Ad Astra's reviews are really good

84% positive with 43 reviews.

I'm hyped as fuck to see this. Anyone with me?

Reaction to the trailers

Seems mixed. I know this movie was billed as an “awards contender” and something the studio was waiting for the right time to release

I'm retarded?
Do we really care about the critics? Same critics, who are easily offended? Will we ever stop acknowledging movies based on "oh wow it's doing well on RT it must be great/bad!". I'm not saying the movie is bad, it's just tiresome how movies/shows we like are ok when critics praise them but we raise pitchforks when movies/shows we like get garbage scores because of the same woke critics you just previously acknowledged. Sorry for the rant but I'm tired of that ass of a site RT. How did they not criticize this as another white male sci-fi movie?

Anyway, I was going to watch the movie regardless of someone elses opinion. It's sci-fi after all.

I agree wholeheartedly my friend, no worries there. Be it games or movies or whatever critics are just a part of the whole and won't matter much. I just find it interesting that the reviews are good, that's all :messenger_smiling:

I was interested at first but apparently trailers are not indicative of the movie at all so I'll wait till I know what the movie actually is before I decide.

Really? I'd much rather just jump in and be surprised.

I'm an old man so I take my time very seriously these days. Besides Pitt has been talking about how the movie is about figuring out your masculinity and getting in touch with yourself, yadda yadda yadda. I'll wait till my friend sees it then decided. Portman's astronaut movie is much more interesting to me right now anyway.

Watched it, this was a slow burn that went no where. Some scenes were nicely shot but overall not worth the time it takes to view it.

Basic premise is he goes seeking his dad and turns out his dad is a bit nuts and looking for life when he's had a family all along he neglected.

Not much else to it.

Apart from being a pure shit sci fi movie with 0 essence, I distinctly remember being positively horrified at the space pirate/terrorist rover chase shootout scene - absolute stupidity. Utterly unbelievable.

That scene was dumb, yes. Almost pointless.

The movie wanted to be this subtle and realistic take on what the future of space travel means to humanity but it was total boring trash.

In the original third act it was revealed that Tommy Lee Jones was trying to trigger a new Big Bang. Test audiences hated it so it was reshot. The movie builds up to the villain reveal and then it completely falls apart.
