There's a difference between disappointment and extreme vitrol. And considering Prometheus sits at a 70% on RT I'd assume the general consensus is that it's a decent movie whereas GAF is the only place I've ever seen where people consistently try to convince you of otherwise.

Is this not the same argument many users here consistently use to argue a film is bad? Funny how that works huh?

You might think it's bad, but the general consensus and critical consensus isn't that it's bad and again, it's only here that I've seen the film get such aggressive responses any time anyone brings up that they even like the film.

I know it's hard not to be hyperbolic but the scale isn't 'this thing is either amazing or its terrible'. It's a decent movie and there's nothing wrong with that, it could've been better, there are examples on this series that are far worse.

But again, it's only here that I've seen people get so aggressive and childish over other people feeling that this film in particular is good or that they enjoyed it and you're not exactly making a case against this.

A script is like the blueprint of a house. It's the very foundation that everything else is built upon. If the blueprints are wrong or even unsound the house will be awful at best or unsafe at worst. Either way it will be a terrible house. But this house can still have some nice qualities (the rooms are beautifully decorated, the pool in the garden is great etc) but ultimately what do these superficial qualities mean if the house will likely be unsuitable for human habitation?

Prometheus is a house that isn't fit for animals to sleep but it has a nice marble floor in the kitchen and a great cinema set up in the basement. But if you put a single foot of pressure on any floor the entire thing will collapse and kill you.

I understand what you're saying. But the script isn't that bad which is why I find these complaints silly.
I mean, I can enjoy Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad, but generally all of the shit they get is warranted. I don't feel that's the case here and i feel like people on this forum hate this movie more than either of those.

I also don't even really dislike the film and I think he did an incredible job bringing the world to life and casting the actors, the art direction is astounding. I just don't like his choice of events to portray and those to leave out along with some other stuff.

I wonder how they are going to make the aliens scary again. Partly due to familiarity and over exposure, they haven't been actually frightening in any film post-Aliens.

I'd like to think they're go the restraint route, but the combination of Prometheus and that poster makes me think, nope.

The Alien stopped being scary after the original. Aliens fucked the whole thing up by making them a glorified action sci fi monster. Everyone loves that movie too and while I do enjoy the film, I don't give it anywhere near the level of props everyone else does.

That's not always the best option. I did that during my first playthrough with no problems and then during my second playthrough the fucker found me, it's like the AI adapts and knows where you've been hiding.

And I agree, Isolation is a damn masterpiece. I wonder if Ridley has seen it.

Mostly applies to the states. Usually when a major studio has a new release they'll have a trailer or two from their upcoming slate, in this case Fox with Assassin's Creed and the trailer being Alien. Obviously trailers always crop up online first except for some cases when a trailer drops after the theater debut.

Overseas have their own marketing thing going on and sometimes cut their own trailers. Either way we should see the trailer online within 2 weeks.

The movie is pretty bad, which is a shame, as it has some good action scenes and the Predator is a badass but the human characters are terrible.
