Most of us know by now that Xbox has begun bringing select titles to PS5 this year, with the trend set to continue next spring with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. However, a new rumour is suggesting that the reception to this particular announcement has led to Microsoft squeezing the brakes on its multiplatform plans.
According to eXtas1s, the Spanish insider who regularly leaks accurate Game Pass news, Microsoft has either "paused" or "slowed down" bringing its games to PS5. The leaker is keen to stress that Xbox hasn't cancelled these plans, but the fan reaction to Indy's simultaneous PS5 announcement has made Xbox take notice.

Interestingly, while these multiplatform plans don't seem to have been stopped entirely, eXtas1s does state that popular Xbox series' Gears and Halo are "red lines" for Microsoft - seemingly meaning that those two franchises are completely off the table for bringing to other platforms like PS5.

Finally, the insider adds their opinion that Microsoft "will continue to move forward" once the Indiana Jones reaction has died down - and we can see this happening as well. A lot of the community frustration seems to have stemmed from Xbox not waiting to announce the game for PS5, so maybe Team Green will take a more cautious approach with these PS5 reveals in the future.

As always, this is all rumour for now, and Microsoft has not come out with any new information on its future PS5 plans at this stage.

eXtas1s claims that Microsoft has "paused" or "slowed down" the release of its games on PS5 due to fan reactions to Indy’s simultaneous announcement.

That's weird, why now? Aren't the (big) games selling well or it's happening the same with Sony games selling like crap on PC?

Oh sure... Suddenly Microsoft cares about what their users tell them? Doesn't make sense, especially since the same people reacted the same way to the first round of games like SOT.

Is this the same eXtas1s that said 17 day one games were coming to Game Pass in September?

I’d be shocked tbh. The only thing that could realistically turn them around is more console sales and for their fanbase to actually buy the games.

I don’t believe a word. As soon as you bring one game over to another platform, all bets are off. The floodgates are open. The precedent is set.

Once you open Pandora’s box, it can’t be closed.

There is the possibility a lot of gamers thinking will be to hold off purchasing future Xbox hardware and wait for the games to release on PlayStation 5/6 along with PC and depending on the game, Nintendos next system.

And here I was thinking that MS would possibly layout its plans right before Christmas to get a boost during the holidays but it seems they will remain vague and unresponsive.. letting rumors run its business. 🤷‍♂️

It's not a contradiction, it's a cause and effect relationship.
Whenever a negative rumor comes out, which displeases the Xbox cult lunatics, a rumor appears to "balance things out"
Helldivers 2 is a success, Phill Spencer blows the dog whistle "it doesn't benefit the industry by being exclusive" to guide the faithful of the xbox sect that now is the time to "spread rumors that HD2 will come out on xbox"

Bring em to PC. It's my platform, it's my gaming life.
I can't remember the last game they released. Starfield expansion?

I don’t believe this at all and I definitely won’t believe it when PS5 Indy makes 4-5x the money the Xbox one does. Sounds like cope.

Just make a PC/Console hybrid next gen and release your products on everything simultaneously. Your selling point for buying the hardware should be power and customization of a PC with ease of use of a console. The pitch to the customer should be "Best Of Both Worlds!!!". Trying to push hardware with exclusives won't work anymore. The day you opted to put a single game on PlayStation that dream was over. You would never catch Nintendo doing that shit.

Xbox : What will make you buy our games?
Player : not releasing on ps5 so soon.
Xbox : So if we increase the time it takes to come to ps5 will you buy it?
Player : Well 'buy' is such a strong word. I'll rent it for a months sub via gamepass and pay around a third of the price PS5 players would give you for it.
Xbox : DEAL!!

Why is this fake, exactly? Game is coming out soon on Xbox and it’s totally plausible that it did fail certification but they put it on the back burner to get the other ones out and are just finishing it now.

It was people like Jez who implied that there was a secret Sony deal to make it exclusive.

The lack of leadership on XBox is almost a case of scienfic study!
No dude, it all makes sense.

Not enough people buy their games on Xbox to justify their big budgets.
Solution: make their games multiplatform.

Nobody is buying Xbox anymore.
Solution: make their games exclusive.
