I enjoyed the hell out of that episode. Confirmed that Deathlok is almost all plate under his skin (which is closer to the comic version of him), and shit is going down at SHIELD. Gonna have to watch Cap 2 this weekend so I can be in on it like errybody that got it earlier than the US.

WOW!!!! What was that!?! Where has that show been?!?!??!

That was an hour of non stop amazing shit going down. Finally it feels like this show is actually getting put into the whole marvel cinematic universe.

If the show from now on is going to be like this we have something special here.

There's no way. Network TV tends to trend like a movie with slower starts rising to a crescendo. If it were a Netflix or a Premium Cable show (Cinemax specifically) then, yeah, it could be balls to the walls pretty much the whole way through.

For those wondering, yes this episode does seem to be happening concurrently with that nick fury scene. It was meant to be intercut like that. I've already seen cap 2.

Actually it takes place before Cap 2.

Sitwell is summoned to the Lumerian Star which takes place in the beginning of the film. Also Fury summons Coulson to the Triskelion. The Fury car chase takes place later in the film.

I'm going to guess that Skye calls in some of her Rising Tide connections to give Coulson some manpower that isn't connected to SHIELD.

Next season should be pretty interesting - I have no doubt they'll do some crossover episodes to promote the Netflix Defenders series.

So, I've been following this show since Day 1, watching it and enjoying it but never being blown away and I sit here thoroughly entertained for the last 40 minutes. Fantastic episode, I hope this sets a precedent for the next two episodes and then perhaps a 2nd season.

It even made me finally bite on the Avengers box set for the movies. Interestingly enough, in the UK when the Blu Ray came out it was around £40 everywhere, that price has now risen to £90-£100 and the used copies are rarely as cheap as the £40 ones were. Obviously I shop around on Ebay, Amazon US, etc... but eventually I find, from a UK seller no less, the box set on Amazon.ca for £18 (including shipping).

I hope I don't have to bail due to Cap 2 spoilers. Some shitheads have already risked it in other threads.

But yeah, this was another big step up and *most* of it worked for me very nicely.

Supposed to be nonstop for 6 more episodes I think?

If I were you, I'd bail. GAF isn't safe and Cap 2 deserves to be watched unspoiled.

Fuck...

This show has gotten really good. Some strange actions aside. Graviton, Victoria Hand,, two members injected with Kree stuff. And they're finally starting to get the MU references right. Big step up from the early every episode mentions of "New York" and "stabbed".

We've actually got some pretty good comic stuff on TV right now. And Deathlok worked much better than the press shots implied. Glad I've never been one for that DC/Marvel stupidity. I tend to prefer Marvel, but DC has given me not only awesome comics, but a good string of great TV.

And this show is becoming something pretty great. Makes the early large audience losing start look like complete over meddling by the companies involved. I mean it's not like it could have a metric ton of influence over the cinematic universe, but they kind of left it alone. They should have been using MU references from the outset. Not just pulling from the limited MCU exclusively. Using more lesser known characters from the universe that could have lasting impact on the movies. The introduction of the Kree in the way they did was actually spectacular.

I'm kind of ranting right now with no end point in sight so I'll just say I wish the writers would have been given the freedom to touch on more of the MCU early on than it seemed they were allowed. Marvel has access to hundreds of characters that while maybe not powerhouses on their own could have really fleshed out this universe they are intending to build. Given my hesitancy over their approach to Deathlok initially I've been impressed with how they visually portray him, and to a degree accepting of how he's been written.

A man broken, given immense power, and broken again in spite of this great power. There's not much of Mike left.

Coulson has a little bit of idol worship going on with Skye. It's honestly just getting weird at this point. Still I'm really beginning to love the show. Can't wait to see where it goes.

Definitely good

*SPOILER FILLED THOUGHTS*
Deathlok still silly on the outside, but its whats on the inside that matters. I hope they at least address him in the slightest in TWS.
concerning Victoria Hand, i think it was a foregone conclusion that she would be a sour apple.
please don't kill simmons

I am very excited to see TWS this friday, and then the episode after that, judging by the preview.

it really is all connected now. shame they had to do what seemed relative filler, though it was good filler. Like BlackNMild2k1 said earlier, this is obviously the show they wanted to put on, but of course, the origin needed to happen.

Internet would riot if that happens.

Wait, one of the things she retweets from another guy is (possible Cap 2 spoilers but I'm not sure since I haven't seen the movie)
that Simmons was in the Triskellion during Cap 2. But I thought she was in the lab at the HUB. If so, then Chloe Bennet's got some twitter explainin' to do.

well...
she was accosted at gunpoint in the preview, and will likely be moved to that place.

Where's a good place to start watching? I was interested when I first heard about the show, then I read the reviews and I gave up on it but after The Winter Soldier, I've decided to start watching. I've seen people say that the show has gotten much better than it was in the beginning so should I just skip the earlier episodes or do will I be missing too much?

Episode 11 or 13 would be fine to pick up from.

Early Episodes are without a doubt a cruise control "shit we have to wait till April" issue for sure. Has picked up a lot leading to Cap 2 and based on what's coming its unfortunate that it took this long because a lot of harm was done as far as shows ratings etc.

Holy crap that was an awesome episode. I'm so pumped, not only for Cap2, but for the rest of the season as well.

Simmons better be safe, guys.

What Nick Fury scene?

The scene where they said he is back and will meet with Coulson? Or did my PVR miss something?

I mean, I'm not saying he looked downright amazing, I can see where they should improve and such to make him look more menacing and just better overall. However I still liked the design that was shown.

I said the same earlier.

It worked much much better than I expected after the horrible promotional photos.

Deathlok didn't really work on screen all that well. There was a ton of clever editing to hide him actually. Tons of quick cuts and close ups. That landing scene that looked so goofy in the preview was also shorter in the actual episode.

I'd be a lot more forgiving towards the show if it was filmed well and had good cinematography. It desperately needs to look like it fits into a cinematic universe and it just doesn't.

I'm kinda stunned they haven't got the one-shot folks to help out considering item 47 was the inspiration for the series.

Oh man that was a great episode. It got really tense near the end there. For the first time I'm really looking forward to the next episode.

Should I make sure to watch Cap 2 before the next one?

I would say Yes because Cap 2 changes the marvel universe in a big way

Fuck, that was some good stuff. Really dug that shit. Poor Blake. Deathlok caved his fucking stomach in.

So... Hand isn't the Clairvoyant, right? Who else could it be? Garrett, I guess?

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
That ending felt contrived to me. I don't see Coulson losing trust in May that fast. It's obvious she's reporting to Fury.

That wouldn't be much better at this point. Coulson isn't exactly Fury's biggest fan right now.

Also keep in mind that he just found out the "Clairvoyant" is probably a SHIELD agent, and Ward just murdered a dude (who it looks like may have just been some poor old paralyzed man out of some home).

Shit's falling apart.
