hero) just gives c5 error code and no post.
