There is no societal value to these children.

I mean, that's really easy to say after the fact. I'm not going to say I "feel bad" for these kids, but I'm also not going to pretend that I didn't do a lot of stupid outdoor activities as a kid, any one of which might have started a fire I was in no way prepared to deal with.

I didn't not stop when adults saw me or corrected me or whatever, but still.
