According to eXtas1s, Microsoft has either 'paused' or 'slowed down' bringing its games to PS5.

Absolutely. As an avid Nintendo fan, I would love to be able to play Zelda and Mario Odyssey and all those other great games at 4K/60fps with achievements and a controller with a headset jack. That would be amazing.

Nintendo could have their own achievement system, they could even use the Mario 1up sound effect as the unlock noise. I doubt they will tho.

They’ve made it pretty clear they don’t think system-level achievements are a priority. At least until maybe the new system? We’ll see.

I don’t like the idea of game-specific sound effects for achievements, unless it plays a sound effect from the series that you’re playing. That would be cool. But I don’t want to shoot an alien in Metroid Prime 4 and hear a Mario coin grab sound. That sounds awful.

Yesterday I was told all their games from Gears to Halo were going to PlayStation, now today it's all paused?

Maybe we should stop listening to know nothing twats and the bollocks they say, no matter which side of the console war they are pandering to.
Fucking this dude. Christ, can everyone just fuck off with the console war rumor mill? So boring.

If MS wants to remain relevant in the console space, they need 90+ rated AAA exclusive games, giving people an incentive to buy the console. Just like Sony and Nintendo have successfully done. It's that simple. But now it might be too late even IF they tried to do that. People are building up massive libraries of games, and they are not going to alienate that hardware.

It is what it is. Your choice. You can move on to PC, PS or Nintendo, or you can just ride out Xbox for as long as MS does. I personally am not sold on the direction MS is taking Xbox. I love what they have in their studios, but the incentive isn't there when their games are going to PC, PS and Switch.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
eXtas1s as a source? How desperate are you?

Hmm, you certainly didn't have any issue believing him before. 🤔

There's no way they wouldn't know hardcore fans wouldn't be pissed at the choice, so I doubt for a second it had any influence on this whatsoever. Nor does it change the need to make up for extra sales on other consoles due to lagging hardware numbers.

Microsoft were surprised that Xbox fans didn't like Indiana Jones coming to PS5 as a 'one more thing' announcement? Get fucked, even suits aren't that dumb.

“No interference from above”? C’mon. At no major company do you not have to answer to someone. That’s not a thing.

The issue isn’t interference, it’s not having a strong first-party stable of games to come out at a steady cadence to drive your install base. They’ve been surviving almost purely on back compat, Game Pass, and third-parties for years now. And we are seeing the results of that now, long-term.

It’s either Game Pass that’s not a selling point and a hardware mover, or it’s the library on Game Pass that’s not a selling point or a hardware mover. We’ve sort of eliminated everything else, outside of they need more, better first-party games.
Xbox has been going downhill since the second half of the Xbox 360 generation, it’s clearly a leadership issue,

Wait, Indy has been announced for PS5? When did that happen? I thought they were still pretending it's gonna be Xbox/PC only.

Edit: Was announced in August I guess. Weird that I don't remember this! Must be early signs of dementia.

The idea they're slowing down, or even pausing, their plans because of how people reacted to Indiana Jones going multi-platform seems... not like how Microsoft operates. And make no mistake: Microsoft is running Xbox, and they only care about getting paid.

Think MS need one final reset with the new Xbox or just give up completely, the Series S killed any momentum the X had with multiple devs coming out and speaking against it (being honest the machine to me was great when I had to work away for 3 months and I could play latest releases on a portable box for that time so I got what MS was TRYING to do) but like most, everyone has just moved to Playstation.

If they have now seen they need to give the console space one more try, A powerful console (which we know they can do, the X is a great machine and console but not much to really pull you to play on it), and possibly the rumoured portable like Steam Deck device would give it a good start of pulling people into the Xbox eco system.

Think I've seen most people say if MS did a dedicated handheld, they would be more interested in the Xbox ecosystem, just feel MS don't listen to their consumers atall.

We know they are making a new Gears, Halo etc potentially prepping it for this new Xbox console.

I honestly wonder if moves like this will even matter anymore. I think what we are seeing is just brand damage. No one wants to invest in that ecosystem anymore. If they want to go handheld they'll probably go with the Switch 2. If they want to play locally they'll have a PS. It's going to be hard to reverse any lost momentum now with them releasing their games on all the other platforms.

I honestly don't even think MS is interested in hardware like that anymore. I do think they keep something in the market but they have other priorities.

Well it makes sense, they would essentially kill what's left of their fanbase if they kept this up. I think if they keep it to smaller exclusives or really old exclusives that don't represent the core Xbox lineup then they can thread the needle.

They already had it, it was called the Series consoles.

They're not going to risk torching a crown jewel franchise like COD or Elder Scrolls just to keep some Twitter warriors happy with them.

Rumor that displeases Xbox fanboys: it's generally true

Rumor that pleases Xbox fanboys: it's generally a lie

It's just news planted to please Xbox fanboys.
If Phill Spencer really lies on the internet to please Xbox fanboys, why wouldn't he spread fake rumors?
Gotta feed the trained Xbox fanboys

It's not a contradiction, it's a cause and effect relationship.
Whenever a negative rumor comes out, which displeases the Xbox cult lunatics, a rumor appears to "balance things out"
Helldivers 2 is a success, Phill Spencer blows the dog whistle "it doesn't benefit the industry by being exclusive" to guide the faithful of the xbox sect that now is the time to "spread rumors that HD2 will come out on xbox"

Exactly as I predicted... Another rumor manufactured to keep xbox lunatics engaged with this "box" of phill shit

I don't doubt that it was Phill Spencer himself who still makes these rumors, the idiot seems to be the typical imbecile who believes in his own lies, in his own lunatic narrative of "good versus evil" that he spent the last 10 years feeding saying that he It's the "good" one because it offers games on GamePass Day One... That Sony forced him to buy a PS5 with a "forced bundle" of Horizon FW... that Sony wants to grow by reducing the Xbox, poor Xbox... The victim of Sony's demonic oppression.

I believe MS will be more careful about how they announce their PS5 versions in the future. How they did it with Indy was pretty stupid, from a PR perspective. I don't need an unsubstantiated rumor to know they'll tweak their approach based on the backlash. I don't believe they will "pause" anything, though. They'll just make a minor course correction and continue with whatever plan they have.

If it's real, it's only inb4 investors see the charts still going down and be like...

That moment when they ask them 'Why u no money me' 🤨 and they answer they're not selling on Xbox, but refuse to sell on PS5, will be followed by 'fire me some meat popsicles' and 'go make me money'.

When you've splurged 70b you expect a return for them or skulls for the Board Throne 🤷🏻‍♂️

Totally different leadership in place back in 2008, I doubt every single member of Xbox leadership in the last 15 years have just all been brazenly incompetent. That’s quite the charge.
