My opinion, No.

I saw Cap 2 early, and it just made me angry at how shitty they make SHIELD agents look in this show. The action sequences in this show seriously feel like Power Rangers.

Feige needs to be in charge of everything MCU related.
If Loeb is required to stay on, and he is the problem that everyone makes him out to be, then they could let him keep the animated Marvel, tv and movies, but remove all MCU from his control. Let him focus his efforts on fixing the mess that is Marvel animation, not ruining the good will Feige had built with the MCU fan base. And it needs to happen before it infects the Netflix series.

It's an eight-day shoot and we knew from the outset that there were a lot of eyes on the show with very high expectations. People were expecting to see a Marvel movie every week. With the reality of our accelerated post schedule, we are living up to that standard as much as we possibly can.

Man, this is such bullshit. I expected to see some compelling television, nothing more. To me the main problem is the characters. They are completely unbelievable in the role, and they want them to have cute dynamics while at the same time they are supposed to be this handpicked team of top tier agents for a super shady no-nonsense organization. I just can't take them seriously. Either ham it up to the max (like with the Sif ep, which was admittedly the best) or go super dark.

There is a reason why the best moments in the show have not been "character" moments or developments, but just situations. I also think the show is shot super flat and bland. The visuals (with some exceptions) are not good or interesting either. It was surprising because there was one episode (I forget which one) but everyone in this thread immediately noticed it looked better, and I think it was down to a more experienced director with a background as a DP. It is very telling that it was the first thing I noticed (the show having more interesting camera placements, etc) and came here to discuss it and everyone else noticed it too.

But whatever. I'm just a h8er or something.

Nothing too surprising in that interview.

At this point, I feel like they just need a huge culling of staff or seriously rethink things. The execution is just so lacking in nearly every department. And whenever there are signs of good improvement, there's another scene that makes you doubt that they're learning from their mistakes.

I just want a good Marvel show. I want to be able to tell all my friends who bailed early to tune in again because it's genuinely good.

Step 1: Jettison Loeb

Step 2: Hire competent directors and DPs

Step 3: ?????????????

Don't forget action/stunt coordinators and costume designers.

Nailed it.

Oh, and writers that can actually write drama that you can emotionally invest yourself in.

I actually think they have a great cast that is mostly wasted. But at the very least, things have started to get interesting, and Coulson's (and Simmons) has been pretty much the shining light.

What is with these smug responses from the creators? Really? There are better ways to communicate that you are doing something different compared to the movies. Learn some humility, jerks.

Also, what the hell is this:

Have there been any adjustments you've made based on fan response?

Whedon: We think of it as a band playing a song. If everyone goes to the bar when we play a slow number, maybe we don't play as many slow numbers. We try to see what people are responding to and hit those notes harder and test the audience and make those notes interesting.
Tancharoen: There hasn't been a course correction of any kind. The way the season is laid out is how we originally planned it. We're excited for people to see these last seven and see how everything comes together.

Jed: We're continually adjusting the show in response to audience feedback.
Mo: We've changed absolutely nothing in response to audience feedback.

Lol. I will take a one time detour on becoming a comics superstar. Give me my title shot Marvel and I will bring the fans back, make Simmons a star, break Jeph Loebs back, make him humble.

I've never seen a single episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I actually watched 10 minutes of the pilot, but I got bored and never went back again
, but after watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier yesterday (very fun movie, Marvel Studios keeps getting better and better) I was thinking about binge-watching it just because I want to know how will they tackle some of the events during the next episode...

... But after skimming the last pages, I guess I'll just read some reactions and a summary to satisfy my curiosity, like I did with the HIMYM finale :lol

How about something as good as an average episode of Bones or Burn Notice?

That would be a vast improvement for the show.

Speaking of, they should get all the people from Burn Notice. They're not doing anything anymore.

I'd watch Sam Axe, Agent of SHIELD.

At this point, I'm curious what Wozzly can do with AOS...

WOZZLY. ATTEND! Cause this is a great idea.

1. Fire everybody.
2. Hire Spartacus crew, staff and actors.
3. Profit!

At least the fights and drama would be better.

I was so ready for Lorelei to figure out how to work her powers on women. Starting with Sif and Simmons. :<

Greatest idea in this thread thus far.

This is a network show, NTGYK. No lesbionics allowed.

Goddammit. It's all I asked for.

Apparently you didn't see the Pilot.

Well, you'd need to have a soul to lose it, so I'd build up his soul.

I'd also have an episode where Coulson is poisoned and then shot and then spends the entire episode hallucinating and tripping out about his worst fears and the depth of human insanity in the face of the cosmic. It would only be Clark Gregg and Amy Acker in that episode as his guide to insanity.

I'd rather make Simmons a regular in the comics than Coulson.

Real talk.

I want her to have my babies cause she is my queen.

Speaking of, they should get all the people from Burn Notice. They're not doing anything anymore.

I'd watch Sam Axe, Agent of SHIELD.

I WOULD WATCH THIS IN A FUCKING HEARTBEAT.

Don't waste your time. Very little of the series has much to do with the MCU films.

After watching Captain America 2 I've got to wonder how this show will evolve given what happens in that film.

Yeah, but it is clearly in the same universe. So what happens is certainly going to be interesting.

6. 7, 12, and 13 are the ones that I would call good.

Though some of that may be my lowered expectations talking, of course.
Agree on your mentions, as episode 6 was genuinely great (and still my favourite), and 7 now thanks to CA:TWS is now better in retrospective (I also liked 8 too, though I might be on the minority on that).

I'd watch Sam Axe, Agent of SHIELD.
Man, now I'm hyped for something that'll never happen. Why would you do that? :(

I'm just gonna repeat something I've posted before when I say that it seems like the whole point of Agents of SHIELD was for this UPRISING Arc of the show. it was the 12-15 episodes leading up to it was them trying to figure out how to fill the time

Once the show begins to properly develop it's villains, it will become something I can say is really good. Until then, there's too much mystery without much of the allure. Even when they mention the Clairvoyant I can't seem to muster up any excitement for who such a pivotal part of the plot is (whether they're an existing Marvel character or not).

Even with all the criticism it's just rolling of their backs?

Fucking Christ!
Not sure what you expect. they're not going to come out and publically shit on their own show or try to convince people further to check it out by saying "we knows it's been rough, come back for more!" when they've already done so.

i agree with this notion. it is, after all, "an origin story"
