Sweet Jesus, someone get park security on the phone.

FYI: Bioware / EA marketing moved up the review embargo. This is most likely to disseminate a more updated narrative, or at least stop letting people get the (wrong?) impression of the game because of the subpar animations:

(yes I am aware that the tweet is by the hyper consumer gamer dude)

Ahead as in, the embargo will end sooner?

So they are lifting embargo early? Strange. I guess the game will still review well if there is anything to go by. I feel bad for the people who worked on this, but people just absolutely dismantle everything they have done the past few years. I get that it's sub-par and it's a justified criticism of the game, but they have feelings too

The game itself may review well but you never get first-impressions twice and these animations are what many people's first, and perhaps only, impressions of the game will be.

Every person I know and talked to that was considering the game moved away and those that had it preordered cancelled it.

I'm assuming at this point EA said "it can't be any worse so let's lift the embargo" because let's be honest, it can only go up from the trial debacle.

Even if game ends up decent, it's too late for me, i'll get it dirt cheap at some point.

Have they heard about our lord and savior Horizon Zero Dawn...a game where the machines are animated better than Andromeda's human's...

This might be a smart thing. It's what Bioware needs to change the conversation since the embargo is pretty strict about where it ends (the point the press are allowed to talk about). If it ends early people can actually start talking more about late game stuff and how the plot/relationships pan out.

Is there a precedent for an embargo lifting early to prevent perceived catastrophe? Seems like EA just went from "don't tell anyone this game is a 7 until the last minute" to "please God tell everyone that will listen this game is a 7 and not a 3."

Who better to stream the game early than Conh "ARKHAM KNIGHT IS RUNNING AT 60 FPS AT ALL TIMES WHILE I'M STREAMING IT ON LAUNCH DAY" Carnage.

My wife, who has worked w/ stroke patients, saw this over my shoulder and asked if this was supposed to be a stroke patient.

I said no, it was the main character in a game called Mass Effect.

She then noted that a "Mass Effect" in medicine is when tumor expansion causes secondary pathology. This occurs often with brain tumors, which she suggested might also explain the character's bizarre movements and expression.

Wouldn't moving the embargo forward defeat the purpose of the embargo, i.e. some outlets would be ready before others and would get the scoop? As opposed to moving it further back which would be fine?

Yeah, curious about this. Sucks for people who wait to the last minute to do their review.

I can't imagine they'd push it back.. an embargo after launch? Haha.

I wanted this game to be good soooo bad...wanted to platnium it. loved the trilogy, but hey at least I can spend time on other things now

I was willing to give this a shot, but only loved the first one. Two was a huge letdown and I didn't bother with three. I'll just continue not giving a shit about mass effect if this is what they put out.

I haven't bought an EA game since last generation. their stuff is just completely uninteresting to me or turns me off.

That's...fine? He wasn't being hyperbolic or lying there.

Ya'll are being harsh on Cohh. God forbid someone says one thing exaggerate and dumb when they're shooting the shit and chatting politely for 8+ hours a day or whatever.

I don't judge. Someone asked a question and I knew where to find the answer.

I mean sure. Don't want to join in on another GAF hatefest, but yeah, the pride in showing their game cancellation is pretty embarrassing.
I think your assumption is embarrassing, not people cancelling.

Guess what, I cancelled my pre-order a couple days ago as well. I'm not proud, either, but frankly disappointed and upset that this is how one of my favorite series has been treated.

to me the ironic thing is if they announced a ME remaster of the original trilogy with all DLCs included on disc, I'd buy that and spend the next 3 weeks happily replaying that over Andromeda. I just finished HZD (LOVED it), cancelled my ME:A pre order after 3 hours trial, and have gone back to my Ezio Collection play, and really enjoying that.

Why did they never release a trilogy remaster :(

Maybe they will still do a trilogy remaster to cleanse people's palates / buy whatever development team they hand the series to next some time to do a proper reboot. I expect there'll be some shift in strategy after this burgeoning Andromeda debacle.

This thread is officially NeoGAF legend.

It's almost come full circle for me; Was interested in it, then decided to wait and see, this thread happened, many tears of laughter and ridiculing the game, starting to feel sorry the devs, now i want to buy the game just for shits and giggles.

Your standards are just too high, you're not a gamer. Come down to my level. What's the matter; Gutter water too rich for your blood?

oh yes, I'm not a gamer because I don't just throw my money out to big publishers who can't do animation as well as a game 10 years ago did. It's my responsibility as a gamer to give away my money to publishing giants that spend millions of dollars wastefully on a game just to dish out a shitty product because they scared away all the real artists that used to work for the studio.

God what an asshole this guy is. It's not even JUST the animations. There is no character in the dialogue and voice acting in this game from what I've seen. This really looks like one of the most soulless games of the year so far. I've spent my money on much better experiences in the past couple years alone, that I don't need to throw it away on this shitty looking game.

Okay, here's a master post of MyFaceIsTired comparisons since someone requested it. As before, right click the play bar and select "loop" to loop the video if you wish

vs ME1
vs ME2*
vs ME3
vs Dragon Age: Inquisition**
vs Horizon Zero Dawn***
vs Stop Stop It's Already Dead

All footage pulled from 1080p yt playthroughs
*ME2 footage was 30fps, all others 60fps
**As a reminder, most sidequests in DAI were given via notes or just by walking near a place or whatever, there weren't a lot of up-close conversations with non-companion NPCs. I also feel like DAI may have been more aware of its animation limitations, the camera angles through the cutscene I pulled this from are pretty dynamic, and probably obscuring too.
***I think just two days ago I commented on how HZD's only graphic flaw was its face animations (though all the NPC face designs are FANTASTIC), little did I know what was around the corner

What's with people picking the worst example of Andromeda's animation and comparing it to the best examples from other games? The animations in Andromeda aren't good, but they're 90% of the time better than that

can tell you for a fact that ME2 footage ain't the best technical convo from ME2. It's actually pretty close to what it's being compared to. And I think it still comes out on top.
