Aldnoah Zero Season 2 |OT| Inaho or Out, It's All The Slaine

Episode 8

That was pretty entertaining. It was surprisingly over the top and fun considering how there wasn't even a real mecha battle. Felt like 24 minutes of something you would find in a Metal Gear Solid game - exposition, flashbacks, characters talking about how beautiful things can be, long ass torture sequence, and then a big plot turn at the end. I'll definitely like more of this in future. Slaine is definitely being developed as a survivor type character. Being able to take that much punishment is good news, because I don't really want to see him in a mech - I want to see him going melee and guns on the Martian traitors. Much more satisfying.

I wonder if they're setting up Saazbum as the main villain for this season. It would be nice to see them take him out by ep13 or something. As if it wasn't obvious enough that Aniplex really wants this to be their Gundam clone, his mech looks so much like the Banshee in Unicorn. Lol.

I actually hope that does happen. I want to see Solid Slaine infiltrate castles, take down guards and dragging them into dark corners, and just become a cold heartless assassin.

I am disappointed that we have not yet had an opportunity to see the Deucalion kick some ass. It's been like 2 episodes since they found it guys, throw us a frickin' bone here!

It had it's Aldnoah drive removed to power the Shark with a Jetpack. Maybe it'll be Slaine's mecha later. Or just a red herring.

If Inaho were so capable, he would have beaten the mech last week himself without needing help!

#TeamSlaine

If Slaine was so great, he wouldn't have got shot down down and beat every episode.. :p

My hatred for Slaine is completely irrational. Once he appeared on screen I hated him and immediately rooted for InahoxSeylum. The emotionless robot is truth.

So I've watched this until episode 5; is this going to pick up in terms of mech design and such? Because I hate mech the heroes use

Other than that, I enjoy some of the action and the music.

Actually, I think they both have that name. The Martians used it when they reported that it had its drive removed to Cruhteo.

Hmmmmm. Actually, looking at the ship's design, and the flashback of the full mech they faced at Tanegashima back during Heaven's Fall, I don't think they just removed the drive. It looks like they completely striped the mech down and built the battleship with them - drive included. So... there probably isn't a mech left anymore. Many of the mechs have transformation modes, so if this had a ship-like battleship mode, they could have based it off that maybe?

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!

wat? those are some of the better looking ones in the series. The others make you wonder how the fuck do they even stand.

Though the wings on the legs of the Earth force units are a bit stupid.

what do you mean "wat", the green and orange earthlings mechs are super ugly. I don't care if they're more "realistic", who cares about that for mechs, Aldnoah magic? That's how they stand.
also most of the time they use CG for them, which makes them even more uglier.

The fat one the enemy used was shitty, yeah, but the 'good' mechs don't look that much better as well. Sure, they are more grounded, but compared to what's out there they look plain boring to me.

So, does the show get better plot-wise? I mean I think the first 5 episodes were solid aside from robo designs, plot holes and CG overdose. There seem to be some interesting elements here and there, and yeah the music totally rocks.

Episode 8

This was heavy-handed, but fun. It's about time we had an episode without a mech fight, giving the Earth plot a chance to decompress for a bit. Calm and Rayet both seem moronic, but the star of the show here was Slaine and the show's cuts from moments of happiness to torture and suffering. I chuckled aloud when it went directly from them watching birds on the ship back to the dungeon.

The Martians found a new way to surprise me with their stupidity, which was shocking.
They spent years fighting a civil war amongst themselves in orbit with their Landing Castles, but they have no way to defend against an attack by a single Aldnoah-equipped mech?
Truly embarrassing.

We're clearly not getting high art, but as long as there are explosions and suffering, I'll be happy.

Episode 8

Damn, that was pretty solid. The juxtaposition between Slaine's interrogration and Asseylum's scenes was pretty neat. That man can and will take a beating and continues to do so like a thoroughbred champion.

Now, I wonder what Saazbaum will do with the kid.

So I am only halfway done through the episode but is it explained how
Slaine was captured by Cruhteoh? Did Inaho just destroy the ship and leave it in the ocean?

Just started watching this. Please tell me the main character actually gets...you know, some character. The way he just casually said "Oh, a missile"...I mean, they do realize no one likes these super stoic cliched main characters, right?

We're 8 episodes in and Inaho still has the personality of a brick.

Join #TeamSlaine to support the superior character.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I'm actually really liking my shifting attitude between Slaine and Inaho. At first I liked Inaho and hated Slaine. Then in 7 I disliked Inaho and liked Slaine. Now I actually like both of them.

I did not expect the events of 7 and 8 to unfold like they did.

I'm really loving the show.

That's kind of the point of him? He's supposed to be a cold, logical person who exploits weakness to meet his personal goals.

Same.

I don't get why some folks won't accept that Inaho is written as an emotionless character and a stark contrast to Slaine

Anything else than the fucking Shinji clones is good for me. I have no problem with Inaho, he gets the job done, it's refreshing.

So this show continues to be really bad yet entertaining. this weeks ep poor slanne gets crapped on yet again as space tokiomi tortures him. i was kind of hoping the twist was space tokiomi was in on martian-hime's assassination plot, but alas this show went with the expected martian douche bag kills off space tokiomi and takes slane in his sweet transforming aldonah plot device i am also interested in what the ship that inaho's group found chilling under tanegashima can do tho, if all the systems were good to go, instead of fucking around with aldonah why couldn't the terrans just strap some good ol fashion human made nuclear reactors to power the ship(and possibly put them on better footing with the vers empire) instead of leaving it conveniently there for 15 years, or is aldnoah really that damn good?

Fuck Inaho for leaving Slaine behind to get captured. Dick move.

And does anyone else not like the redhead? I'm half expecting Inaho to run over her traitorous terrorist ass.

He can be cold, logical and exploitative all he wants, but those traits generally make a character interesting. Inaho somehow, to me anyway, is annoying more than anything else.

Inaho is a terrible, boring character

All the cool kids are on #TeamSlaine.

Rayet? Yeah, I've been hoping for her death since she was introduced. She gets no sympathy from me whatsoever.

I hate her. She needs to kill some martians and then hopefully get killed herself.

Lol with all the Inaho hate, he's so much like Heero Yui from Gundam Wing which make's the character so awesome.

Slain though has a more intriguing back story to him though.

Same here. Best mecha lead in a long long time

Oh god no Inaho is a terrible gary stu lead with virtually no personality or flaws, the magic solution to all combat situation, and has every girl starting to show interest in him.

Virtually every mech series I've seen in the past 2 years has had a better lead. The last truly great one was the lead of Gargantia

Meh. I like lead who's competent (but not omnipotent) and can reign in his emotions instead of turning into wet blanket.

I'm currently catching up with Valvrave and every episode I want to strangle that damn lead. Inaho-like characters are usually secondary ones that made me think "damn, I wish he would be the lead".

We may disagree about Sugu in SAO but I can wholeheartedly agree with you here.
pls don't say that Chamber was the lead of Gargantia...

I wish there was a Nara Shikamaru type MC out there. Smart, rational, but not perfect or stoic.

Expecting that too. Crutheo will become another Orange-kun.

Would definitely make things more interesting, but given Inaho's absurd efficiency in dealing with foes that have supposedly vastly more powerful technology, he might not even be necessary.

I'm only half joking.

I kind of wish Inaho or Slaine could also utilize Aldnoah, seems strange neither can at this point in time.

Weakest episode of the anime thus far. With only Slaine convo being the more interesting and memorable aspect. Marito could have potentially but hes just a normal so I dont think his plot is really all that important at the end of the day.
