Adam Sessler"Titan Fall one of the Most Enjoyable things I've played at a Convention"

They had me at double jump.

Also at this crazy fucking gun.

Pretty sure that's the sticky grenade launcher. My highlight was the handgun that could lock on to multiple targets and then deliver a deadly shot to like 3 guys at the same time.

Some notes:

- Ea owns Titan not respawn.

- A year exclusive is still an exclusive.

- Yes ms has the money to make it a real exclusive if it does well enough.. See gears

Gears is a completely different situation and was a IP developed at the start as being exclusive to MS with MS handling all producing and publishing of the title.

That is NOT THE CASE WITH TITANFALL.

EA has stated both at investor meetings and publicly that it is positioning Titanfall as a 3 title shooter Rotation to help combat Activision - Battlefield, Titanfall and Battlefront. They are using the game to leverage the playing field Activision has with COD. They are in no way they are letting it stay on one platform.

It pointed to him trying to defend MS at all costs during that time going against pretty much everyone he interviewed. What his stance is right now I don't know.

Hmm, thinking back on his coverage I think you might be right. I let his fast deteriorating appearance and health cloud my opinion on his coverage.

I really should go back and watch it and see just how biased he was...

Must be really good if he's so enthusiastic about a mp-only game. Same goes for a lot of upcoming mp heavy Ubisoft games he's excited about like The Division and The Crew. After alll he's let known in the past that he is not the biggest mp fan.

as respawn ms and ea never said it was a timed exclusive right?

Do you have source for that?

If EA owns the IP then Titanfall won't be an exclusive for ever, EA won't pass up the money from porting Titanfall to PS4.

Was just covering the fanboy wars conspiracies. I have %100 faith that ea will not make it a sole xbone exclusive BUT coming out a year later means nothing to ps4 and people need to except that.

EA is not going to make their COD killer or rival exclusive lol. Your forgetting this is EA.

Glad I wasn't the only only one who could see it. He's still one of the most intellectual journalists out there though.

CBOAT is not infallible as we've seen recently so until we see it actually confirmed. It should surely be classed as port begging?

Because I'm not really sure what saying I'm waiting for the PS4 version actually adds to these threads?

Respawn pretty much said it was timed exclusive and along with CBOAT I think saying, "can't wait for this on the ps4" can be considered as not port begging.

No but people rarely do. No one comes out and says "Hey we got this game exlcusive for a year, so if you don#t want to buy our console just wait for a bit mmkay?"

they would not say it on a stage...but the day after everyone would know what is timed and what no...

the only thing respawn said when a ps controller was spotted in a video at their studio ..was..."we play games on ps too....titanfall is exclusive to xbox"

Yeah it won't be a big deal for the first title thats for sure.

Do we have a release date or general release window?

I'm still not seeing anything super special from the screenshots/clips, but they've obviously got something special with the gameplay for people to be raving about it. Add that to the fact that I enjoyed MW1 & 2 a lot and I guess I'm not really surprised that they managed to create something fresh and fun.

Wich is why i'm hyped out of my mind lol

I'm trying to refrain from hyping myself up. I fucking LOVE Mirror's Edge. I really liked, maybe even loved, Armored Core 4 and AC:FA. But.... I hated CoD. The campaigns were good, but I cannot freakign stand the MP in CoD titles. So yeah, if this game takes the best aspects of Mirror's Edge and AC then it might make up for the CoD vibe I get from it.

I'm gonna give it a shot, but I'm trying to tone down my hype meter until I get hands-on impressions.

I love Sessler and I love that he loves this game. Super hyped.

lol You can tell who has never used Origin and just wants to hate on EA for the sake of hatin' on EA (rightfully so). The client works quite well.

The clients shit. Used it for Medal Of Honour and Battlefield, Origin is a pile of shit. Continue your little witch hunts though.

As someone who doesn't care at all about multiplayer games, I am really not looking forward to the non-stop Titanfall talk for the next few years. The game isn't even close to coming out yet, and I am already sick to death of reading/hearing about it.

I don't give a fuck which console this is exclusive to, as it's also coming to PC.

I'm not interested in the game because there is no singleplayer.

Still skeptical about the title until I see a full match to see the extent of the aim assist, and all the weapons. Poured thousands of hours mostly into Halo this generation since I did not like the MW series due to the amount of aim assist being helped by the magnetism, lack of recoil and just balancing in general with perks/kill streaks.

Halo 4 did ruin the series by ramping up the bullet magnetism/messing up balance in general and killed the series trying to make it far more accessible.

Hopefully Titanfall does not have a huge amount of aim assist and bullet magnetism but I am not counting on it.

Will be very interesting to see just how well this title turns out. It seems absolutely unstoppable right now. If it wasn't for MW2, I'd be far more confident. That game was a complete mess and made one almost feel CoD4 was a fluke. I'm a bit worried by just how similar the gun mechanics look to CoDs, and I'm still unsure just how significantly the game will differ in normal play circumstances. Is this CoD with some serious bells on, or is it something entirely new - I'm not that sure yet.

Is there much information about character customisation, loadouts, killstreak-style mechanics? I'd love to see a big multiplayer shooter try and do without them. I'm a prospective PS4 buyer, so will keep my fingers crossed. I doubt that this one game is enough to make me change my mind or pick up an Xbox One as well, but you never know I guess.

im pretty much sure that if titanfall move lots of consoles...ms will pay how much they ask to have it ala "halo" exclusive...

I think EA would have said we had forcasted 1 million units sold on the PS4 and we make $20 on each unit sold, so total PS4 profits would be 20 million dollars and we want double that If you want it X1

The PS3 version probably would of sold at least 2 mill

I think its possible MS paid EA $120 million? I think its possible if EA were going to make $60 mill on the PS4 + PS3 versions?

I've always liked Sessler's Genuine enthusiasm and professionalism. His reporting has been even better since moving on to Rev3.

ok...so titan fall looks promising..probably coming to PS4, will debut on X1 and PC...m'kay

how about some more interesting convo like how much will it sell or something being a new IP? Will FPS be the dominate genre again this generation? What will the next Call of Duty be or will it (COD) repeat dominance? Anything besides this pissing contest of "is the hype real or not?" lol..

Easily possible ... but there are probably other things as well .. free advertising is usually a big one.

Isn't this an EA partners game? And in that case wouldn't it be more up to respawn than EA? I imagine MS struck a deal with Respawn instead of EA quite some time ago, and that is what is keeping it console exclusive.

My most anticipated game. The praise and hype is well deserved. Also, it's hilarious seeing comments about how the hype is manufactured when we're talking about the press that all like and are influenced by the same things. It's not a conspiracy that they for some reason all give the same games high scores but unanimous pre-release hype is blowing up your ham radios.

If it's truly COD killer, then we're talking at least 10 million copy = $200 million.

Of course not.

I liked when he claimed the price difference between PS4 and Xbox One wasn't so high when you include the cost of PS Plus. Because pretending Xbox Live is free is real professional.

Gotta ask why yourself why you are posting in a Titanfall thread then surely?

Titanfall was an EA partners game and usually the independent developer kept the rights to the series they created.

Unless EA bought out the rights when the partners program came to an end.

Is there official citation saying EA own the IP or Respawn?

Do you have source for that?

If EA owns the IP then Titanfall won't be an exclusive for ever, EA won't pass up the money from porting Titanfall to PS4.

Respawn owns Titansfall IP
At EA, we're honored to be their partners and to give them the support they need to hire a team and return to making incredible games." In addition to handling future publishing duties, EA is funding the new developer "with several million dollars in seed capital," LA Times reports. That's unusual for a developer that's retaining the intellectual property rights to its games. "What makes Vince and Jason's deal so ground-breaking is that EA is investing in them as individuals, not as part of a larger, established company," the pair's agent (and former Xbox pitchman) Seamus Blackley told the Times.
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/12/respawn-entertainment/
"We talked to all the major publishers and we were presented with deals," added West. "It really comes down to who's going to respect our culture, give us the freedom to do what we want to do, and let us own the IP so we can assure quality, and EA Partners did that for us."

In a rarity for the highly corporatized video game world, however, West and Zampella will own and have full control over the intellectual property they create.

"This is a total reset," Zampella said. "We're starting again from ground zero. It's daunting and exciting."

For some reason mechs just bore me.

I actually didnt buy Starhawk because they removed the ability to hover and shoot from Warhawk which for me was one of the best parts of the game and they cut it out and replaced it with the ability to turn into a mech.

I even tried hawken recently and mechs just don't do it for me.

Even natural selection the mechs were kinda boring, I did enjoy some of the concepts from that game though. It always made me just want to play SC2 though lol.

What else is this game doing that's mind blowing that hasn't been done before?

How is EA going to milk this franchise I wonder? With CoD they slap a sucky new single player campaign on it and sell it every year. But how does that work with multiplayer only? Pay to win?

I feel sorry for Titanfall.

Game is defo been hurt by being an MS exclusive!

This Major Nelson dude has killed it.
