Why would you get in a shouting match with someone you genuinely feared might be infected?
It’s definitely stupid to do that. But I can only guess the reasoning is that telling someone off for possibly endangering other people for no good reason other than believing nonsense about it being some sort of vague conspiracy.

So yeah. Anti-maskers are dumb, but they’re the last people I’d want to get into a close range shouting match with.

The owner is wearing a mask. She wants customers to come in with masks and buy her bagels so she can make a living.
Was the owner filming this argument, or was it a random person who decided to pull their phone out and film an argument, than rush to YouTube and reddit.

Clearly concerned about Covid, I'm sure.

Here is an option. How about minding your own fucking buisness, getting your coffee and then getting out. For someone who is supposedly concerned about spreading Covid, they have no problem screaming at a stranger for 15 minutes, filling the air with their droplets.

Yea, Im not watching 10mins of a Karen freakout. Is it really that hard to just wear a fucking mask? I wouldn't engage with these people regardless. I have seen quite a few of them when I go out but its just not worth arguing with these people. I respectfully keep my social distance from them.

Why are maskers even outside at a coffee shop? Stay the fuck home

Because they desperately want some sense of normalcy and are willing to accept mask wearing mandates as a way to get a taste of that normalcy, but that evil woman is about to ruin everything.

😂 "Evil woman about to ruin everything."

Would you call the police because some stranger you don't know isn't wearing a mask? How about leaving her alone, let her get her coffee so she leaves, and going along with your life?

Or is the new normal to call the police to arrest anyone you don't like? Ridiculous

No, she's a bad person and needs to learn about her lack of virtue with a good lecture from her betters and a visit from the police. She should probably be put in a reeducation camp and be kicked off Twitter, too.

I live in a country where masks haven't been politicised, and really there's no question for me about wearing them.. take a moment and think: if nobody told you wearing a mask was a political option, would it even have occurred to you to not wear it?

I just put on a mask whenever I'm near others.. it's not hard and i don't feel my balls shrinking as i do it.

2 million worldwide deaths recently reached, Stay safe..

I agree the best strategy for anti-maskers is just ignore them.

The only time I would consider confronting is if a business owner is struggling to deal with a particularly loud or threatening one, or is outnumbered. Then I'd be happy to step in and support until the police arrive.

At the end of the day, private businesses on private property have the right to ask you to leave. If you refuse, it's trespassing. It really is that simple. This isn't about refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple that needs a supreme court decision. It's about risk of infection in a pandemic when you have clearly stated local by-laws on your side.

The lawmakers are who I take issue with.
A referendum or bill asking the public how and/or whether they want masks to be enforced is not unreasonable.

If you'd told me a few years ago that something as simple as wearing a mask to prevent the spread of germs/diseases would be a political hotpoint, I'd have called you crazy.

The amount of people who somehow can't grasp that a cover over your mouth and nose helps to prevent the spread of shit from your mouth and nose is absolutely ridiculous.

Anti-masker: I don't wear mask 'cause my freedom, this is democracy.
Me: Your freedom ends just here where my freedom begins.

UK at the moment, but I’m half Australian, so have lived between the two countries over the years. The fact that I’m here with coronavirus running rampant, and not there where it’s well under control, shows you how bad I am at making life decisions.
You moved before the virus hit?

Because the owner of the establishment asks patrons to wear a mask for public health safety. If they don't then they have the right to ask them to leave, the woman didn't comply with the requests of the owner and was refused service, so she started a public freak out.

How you Americans have politicised wearing a mask astounds me, I think you'd turn using toilet paper as a left/right issue if you could.

It’s stupid to argue with anti mask idiots. But it’s also stupid to yell and record them in the wild. The problem I have is if the business owner put a sign on that says you need a mask to enter, and a person without a mask enters anyway. You don’t want to wear a mask? Fine, but once you step on private property and put other people’s livelihoods at stake (if there’s a corona outbreak bc of her, the business needs to shut down until then can clean and re open), it becomes a huge problem. Really, the anti mask people are just selfish. That’s the only way to describe them.

Typically anti maskers fall into one or more of the following :

1) they have a rebellious attitude towards govt/authority when things are mandated that give the impression or impede on their liberties

2) they see wearing masks as a sign of weakness and don’t want to appear weak

3) they believe that masks simply don’t work and the science is a lie and COVID isn’t as bad as the media is making it out to be

4) they’re assholes

The one thing Covid has really highlighted for me more than anything else is how deeply selfish people are... and I’m afraid it appears to be more in America than anywhere else. What happened? Is it too many years of living pampered, easy lives? Of a society that’s used to getting whatever it wants whenever it wants it?

You forgot option 5) I just don't care either way.

I wear a mask cause it's mandatory here. I pop it on, no problem. But, if i had a choice not to wear one, i wouldn't.

They can be non believing assholes as much as they like. Just don't come running and demanding a hospital bed when there are simply no more left.

I think that’s pretty much all of us sensible people. Nobody is enjoy these restrictions, but we should all be prepared to put up with them as it can slow the spread of the virus.

Really cannot get my head around balking at such minor inconvenience.

what I mean by anti mask are the people who refuse to wear one, not that they disagree with using them. You can have a disdain for masks in general but still wear one for other people and not fall into any of the categories above

Just wear the fucking mask. You might prevent someone with a weaker immune system from getting a disease that is deadly to them. Can't believe how selfish people can be, especially when a new more contagious strain of COVID is popping up.

Masks are great if you cough or sneeze without using your arm or hands to protect. Other than that, most people are touching their faces way more often when using the mask. The germs are now either on your face and into your body or still on your hands and getting everywhere else anyways.

Even with high compliance with masks before the holidays, cases were rising. Sure, one could make an arguement that it's because the weather got colder and more people are indoors. Or that we'd have even more infections if people weren't wearing a mask.

All in all, if people were more clean, didn't touch their face, and covered their mouth when coughing/sneezing, we'd be in a better situation. Like others have said, though, masks are a minor inconvenience. But it's only necessary because we, as people, are not the brightest and can't think for ourselves. That's why we need other people to think for us and to take the blame.

Same here. I also don't wear one at work since I'm on night shift and no bosses to complain.

Been walking maskless in one of the biggest hospital in the region that were hit by covid since March 2020 and I'm still going

Lucky. We have multiple solid employees that were immediately fired for that where I work.
