Well, this episode was pretty entertaining. Definitely the best all season. It's entirely because of TWS though.

Do not watch the episode before TWS unless you want several major plot points spoiled. Interested to see what the next 5 episodes will bring, and what the show is even going to look like if it comes back for a second season.

So basically

Garrett and Ward are Hydra and Hand was not?

My head hurts...

I just hope they stick to it now.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if it turns out that Ward isn't actually Hydra and just did it to infiltrate deeper in to counter-spy. I also wouldn't be surprised if he really is Hydra but he has a change of heart BECAUSE SKYE/power of friendship with the team or whatever. Basically...I really hope they commit to this decision now instead of make Ward a good guy again to return to some sort of status quo.

You know they won't.

I'm not gonna have a preference either way, so long as its executed well.

I noticed that this has been getting increasingly better reviews on the AV Club and I'm interested in getting back into this. My interest has increased even more following TWS.

The last episode I watched was "Repairs" (episode 9). I would greatly appreciate suggestions as far as where I restart my viewing. Will I need to watch all of them, or is there a specific turning point where is starts to get better?

Episode 11 on is where it really picks up.

No, most of the show is mediocre at best. The only episodes you really need to watch to get caught up are like 14, 15, and 16 (plus now 17 is the first post-TWS episode). You honestly could probably make sense of it even with just 16 before 17. But 15 has Sif and 14 creates a bit more background for stuff they are referencing.

EDIT: Just realized 11 is sort of important (it's where they sort of tell you what is going on with Coulson) but I still don't think it's a great episode. You can probably just figure it out from the previously on parts in episode 14. Similarly, episode 13 is pretty unnecessary but it has a couple of notable developments in the last few minutes...but they are just summed up in previously ons of later episodes. Episode 12 is completely skipable.

Well... that happened...

Hopefully they can keep it up, because they can't tie into Guardians so another movie isn't going to be able to pull their arses out of the fire until 2015

Turn, Turn, Turn

Ward getting kicked repeatedly instead of shot and grinning at the knife was so groan worthy I nearly died, but it was an amazing episode other than that.

See, I thought

Hand really was a HYDRA agent and that she was pretending to still be with SHIELD to poison Simmons' trust in her team by saying Coulson was part of HYDRA.

and also I was disappointed

that Black Widow uploading all of SHIELD/HYDRA's file to the net wasn't touched on at all. It really makes Skye preserving all of the plane's data pointless.

It sounded like their data hadn't been shared with SHIELD, otherwise there would be no point to wiping the plane's databanks. So...they don't have any of that information anymore, but Hydra does via Ward.

As of the end of the episode, SHIELD hadn't been dissolved yet, it seems, so the aftermath of Black Widow's upload will likely be touched upon soon.

After murdering at least four people in cold blood, Ward's definitely a villain, but he'll probably get some kind of redemption arch through his love for Skye. He's their version of Spike (without the wit): the proscribed bad boy with a deeply buried heart of gold.

Just watched it. Truth be told,
even though I didn't want to believe it, other than Ward killing the fake Clairvoyant previously, the other thing that led me to consider that if someone on Coulson's team had to be Hydra it was Ward was that flashback involving him and the well earlier in the season. Given the ambiguity regarding whose viewpoint it was, I didn't rule out the possibility that Ward was the one doing the intimidating in it (though that much is still speculation on my part). A pity, but if someone had to be a traitor, it may as well have been the most boring person there, and that was certainly him.

Thanks guys.

If 11 is important, I think I will probably just resume where I left off with 10. I'll just come in with low expectations for the earlier ones. Knowing that it gets better should give me strength to get through the marginal ones.

They released it early? Crazy. Sounds like a good one and I'm looking forward to watching tonight. Thanks for the spoiler tags on the early release - please keep them coming until it airs on the East Coast this evening. Also, make sure that TWS spoilers are tagged and labeled appropriately. Obviously, some of the broad strokes will be apparent after tonight's episode, but let's keep the plot points under tags for those that haven't seen the movie yet. Thanks again for all of your help.

Yep, I just watched it.

All I can say is LOL.

Yeah, I did too.

yeah, not seeing
a redemptive arc for Ward, unless he's had an eye thing the whole time. Dat's alot of death at the end.

I did like that the "Mouse Hole" Gizmo that Fitz came up with, has to be the same thing they used in the movie. Portable laser cutter

I think
they still want to leave the audience guessing, especially after that shit with Skye. But seriously, even going undercover, killing 3 agents for it is hardly the way to do it.

I really don't know where they are going with this, but I can at least say I wasn't expecting that shit to go down like that, so kudos to them I guess.

Seems like they finally took the episode down. The link to it is still there on the page, but the video is no longer available. What a pretty awesome fuck up on Hulu's part, lol. ABC has to be pretty furious, especially considering how important this episode is.

Pretty sure they run Hulu.

Then you would be wrong, it's a joint venture between Fox, ABC/Disney and NBCUniversial?Comcast...with NBCUniversial/Comcast being a silent partner as a stipulation of Comcast Purchase of NBCUniversial.

The companies have clashed repeatedly over Hulu for years; meanwhile, the third owner, NBCUniversal, has been a silent partner since being acquired by Comcast in early 2011. (At that time the government barred Comcast from being involved in Hulu’s business affairs, for fear that it would try to impose restrictions on Hulu to protect its core cable business.)

And it's down. Killed it right in the middle of the episode for me. Now I just get a message that the video is unavailable.

You didn't miss much.

lol, you missed everything

btw, did you ever go see the movie yet?

Spoilers for the leaked episode:

Would be great if they stuck with Ward as a villian but I'm betting his gun was a fake and he & Hand planned the whole thing to lead Ward to the rest of Cobra

Pretty disappointed with the Winter Soldier tie-in, no doubt making a meaningful story after Cap already did all the hard work was a tough ask, but they didn't even come close to pulling it off imo

2nd guard, the bald one, got a bullet hole in the head. That gun was real.

Haven't seen it yet. Next weekend at the earliest. :(

It was a good distraction while reviewing medical records. Oh well.

Though I know that you know the larger reveal of CA2, the show full on lets you know that same reveal, and a bit of plot on 2 characters from the movie. Still think it's better to see the movie first.

Now that I think about it:

When Coulson shot May, I thought it was a real gun with bullets. It sounded like a real gunshot. Turns out it was just the night-night gun. Could be the same with Hand.

But...
the blood dripping down her hand

Holy fucking shit, that ending twist made me so happy.
Ward has easily been the least interesting lead character on the show, and I couldn't have any less interest in his romance with Skye. I really thought the writers didn't have the guts to make one of the leads HYDRA, so I'm glad I was wrong. Hopefully Dalton will be a bit better at playing a villain.

The tag, though, had me a bit concerned...
We didn't get to hear Ward say "Hail HYDRA," and they can't seriously be implying that he's remorseful, can they? Isn't this what we already went through with Skye and Rising Tide, except much dumber here because Skye never killed anyone?

Warning to everyone, there be spoilers for tonight's episode in this thread!! Don't accidentally click something you shouldn't like I did!

That said....

Good, I fucking hate Ward.

5 more episodes left in the season so things can go in all sorts of directions. I did read though next weeks episode is the last direct tie in with Winter Solider. The Episodes after that are all aftermath stuff.
I went to click the episode and it said it expired. They must of took it down
