Y2Kev goofed and posted under his own account with the title and personna of ModBot.

This makes me really sad :(

I always thought modbot was as his tag said: Not a mod, just a bot.

I guess he was a mod after all.

I feel like a child who just found out santa isn't real.

I can't believe I just spent over an hour reading through most of this thread. Lionel could have saved me some time if he had a recap narrative prepared but then I wouldn't have been able to get the full readers experience. Hopefully Lionel reads this thread tomorrow so we can have some thread closure, because Thatcher no longer has the posting ability to do the same.

He said so in the thread.

But it's such a dramatic 180 of attitude.. so many RECENT statements that he'd bend over backwards for even an interview.. to this "doormat" and power play rhetoric. Not to mention topping it off with a sexist insult mentioning "submissive" behavior (after being convicted of battery on his ex-GF.) edit: he pleaded 'no contest'.. I'm unsure of the legal distinction between that and a conviction

Occam's razor, he just got defensive and prideful when people started calling him out on it. He wanted reassurance he did the right thing, he only got it from a few pretty misguided people, and then his defensiveness kicked in and he convinced himself he was right.

This thread made me feel grateful for not being a super prick and not knowing it. Imagine if the wolrd around you felt like we did this night. I shrug.
Well, Ahasverus...

Jesus, Thacker. What became of you? Blaming everyone else for your failures in a video game, and then doing the same thi... oh.

Oh.

Did OP really live with his parents? I saw a couple of references to that, and at least one seemed to indicate that OP had said as much himself. Man, if that's true, and OP walked away from a chance at $70k despite mooching off his parents... that would just be an incredibly shitty thing to do.

I'm a fuckin trust fund baby, and I definitely would've stayed for the interview
For what it's worth, I'm somewhat jelly of OP for being such an alpha :(

What if this all ends with a thacker/marwan reincarnation lording success and wealth?

Bugs Bunny would be forever ruined.

huh? What's the story here?

It's not racism. I am sure peruvians are great people. They just suck at dota.

And I have more of a problem with not being able to communicate with them, than I do the fact that they are terrible at dota.

Here's another example.

Black people are great, have many friends that are black. Best friends even.

But black people suck at hockey.

Is that racism?

Thacker said a bunch of stuff in the dota 2 thread. Basically blamed many of his losses on non-english speaking players on his team (which is not uncommon among dota 2).

Firm believer that Peruvians conspired to ruin his Dota experience. Seemingly oblivious to his asshole demeanor.

Ah, thanks. Yeah, pattern is rather unfavorable.

All one needs to do is apologize and start to make those changes, then hopefully people will notice. But if not, at least you changed, right?

Yeah I do doubt he was trolling.

Just crazy to see the juxtaposition of some of the posts. But you are right in that a simpler explanation makes more sense. It's still some interesting psychology. A man rebounding into prideful confidence so shortly after removing the barrier that forced him to be humble. Going out with an insult that subtly referenced attitudes that may have influenced the crime that put him in that position in the first place.

Only indirectly by insinuation. Or by making me look dumb.

Feeder line from Clue?

"You don't need any help from me, sir."

But seriously, does milk hate me because I intimidate it? I intimidated my last manager, she kept saying so. I didn't even do nothin.

Holy fuck at the meltdown....it was happening when I left, but I never thought it would become a volcano.

OP needs to grow the fuck up.

Well I'll be damned.

I stopped by to buy some milk on my way to work. Thacker has validated what I had always known, I'm submissive :(

Because I bought a *gallon* of milk.

NPD? (Don't have a psych background so am actually asking that as a question - the combined behavior pattern just seems uncomfortably familiar.)

This is definitely some prime thread of the year material right here.

Hope he's still lurking.

Thread surely did explode. When backfire happens here, it happens hard.

I know first hand about backlash in here. My dog ate poison thread sure got ugly (the dog made it just fine, btw, and is sitting next to me), but it was entirely my fault for making it so hastily and not telling people right away that I don't live in the US or in a place with access to 24 hours animal hospitals. I probably shouldn't have made it in the first place, but I was freaking out and thought GAF might provide some help on what to do. It didn't help that I just stopped coming back to it once it got really ugly.

I just saw the thread, and damn it swells up to over 1800 post. I just finished reading the OP , and geez. That title is funny as hell.

Any summary?

WTH did i just read!
Basically he had been going on for pages upon pages upon pages about how Peruvians ruined every Dota 2 match he lost. He made that post, and even would claim he was the "best Luna (character in the game) ever" or something absurd like that, despite people finding evidence of things he could improve on in his play.

He also cooked up a tin-foil-hat-worthy post on the Diablo 3 official forums that claimed that Blizzard was holding back loot from the "hardcore" (not to be confused with the game mode) players because they wanted to reward casual players.

Of course, we later found out in this thread that he botted pretty much his entire time in the game, so he wasn't even actually one of those "hardcore" players.

I'm a an amateur armchair e-psychologist with a penchant for pulling diagnoses out my ass and I'd say that's right on.

LOL.. I dunno.. could be a mild thing exaggerated by e-anonymity and anger. His story demonstrates anger problems, and it can translate to crazy sounding posts that aren't trolling but are exaggerations of how you really feel.

Yep, sounds like Thacker to me.

Holy shit that's hilarious.

That post by him in the DOTA thread is something else...just wow;
