Made on my dumbphone, hope it works

Amazing.

Straight the point.

I wonder how they are going to make the aliens scary again. Partly due to familiarity and over exposure, they haven't been actually frightening in any film post-Aliens.

I'd like to think they're go the restraint route, but the combination of Prometheus and that poster makes me think, nope.
Again the fault of James Cameron. He is in his own way responsible for what happened to the alien franchise after his take on it.

Is this the direct sequel to Prometheus or a new project taking things back to the original series?

Both. It's set after Prometheus (David and Shaw are returning), but it's more in line with Alien/Aliens. Plus, we're seeing a new type of Xenomorph in this movie.

Again the fault of James Cameron. He is in his own way responsible for what happened to the alien franchise after his take on it.

I don't think that I can blame James Cameron for anything in Aliens. A sequel for the original was going to be a tough act to follow, no matter what. If it was made by a different director and just repeated the same basic formula of the original, it would have probably been received as an inferior movie by critics and could have even killed the chances for a part three (unless it went to home video). James Cameron's idea of flipping around the formula was a good one. It caught a lot of critics of guard and did great box office.

Alien 3 was a victim of being a studio controlled sequel that jumped the gun a bit too early in production and caused headaches for the film makers. I know people like this one (or the assemblers cut) , but David Fincher still doesn't want to acknowledge it's existence. Me, I just can;t enjoy it. But I feel like 3 still had potential to be a much better movie than any released cut.

I liked Prometheus for what it was, so count me IN.

The scene of the "surgery" is still one of my favorite scenes in cinema, fantastic photography ramping up the tension. I was at the edge of my seat.

I thought of this when I first saw the poster but don't have any image editing skill. Thanks.

If the movie didn't look as pretty as it did and didn't have Fassbender it would be god awful. Blows my mind that people love it. I'm not super critical over scripts but by god was it horrendous.

only just watched the alien movies recently after playing Alien: Isolation. can't wait for this as the only alien movies i enjoyed were the first and prometheus. this one is by ridley scott too so i'm optimistic it won't be terrible. the main series of movies only get worse as they go on. first is brilliant. second was ok but a bit too action focused for me. third was so boring i fell asleep. in the fourth they totally destroyed ellen ripley as a character. probably won't even bother seeing alien 5 if they ever do it unless it's straight up horror like the first movie.

i agree. the last thing i wanted to do in alien isolation was run. hell i was scared to walk. i would just kinda crouch and creep my way about. running = death.

To all the people complaining about the "run" tagline, if you see the front of the face of the alien like depicted in the poster, run is probably the only choice, although it's probably too late.
Maybe something like "You are already dead" would be more accurate, lol.

And having a tagline will help spreading the poster in social media, open a door to memes, hell, almost half of the posts in this thread are about the tagline, so I guess the marketing team did a good job.

If it said Shhhh or Don't breathe, or Prey instead, I'd be more hyped. But run? I dunno, it brings the scariness of the alien down a notch or 2.

I'm in the bizarro dimension, that poster looks crap and like 5 minutes in Photoshop. And run? Everyone knows you can't outrun them. Lazy ass crap all round.

Great poster.

Just like Prometheus this will have great marketing and great trailers and then the eventual film will be total garbage..., just like Prometheus.

It is the way of things.

Don't let me down. Please be decent.

Don't do this to yourself.

It's going to be terrible.

Just accept it and make peace with the fact that you're going to see it anyway.

It's a slick poster but I'm not getting fooled again after Prometheus. The lingering stench of that movie combined with the story leaks...I'm mentally preparing to seal this movie away in the darkest recess of my mind, right next to Alien3 and Resurrection.

It's testament to the quality of the first two films that I would still pay money to watch a new Alien film even if I know it's going to be shit.

Goddamn, all this hate after only seeing the poster.

The worst movie of this year got more of a chance after 3 trailers (looking at you Ghostbusters)

I hope they tie in Alien isolation.

I sincerely doubt it (ironically, despite it being the best thing in the franchise in almost 30 years). That game must take place probably, what, 20 years after the first film? Apparently Prometheus is set in 2093 and Alien takes place in 2122, so if we say Alien Isolation is probably circa 2140, and Alien Covenant is supposedly 10 years after Prometheus, so it seems a bit too early in the timeline to reference the Ripley family or the Sevastopol station.

Yep, that's an Alien.

Both. It's set after Prometheus (David and Shaw are returning), but it's more in line with Alien/Aliens. Plus,
we're seeing a new type of Xenomorph in this movie.

That's worrying.
New Xenomorphs equal to a shit monster inferior to the real deal, like Resurrection and Prometheus.

Only Cameron got it right with the Queen.

I'd say a follow-up poster needs to happen with just "Hide" as the caption. Not sure what could be the final poster in a trilogy. "Die" is a little on the nose.
