goddamit, Griese!
The new album shall be entitled eMOTIVe, and it is set for a November 2nd release. According to a statement posted by Maynard on the official site today, it will feature both new & remixed material as well as covers such as Imagine (John Lennon), What's Goin' On (Marvin Gaye), and Let's Have A War (FEAR). Here is a song from eMOTIVe, a remix of Pet entitled Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums. It is accompanied by an animated video poking fun at the current presidency: http://www.aperfectcircle.com/bodies.html

Maynard also reminds us that this year, every single vote counts: "Don't let yourself be tricked into thinking it does not. It is important for us all to engage this political system and to be conscious of who is being chosen to speak for us. If you choose not to be involved with decisions that affect your life on a daily basis, in our opinion, you forfeit your right to complain about it later. THINK FOR YOURSELF. QUESTION AUTHORITY. Hopefully you will choose to vote on November 2nd." To read his complete message, head to http://aperfectcircle.com.

oh fucking my. apc does awesome covers. can't wait.

Imagine? I wanna hear Maynard sing that.

Cool, my life has purpose again for a few more months. I don't think I can ever get tired of listening to the first two CDs...

Also, emotive is a separate release from the Live DVD/Remixed Thirteenth Step that is coming out. So there will still be two different APC cds. The remixed Thirteenth Step comes packaged with the live DVD. Emotive is a separate disk coming out November 2nd.

Eh...not sure if Thirteenth Step really NEEDED to be remixed, but I'll probably be picking it up. I'm not even much of a Tool fan, but A Perfect Circle's music is about as close to, well, perfection as I've ever heard. I just never get tired of it...

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
The remixed Thirteenth Step is just a bonus for me, since I was getting that live DVD no matter what. The fact that the remix comes with it...hey hey.

I'm generally not to into remix albums, but I'll give it a shot for those covers. I do agree the title is rather lame, though... really just thanks to the capitalization.

:lol

I couldn't think of a better parody title for a pretentious anti-war song.

hopefully it's more enjoyable than their 2nd CD which was UTTER CRAP! That's right, I said it!

I agree with this use of hyberbole. It wasn't crap, but it certainly didn't come close to Mer De Noms. Also, it was overproduced, I mean shit, it sounds like it was produced by the guy who mixes Britney Spears.

Needless to say I am not excited by the prospect of this cd at all. Bring on Tool's new album.

I don't like the remix of pet.
I don't like the album title.
I don't like waiting for the new tool CD.

I'm going to listen to thirteenth step and mer de noms now.

THINK FOR YOURSELF. QUESTION AUTHORITY
Christ I hate that shit. I like the music Maynard makes and all, but the first time I heard him doing that on one of the tracks on Opiate I wanted to break the damn disc. All I imagined was thousands of people at the concert saying in unison, "YES MAYNARD WE WILL THINK FOR OURSELVES AND QUESTION AUTHORITY EXCEPT IF IT'S YOU BECAUSE WE LIKE YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU TELLING US WHAT TO DO MAKES YOU A FORM OF AUTHORITY BUT STILL WE'LL BE SURE TO THINK FOR OURSELVES."

I find it annoying when any celebrity, be it a singer or an actor, feels the need to put out political messages. The fact that you sell CDs or movies does not always instantly qualify you to speak on behalf of the masses that buy them.

When you gain fame, you're supposed to keep your trap shut about opinions you'd have either way?

Nice idea there.

Now that I disagree with. As Matlock said, your job occupation shouldn't have any bearing on your political views. If you want to tell everyone you're a Democrat or Republican, that's your choice.

As long as it's better than the new Tool song I heard on the radio this past weekend. Just awful, and I like the band.

What are you smoking? There's no new Tool song. There hasn't been for a while. They're still writing material for their next album.

Unless, you're either talking about an older song or an A Perfect Circle one.

or it could have been an earshot song. *shudder*

Or Breaking Benjamin. Sometimes that guy tries really hard to sound like a weird version of Maynard, especially on the first track of the new CD.

That remix sucks, and I just lost some respect for Maynard.

Wish he would get back to being a recluse and get back to TOOL.

Or

Make a project with Lohner, dont remix shit weve already heard in a better version.

My local "alternative" station had a "sneak peak" track from the "new Tool" that they played this weekend. It was not a APC and it was not a Tool song I'd heard before. It was also terrible. Sorry, I don't "smoke" anymore.

Has it occured to you that they meant it as in, a band that could be the new Tool and not actual new Tool material?

Yeah, there's no way they played an actual new song from Tool. It would've been on the Internet in five seconds, especially given Tool's rabid fanbase.

Yeah.... no. I know Maynard.

I thought it weird as well. Whatever it was, it was weak.

here's another song that's been released. This will be on the remix cd: http://www.cky2k.org/upload/uploads/a_perfect_circle_the_outsider_resident_renholder_mix_fizz.mp3

unlike the Pet remix, this one is good.

also, there is talk of APC and Chris Cornell appearing near the RNC for a concert...but nothing for sure.

and some humor from tool's official site:

The cult classic musical "FORBIDDEN ZONE" (1980 Hercules Films) is finally available on DVD (bet the Tool DVD won't take that long!).

:lol

I really don't know what to think of all this. It's too overwhelming first (everything is obviously being rushed - probably some deadline the band had to meet) The "Pet" remix is interesting (especially the video) but the whole new political CD is a little lame. I hate it when bands do stuff like that and I was hoping Maynard would remian hush hush like he used to be. The remix CD is not a bad idea since it's mostly Lohner playing around with things and its coming with the Live DVD anyway so what do I care.

And as far as the new Tool is concerned, no.

So much for it being all new material.

APC covering Marvin Gaye? o_O

:lol It will either be awesome, or be god awful. There will be absolutely no middle ground. I wanna hear Maynard hit those low notes.

But this sucks, I really wanted a new APC album. Oh well, good bands need time to release another album anyway, so I guess this is a good thing. I think APC's next album will be good. I'm hoping so. Mer de Noms and The Outsider isn't enough. :D

Anyone know the tentative Tool album release date at this current time? I heard on toolshed.down.net that it may be due sometime later this year.

well there will be at least a few brand new songs. not near a whole album, but some stuff they made while on the road will be on there.

and yeah, for new Tool it's looking like early 2005. at least i hope. the dvd this year would be spectacular.

Start fighting with me again and see what happens... believe me, you won't like it. Ask CK.
*cough*permaban*cough*

So yeah, let's all get along ok? Ok. I don't want to get banned again thanks.

:lol 'sall good now.

I think only the last one or two times before you were banned were people actually looking for trouble. I know one time in particular you actually weren't trolling and people started shit with you.

But it looks like we're past all that now =)

WTF are you people's problem. He just said go out and vote. He didn't say "Vote for Kerry or you’re a bunch of racist right wingers." Yeah it's obvious that he leans more to the left but so fucking what he has the right to voice his opinion as much as the guy next to me at work has the right to say "Hey I think Bush is just great." Do you have to be a politician to make a statement about the goings on of the government? If that's the case then we would get told jack shit most of the time and just shit when they did say something.

To illustrate my point: I wish that Martin Luther King would have just shut the fuck up and preached the bible rather than spouting all his crap about dream’ in and shit. He's a preacher for Christ sake why should I listen to him about how we should treat the blacks. FUCKING MORON!!!! Also I can't stand that rich plantation owner Benjamin Franklin that decided to write that fucking Declaration of Independence crap. I don't need him to tell me about why I shouldn't like England? What gave him the nerve to think anyone wanted to hear what he had to say? He should stick with doing what he knows best running slaves and shut up about politics. .

Yeah. I think I know the thread you're talking about. It's bullshit, too. Because they then turned around and said I was giving THEM trouble which got me banned.

Before I say anything, I think maynard is an amazingly talented musician, and one of the best vocalists out there.

Now, people might have a problem because he is pushing an agenda, he is not simply "stating his opinion". If he put the statement on the webpage without the cartoon then it would be ok to most people. However the cartoon and statement together does nothing but show he is trying to influence his fans with his agenda.

I have this problem with someone on either side of the political fence. Like I said before and some others have stated, We, I enjoy maynard as a muscian, not a freaking political spokesman. He has always been a person in the shadows, and yes has always had a strong political veiw, but it was never presented in such a low way.

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
well then again, it never really needed to be. if this same situation was happening last election, i do think he would have done the same thing.

but, i respect everyone's opinions, and i can't disagree one way or another. yeah, he's definitely anti-bush....but so what. that's his opinion. it's up to the mindless drones for him to make a difference.

everyone knows i'm the biggest maynard whore on this board, and i see no problem with him saying his opinion. i voted for bush last election, and this election there seems to be no real good candidate, but i will not vote for bush. period. but i have no problem with maynard trying to urge people to vote his way. hell, turn on any news station and you'll get the same thing, just not as blatant.

Dude if you don't like Bush anymore, vote for Kerry. Gotta go with the lesser of two evils. Like Maynard said, every vote counts.

So fucking what? People push agendas all the fucking time. I have a friend who told me to go see Alien Versus Predetor, because he thought it was cool. I didn't get all pissy with him and tell him to shut up because he's a store manager and doesn't have the authority to tell me what movie I should see . What I said back to him was, cool but I think it looks like shit from the previews so I won't go see it. I didn't get all bitching and up at arms because someone suggested something to me. I suggest that you do the same when Maynard or any other celebrity tells you to do something you don't agree with.
