Dreams of a world where inflated review scores save studios
Just look at Concord. I really don't blame Sony for canceling all their Live service games and closing out the studios. Developing games costs sooo much these days and releasing something mediocre is just not worth it. The only thing that sucks are the people affected by the layoffs.

Man, I hate it when there are like 10 threads going regarding some big news that just broke, yet someone will create another new thread just to share their uninteresting hot take.

I think it was Socrates who said the mediocre life is not worth living so if you really want to live you have to die historic on the fury road.

Live service trash, sure. But a single-player game? No way. Plenty of games which were called "mediocre" in the past which are still enjoyed and finding new audiences today.

I think SomeNorseGuy said it best when he said "Thinly veiled defence force, is still defence force."

But he's usually wrong, so not sure what to think personally.

What about No Man's Sky, or Cyberpunk on consoles or Sea of Thieves?
It's not particularly common but there have been plenty of games that have launched to a rough reception and managed to turn things around.
