Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S3 |OT| Earthquakes Make Me Daisy - Tuesdays 9/8c

We're almost guaranteed a fourth season thanks to the economics of syndication.

I really hope so. I feel like part way through Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3 this show is really hitting its stride. Its one of my favorite Marvel things now. I just had heard the show gets bad rating and am worried its going to get canceled which would be a bummer because a lot of people likely don't realize how fun the show has gotten now

Its ratings aren't bad, they're just mediocre. It's going to get a season four since it will have made it to three full seasons by May and syndication money demands a fourth season. The fourth season's ratings will matter when it comes to getting a fifth season, though; a fifth season is not assured.

Also keep in mind that this show draws male viewers more than most shows, which are harder to get and thus more lucrative to advertisers. It also gets extra revenue from its deal with Netflix.

100 is the magic number for syndication, and with shows averaging 20 to 23 eps per season...

oh and i just saw the episode your avatar is from and it was too much.

Magic number is 88 now. Shows typically get 22 eps per season.

And the way I understand it, for some reason a 4th season almost always gives a 5th.

No. Third just guarantees fourth

At this point, ABC seems to be renewing pretty much every show they own. Now, that probably has its limits (I somehow doubt Galavant will get an S3), but still.

Only thing I don't really like now is the whole Ward / Hydra storyline. It was an epic twist early on and caught me totally by surprise but at this point it feels kind of forced and like its treading water.

Like does anyone really think he is going to stay Hydra / Evil? I'm pretty sure homeboy is gonna turn hero again at some point

Not after torturing Bobbi and killing May, even if it wasn't really her.

New episode today:
Season 3: episode 3 "A Wanted (Inhu)man"

Daisy, Mack and Coulson race to protect Lincoln as Rosalind’s team hunts down the Inhuman in their quest for powered people. Meanwhile, Hunter proves that there is no line that he will not cross to exact his revenge against Ward and Hydra.

No? SHIELD doesn't do that anymore, because it doesn't need to sell something else, it's interesting enough on its own now. I'm sick and tired of people think that the most interesting thing any plot can do in SHIELD is to tie in with a movie. It's really frustrating to even read.

Towards the end of Season 1, they teased the alien writing. At the start of Season 2, they introduced the Diviner. By the mid-season climax of Season 2 they tied both of those plot points together and led into the Inhumans plotline for the rest of the season.

Towards the end of Season 2, they teased the monolith. At the start of Season 3, they introduced the Alien Planet. By the mid-season climax of Season 3 I expect that they will tie it all together and lead into what they are doing for the second half of the season next year.

That is good planning and storytelling for an actual TV series. Not using major plot points as nothing more than throwaway teasers for unrelated movies.

But...#Itsallconnected?

That's one of the things I didn't like at all in the second part of season 2. The Ward - Agent 33 arc could have been interesting, but they acted like spoiled brats throwing a tantrum and some of the sympathy I had for those two disappeared. It's like nobody can exist in a grey area for too much time.

In fact, all the characters I was interested in in that regard were gone in the end of season 2 : They killed Reyna (So much potential gone like that), Ward is just an evil spoiled brat now, and Cal is out of the picture. At least his arc (and the actor) was fantastic.

Back to good VS evil... Meh...

IDK I still get the vibe he will have some sort of redemption arc

Agree with all of this. Evil Ward could be cool and at first I loved the twist, but now it just seems boring. Its just Ward doing bad shit because he's a baby throwing a temper tantrum

I think the opposite honestly, because ward was always dangerous but had this weird sense of morality because he thought Skye could make him feel "good" again. She ended that hope and now he is completely unhinged which makes him extremely dangerous.

But - if he manages to survive this season then he's seriously going to overstay his welcome. Mad dog Ward is only going to be interesting until he gets caught. This should be the end of his arc and he should go out with a bang.

Women find him really hott though and want to see him become good again. I still think they will do it or something like that to keep the actor on board. Even if he doesn't become good I think he'll be on Shield in some capacity until the show ends

Please tell me this doesn't turn into Ftiz/Simmons role reversal.

Now it's Fitz' turn to help Simmons get through some sort of trauma?

Can we get any more predictable?

I like AoS, but there is way too much repetition and role reversal going on with this show.

I keep waiting for Coulson to let Ward rejoin the team, AGAIN, only to be betrayed by him, AGAIN. Should be in the next couple episodes most likely. lol

The guy is in love with her. He risked dying and had brain damage for her. He literally jumped through a portal to another planet to find her. You were expecting he'd say "Very good then" and just walk away and ignore her? lol..the Ward thing I? I get you..

Yeah hopefully there is more to it than just that. They mean a lot to each other so it makes sense for Fitz to be there for her and she will obviously be kind of messed up from what happened to her. Here's hoping though its not a big dragged out thing and they move past that kind of quickly. Also hopefully we learn a lot more about what exactly went down on that planet

Are people still going on about a redemption arc for Ward? Please don't. I think I'd drop the show like a sack of potatoes if that happened.

Ward is bad and evil now. He will go down in a blaze of glory. Get used to it.

Simmons isn't brain-damaged, she's traumatized. PTSD. One shot of hand-holding doesn't mean a role-reversal. My guess is that she'll "have to go back" somehow.

Ward is now a Sith Lord and he's got his own apprentice.

I'd rather they stick to that, build up the kid and make the New HYDRA really bad-ass.

I swear, the Ward backstory and storyline was written by George Lucas.

While I agree that this show is fully capable of standing on it's own, if you really think they aren't going to tie this in to Civil War, when the main plotline of the show involves a huge reason the registration stuff will happen, then you're crazy. It absolutely will tie in with the movie.

He's never rejoined the team though?

He was brought along on a mission because they needed him but he wasn't part of the team.

Everyone has a reason to kill Ward, I wonder who will actually get the kill.

Daisy, Coulson, May, Fitz, Simmons - betrayed them all
Bobbi - kidnapped, tortured, almost killed
Hunter - did that to Bobbi
Mack - nothing personal I guess, but he probably hates Hydra in general
Koenig - killed his brother

He'll probably end up being a casualty of some cataclysmic event, however.

lol..terrible. Which episode do they consider themselves siblings? I can't recall. I'm guessing it's happened since people have mentioned it..

I could be wrong, but sometime in Season 1, Simmons may have said something to the effect of "you're like a brother to me".

Otherwise, it was implied early on that their relationship is very sibling-like since they've always been partnered up. They were referred to as FitzSimmons singularly, for starters.

They're like brother and sister. The sooner they realise it, the better.

Still not as bad as The Flash, where Barry is in love with the girl that is, technically... legally... his sister.
They only grew up together, in the same house, raised by the same man. Nope, not weird at all..................

Ah, so she felt that way before..but he was into her. Her attitude changed by around the end of season 2. He just pulled the impossible to save the girl he loves. Now they can be the "Brangelina" of the show..

When I was binge watching the first season this is what made me think they were related but confused as to why they had different accents.

Ward and Daisy are probably going to end up being captured together by someone and then they'll have to work together in order to escape, then Son of Coul is like "why isn't this bro dead?" and Daisy will say some shit like "we can't kill him I love him" as Ward runs off into the sunset.

I'm also not a big fan of the Fitz-Simmons pairing. Way too cliché. They can still have a deep, meaningful relationship without mashing their genitals together.

And Ward, yeah, I don't see him going away. He's beyond redemption at this point, but I think there'll always be a need for a wildcard in the mix, and he does a damn good job of it. It's on the table, but I don't think it's the road they're going down.

I love the Fitz-Simmons stuff. It's been earned. They haven't been just thrown together, they've orbited one another for 2+ seasons now and maybe we'll get some payoff.
