Yes.
It's just a waiting game if your parents are still alive!

ComputerNerd said:I don't feel sorry for people who commit suicide.
They're taking the selfish way out, and hurting their family and friends in the process.
Sorry, but that's the way I feel.
aoi tsuki said:He got banned over that? Wow.
Proc said:So if someone you knew/cared about actually were depressed enough to drive themselves to suicide, you wouldn't be sympathetic. Come on dude, have a heart and an open mind.
ComputerNerd said:I might be curious about why they were such an idiot. But that's about it. I just feel there's no excuse for suicide.
ComputerNerd said:Up to you. I don't care either way. You'll be going to hell though.
And it's still taking the easy way out.
aoi tsuki said:i was expecting Andy Dick for some reason.
Burai said:How about because your life is so bleak that you see nothing but living the rest of your life in utter, utter torment? Unless you're suffering yourself or know someone that has, you'll never be able to understand the thoughts of someone with depression who's decided that suicide is the only answer.
Nobody ever takes their own life lightly. It's not something anyone does for fun just to fuck their loved ones over.
Klaxon said:That guy seriously needs to die.
EverSoTrendy said:Don't spout bullshit you know nothing about. It makes you sound like a retard. You have to proof of that and you never will.
SnakeswithLasers said:I still don't buy feeling shitty for people that kill themselves (unless you know them personally). Aren't most suicides at their HAPPIEST immediately before they kill themselves because they've finally "figured it out"? In that context, these people get to knock off at their choice, at their time, in the manner they so choose and in so doing say "Fuck you" to everyone that cares about them. Fuck that - I'm not going to feel sad for a second for THEM - their family and friends on the other hand? That's a whole different story.
Ya, but if it WAS him the word "comedian" wouldn't be in the thread title...

broadwayrock said:If you look at it another way:
Wouldn't it be selfish if the family and friends wanted the person to endure severe depression just so they don't have to feel sad?
Depression and comedy go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Most comedians are pretty dark people, and have been for many, many years. Belushi and Farley come to mind, but more recent examples are Mitch Hedberg and Richard Jeni.castle007 said:These are all comedians. I am not saying that other actors in hollywood don't hace issues, but this seems to be a wakeup call for the comedy business in Hollywood
EverSoTrendy said:It's not that you touched a nerve, it's that you try to use that as some form of backing for your argument. You have no idea what happpens when someone dies, and you never will until you die. Saying someone is going to hell for killing themselves is dumb.
Why do you put that aside?glistenm said:Depression isn't something permanent*, and guess what? Your family and friends might be able to help you out of depression!
Suicide on the other hand...
*actual chemical imbalances and severe mental disorders aside.
ComputerNerd said:So we're not allowed to talk about opinions on the boards? I thought that's what they were for?
BTW, "Saying someone is going to hell for killing themselves is dumb." is an opinion. I'm not bashing you for expressing it.

mckmas8808 said:WOW! Calm down man. What he said wasn't that bad.
ComputerNerd said:Which is why it's called an opinion. Since when was it the NeoGAF rules that you could only post facts?
BTW, your opinion is not a fact. To you it may be retarded, but to others it isn't.
Also, "My opinion was fact" isn't the smartest thing somebody has posted today.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me.SnakeswithLasers said:I'd venture it's something along the lines that these people have always had imbalances in their lives and grew up using humor to either fix or hide their problems - this turned into a career, but they never got the help they needed. This probably also applies to musicians.
Kal said:Wow! He's entitled to an opinion no matter how stupid/sensible it sounds. He doesn't have to "proove" anything lol
EverSoTrendy said:My opinion is based on reasoning. There's is no proof scientific or otherwise that comes to the conclusion, that if someone kills themselves they are going to hell. You can have a popular belief all you want. The simple fact is, YOU HAVE NO PROOF. That isn't an opinion that is fact. Until you can come up with proof on your shitty argument than try to argue with me.
In no way shape or form should this conversation even still be going on right now. I have derailed this tragic thread enough. I will have no more of your ludicrous crackpot opinions.
You can't hide behind "it's just my opinion" when asked to back something up. That's called a cop-out. It was a stupid argument to begin with, but he's right- you stated it as a fact rather than an opinion. "You'll go to hell". That's not a subjective statement. That he's "taking the easy way out" is.ComputerNerd said:It's fun watching you blow up. Seriously, chill out.
I made a few points before that you're now confusing. I said that what I typed was an opinion. Yes, I said it was opinion. No need for you to argue that point anymore.
My current argument is why can't I post my opinion? That's what you're saying. Since it's not a fact, I shouldn't post it.
I'm taking your stance there against opinions, then wondered why you posted "It makes you sound like a retard". Which is an opinion.
Little hypocritical, no?
Well, you have to take a quote like "He's going to hell" as an opinion, since it can't be proven anyway.demon said:You can't hide behind "it's just my opinion" when asked to back something up. then how do you deal with yourself on a daily basis?EverSoTrendy said:Yeah true, but the way he worded it sure didn't sound like a opinion. I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt. Now he's just on ignore. I don't like preachy people.

We all were. We all were.I always expect Andy Dick.![]()
Now you just sound retarded. When you come into a thread about someone's death, someone who died going through assumably unbearable emotional anguish and say that "he is going to hell", don't be surprised when you get this kind of reaction.ComputerNerd said:So anytime I, or anyone else, states an opinion, we need to add an "IMO"?
Sounds redundant, since nearly every sentence we type is an opinion.
I can turn your argument around on yourself, and add that "It was a stupid argument to begin with" is an opinion. And thus, according to you, you have to state that that is your opinion.
See why that restriction is stupid?
Dang it! Forgot the IMO on that last sentence!
Edit - And it's not like I said "It's a fact that he's going to hell". I never claimed it to be fact.

And no shit that sentence was my opinion. You're a sharp one, aren't you.

Thank you. As someone who grew up with severe depression in a really bad family, I can understand what it's like to feel suicidal. In their minds, it's definitely not selfish. I don't buy this whole "it's selfish" thing. People die, families grieve for a while and get over it. It's a part of life. Just because someone goes prematurely doesn't suddenly change the game. I believe those driven to suicide are hurting a hell of a lot more than those left behind. And I think it's more selfish to want to keep someone alive in their own personal hell, just because you yourself would miss and grieve them.
SnakeswithLasers said:Every time I see children who are struggling through cancer I think about the selfish pieces of shit that waste their lives instead of getting the help they need. Fuck those people.
