Oh okay. So we can feel for him because he played football before killing a bunch of people.

Got it

This guy could of been a shining example to kids that dream to make it one day, whatever that may be. He could of been something good in this world, by showing that you do not have to be slinging and hustling to make it. A real role model in this already difficult world, by making a positive difference for the better.

The fact that he squandered that fantastic opportunity that he had is what is a waste. No one feels sorry for what he did. It's ultimately what he didn't do that's a waste. I believe that if you make it one day, it's important to give back.

He wasted it all.

Extremely sad. Anybody who watched the NFL knew that this guy could play his ass off. He was on the way to becoming the greatest TE duo in history with Gronk. Dude was just too much of a dumbass and couldn't shake his past. What a tragedy.

I only reserve the slightest bit of sympathy for him as it may turn out that he had CTE otherwise byeeeeeeeee

also :lol at your picture Sanjuro.

Grizzlyjin

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I guess he fooled everyone into thinking he wasn't thinking about doing it?

Well he got his life sentence awhile back. Couple years ago now, right? He was in gen pop so they couldn't have been that worried about him.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Never heard of the guy, but the whole thing sounds all kinds of fucked up. Ppl in the thread talking CTE: was he a boxer or football player or something?

To end the argument Hernandez kept it "Code of the streets" and only tussled with other street dudes and no innocents; the double murder was over random fudes spilling a drink...

They just had a former corrections officer call in and paint a clearer picture. Apparently this likely involved him needing to have the strength to lift his legs and strangle himself. No opportunity to snap your neck.

Guy could have had the greatest life
Money, fame, championships

Threw it all away because of his past, that just gets you sometimes

What a waste of life but a lesson for everyone out there

Weren't the two from the double murder he was acquitted of also in gangs themselves?

Don't know much about this guy, only briefly read about him on wikipedia and in this thread, but it seems like people are giving him a bit too much respect for a murderer? I might also just be misreading the tone here, but this guy is like the pinnacle of someone who should be locked up forever - why do so many people seem to speak about him and his past with such reverence?

1) Suicide is a touchy subject, lots of people may know someone or have been close to someone that has attempted or succeeded in killing themselves so it comes with a bit of automatic sympathy.

and less so:

2) He was very good at sports ball

Its not just you. i came in here and did pretty much what you did and got the same vibes.

Yes, always a delight reading comments from people complaining about how suicide is such a "pussy move for cowards".

Solid post and hits the nail right on the head. What Hernandez did was wrong no doubts there. But to me, personally, it's sad to see someone with so much potential just let it go to waste as you eloquently put it. As someone raised in an urban environment, you always pull for those dudes who "made it out the hood" to see his fall from Grace and ultimately his suicide is painful to me.

Death is a really weird thing to cherish.

And he only killed one person btw, he just won the double murder case.

EDIT: Obviously fucking killing somebody is bad! That wasn't what I was stating. I was stating that he only has been convicted for one murder. Many people itt keep saying he killed multiple people, and while he most likely did, I just wanted it to be clear that he has been trialed and convicted for one murder

Context is key.

Only? Is that a point of argument?
That's one too many.

No, I just see a lot of people saying that he killed people. People being plural and I think they are connecting that to the double murder in which he just beat. Wanted to clear that up.

Most, myself included, would say leave the past behind if you make it. However that is easier said than done when your old buddies were there for you when you had no money or fame.

Just to be clear, that means that the state could not prove their case not that he did not do it.

Conviction or not he certainly killed more than 1 person. Who shoots a car full of people during their recruiting trip to college? A damn serial killer is who does that. Dude had bodies on him before he was out of highschool. No doubt about it.

Yes. Cold blooded murderers are a huge burden to society. For his relatives/friends the knowledge that he lives and might get out one day is a daily source of dread. For the state it's very expensive to keep him locked up and secure.

I don't approve of the death penalty, but this was his own decision and it was the right one.

Al Capone never murdered anyone either, right?

He did it. He just wasn't criminally convicted of it.

And the civil trials haven't even gotten under way.
