House of Wolves, the second expansion for Destiny, will be out in just over a month, publisher Activision announced today. We’ll be grinding again on May 19.

Activision sent out a media blast this morning with a new trailer for House of Wolves, but it’s currently private. They say they sent the news early by accident and that the video will actually be live at 1pm ET today, so we’ll just have to stare at the screen for an hour and a half waiting for the good part, which should be a familiar activity to anyone who plays Destiny.

Destiny's second expansion, House of Wolves, will be released May 19, publisher Activision announced today.

That's about four and a half months after the first expansion, The Dark Below, which launched Dec. 9. The launch date for House of Wolves falls during Activision's previously announced second-quarter release window, and is the exact date that was rumored in a February leak. Destiny itself was released Sept. 9 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. House of Wolves is the second and final expansion in the game's $34.99 Expansion Pass; purchased separately, the two expansions cost $19.99 each.

Bungie said earlier this year that it hopes it will fix some of The Dark Below's mistakes with House of Wolves. In particular, the studio doesn't want to invalidate hard-earned raid gear with items you can just buy from vendors, or force players to re-upgrade exotic weapons. Instead, Bungie is aiming to "lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster," according to designer Luke Smith.

House of Wolves may send players to the Reef in the Asteroid Belt, according to a late-February leak. It would be a new social hub for Guardians to hang out in, a second area beyond the Tower in The Last City on Earth. The leaked information for House of Wolves also mentioned a new Awoken storyline and a third raid, plus three new Crucible maps and another Fallen strike. The Dark Below added one new strike to Destiny as well, but it included an additional strike (and other content) exclusively on PlayStation platforms.

With each of the two February leaks, Bungie advised Destiny players that all House of Wolves content is "placeholder" and is subject to change until the studio officially announces the details. But the expansion's prologue, which you can watch above, seems to confirm the leaked information. In a voice-over, the Queen of the Reef invites Guardians to hunt the Fallen who betrayed her people, the Awoken, after the Awoken gave the Fallen a home in the Reef.

Following House of Wolves, Bungie will put out a "major content release" for Destiny later this year, Activision announced during an earnings call in February. In the meantime, you can read our review of The Dark Below, an expansion that we felt was "just as grandiose and ultimately shallow as the main game," and check out its trailer below.

WILL NOT INCLUDE A NEW RAID ACTIVITY

https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=12764

House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity. We didn't make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year. House of Wolves will have a new cooperative end game activity focused on variety, replayability, and skill – a new battle Arena called The Prison of Elders.

Looking forward to it! Was vaguely hopeful that it would come out sooner, but Bungie already semi-confirmed the release date after the in-game announcement popup leaked.

I don't expect much from it after the previous expansion but I'll play it since I have the Expansion Pass..

i'm some bummed out that these expansions don't have new Trophies/Achievements. It's always a cool addition to go for new trophies on DLCs.

You should be more bummed about the lack of content for the price. Then again his is Activision after all and they charge $4.99 for a single cod map.

Look forward to getting back into it again after being out of it for a while. I just hope the raid is better designed than Scrotums

Yikes. I played destiny for a week and sold it after launch.

Was thinking about jumping back in but the amount of content in the expansions are pathetic.

I'll keep my money.

Looking forward to it. Only booted the game once since Bloodborne came out and that was just to move the icon on my PS4 home screen.

Already came to terms with the fact that this is going to be me on the 20th.

I really hope Acti puts a "Ultimate/Complete Edition" this Holiday season or early next year, that's what I would like to get.

I bought the season pass and didn't even download Dark Below.

I'm gonna need a bit of a game drought to come back to Destiny.

They're going to have a retail presence this fall. But whether it's a "Everything Destiny" or a disc version of Comet #1 we will have to find out

I'd get back into it to at least give it a try, there surely has to be more content than the last DLC. But I can't since re-upgrading my exotics will take months. I'm just not that into it.

They said (i believe even here on Neogaf) they wont make the same mistake with that.
Same with raid gear being useless right away.

I still haven't even downloaded The Dark Bellow despite getting the pass with the Ghost Edition, and May 19 is my Witcher time so this is going to have to be placed on the back burner as well

Fantastic, as a daily Destiny player from launch I'm looking forward to any new content.

Can't seem to find the leak that showed possible weapons from the datamine.

Same day as the Witcher, what awful timing for me. Oh well, haven't played in almost two months anyway. I have the expansion pass so I will get around to it at some point this summer.

Great looking forward to it, and the PVP balancing out the special ammo to stop the crazy shot gun sprees in crucible.

They really are getting mileage out of that cosmodrome map.

Think of the communal areas just as they are, a place to muck around, the missions will be in new areas most likely.

Also don't get the concern posts on story.

Halo had no story that I can recall that made any sense. Nintendo games don't have much of a story in general...its not why these games are played and enjoyed.

Is Destiny the game with the biggest community on GAF? Saw that it's on its 19th OT since september, that's insane.
