Why the fuck are those spoilers allowed or being posted here? Stop it, even if you're tagging them! Also, WHY are people reading them to begin with?

I can't believe those spoilers are true. Who, in such an important industry, would think such scripts make any sense or are even remotely good? People are in for such a big disappointment...

It seriously pisses me off. Happens every damn time. Someone posts some bullshit and people get deflated and take it from there. Then they bitch about it endlessly to others.

..what are you talking about? People can post whatever they want, and as long as spoilers are tagged, what's the problem?

have you been paying attention to the Alien franchise for the past 30 years or nah

People thought Prometheus was going to be fantastic and many ended up disliking it. The trailer for this is receiving a lot of negativity(at least here on GAF). That must be mean this film will blow the doors off and those bitching will enjoy it.(maybe I'll hate it because I really enjoyed Prometheus)

Is Macbeth worth watching?
If you're into really good acting by Fassbender and Cotillard, atmosphere and mood, character study over plot, hell yeah.

Though everyone has a right to spoil themselves of course, I don't know why anyone would want to in advance. The experience might suck, but it may be much better to those who enjoy it if they don't read spoilers.

when the spoilers are that bad it's best to prepare yourself for the shit than actually expecting something decent and leaving disappointed.

A kick in the nuts hurts less, if you brace for it.

I dunno...

On one hand, Prometheus was a deeply flawed movie, but I liked the themes enough to want to see what they do with it.

On the other hand, it looks like it'll be a better Alien movie than Resurrection and Alien 3. Honestly don't think it was that bad, but it didn't do anything for me.

Regardless, I'll end up watching this for McBride. I would have rather seen Blomkamp's vision.

I'm still going to see this, but man. If this ends up being bad, I think realistically that's it for the hopes of any good Ridley Scott alien films left.

You know those modern day trailers that are like 3 minutes long and show the entire plot of the movie? This trailer managed to be just as long, while showing absolutely nothing.

Looks like prometheus.

I understand that it's a franchise and you need to follow a style. But this looked like another version of the same movie-

Gotta love the shot with the alien tail hovering just below the lady's crotch, as if the sexual assault undertones that already existed with the Xenomorphs weren't subtle enough for Ridley Scott.

What Güsep is saying is that the trailer implies this is going for the cheap thrills. It's probed reactions because it always works, but holding the series in higher regard you expect one of the greatest living directors doing one of the most beloved franchises to rise above the bottom minimum of creative input.

What does this film offer that Prometheus didn't? How does this expand the mythos and lore of this universe? What will be learned and change how we look at all the other films? Because it looks like a tit-for-that remake.

I still think people read into this stuff way too much. A trailer can be cut a certain way but it doesn't necessarily mean the whole movie will be like that. There is clearly way more going on but the trailer is just showing a few scenes out of context.

To me this trailer is saying "Alright you complained about Prometheus for not being an Alien movie, so here you go, the Alien is back."

If any of the spoilers are true, we haven't seen anything yet, so people should just wait for the final movie to judge. Very likely one of the other trailers we get will be better than this teaser too.

"We're not sure today's audience understands that an alien body shoving a phallic tube down someone's throat and leaving them pregnant and dead inside could have sexual assault undertones - we need to be more explicit"

I dunno, the trailer looked fine to me. Not sure why everyone is on its ass. I'm not that confident about the final product though. The Martian was great and one of my favorites of last year, which was a nice surprising return to form for Ridley imo; but I just don't think he has good instincts about the Alien franchise. Not just because of Prometheus, but even things here, like making Waterston's character look exactly like Ripley, right down to the tank top.
