Death during shower sex, what is it Friday the 13th?
They got the look right (of course, it's Ridley) but it just seems pretty unoriginal so far...either a retread of the original scenes or some Hollywood-y explosion/slasher stuff. Not even as intriguing as the Prometheus trailer.
Low hype I guess. Tho I admit by now I just want a good Alien film, retread or not.

It looks like a generic Hollywood slasher pic. What the fuck is this movie? The trailer does such a poor job of establishing anything about it. I mean it opens with people running around screaming in shakey cam? How about the trailer actually tell a story?

The rest is fine I guess.

You even got the identical looking crashed alien ship. That's not on the same planet though right?
Hard to tell. Shaw and David fucked off to elsewhere at the end of Prometheus, so this could be where they ended up. However, it could be LV223 if the movie goes the route of the comic books, where the black goo accelerates EVERYTHING on that moon, turning it into a fucked up jungle with fucked up monsters.

Given that David is in this movie, my best is on the former, though I'm down for the latter.

Neat I think...? So is Sexbender an android in this too?

So the black goo is the GENESIS system from Star Trek? Will they find child Noomi Rapace on the planet?

I think.....GAF will just have to see the movie to form their opinions, as trailers are rarely the best way to judge a movie.

At worst, it will be meh. But I always have high expectation for an Alien film. I'm not expecting OG levels of greatness, but it seems to retread where Prometheus may have gone awry, while introducing elements of the classic into its DNA, which I've heard may be a story point as well.

Isn't that par for the course with first trailers?

The awful writers were a huge part of why Prometheus was hot garbage.

Scott's still got it.
I used to think this, but I have since reversed it. Lindeloff just did what Ridley asked, Ridley is the one who wanted all the garbage.

I mean, we all want this to be the tits. I really do, but who actually thinks it will be good? I mean the script is just going to be absolute shit, right?

Looks awesome.

Fun story, back when the first one came out, my parents were dating. My dad took her to go see the movie. Mom has a huge bowl of popcorn and she typically eats it during the movie, my dad saw a left over popcorn bucket in the row in front of him and told her to eat her popcorn now since whoever was here last didnt finish theirs cause of the movie. She did.

We are at the scene where the alien comes out of the guys stomach. My mother almost threw up and stood up and yelled at my dad in the theater about him not telling her it was a gross movie. She left the theater and waited for the movie to finish.

Now me and my sister need to come up with a plan to trick her to see this one since its right around her birthday.

Basically this, esp now a days where some trailers are so well done/cut that they take dump all over the final product.

Meh, she's been awful in every movie I've ever seen her in and while she's cute she's not "cast over a decent actor" cute.

Yes but Scott still had pretty big control over the script at the end of the day. The writing was the worst part of that movie yes but the fault of the writing isn't solely the writers fault.

I dont know why some of you are disappointed. ALIEN movies are space slasher with good bit of world building. The horror part was missing from Prometheus and this one has it.

I'll put good Ridley Scott up there against any director, and he still hits more than he misses, but I wasn't super feeling that trailer. I expected to come in here and be opposite of some Prometheus-tinged negativity, but... eh. It's fine. Visuals seem on point, but nothing there really pulled me in.

So, anyone here really enjoyed Prometheus despite its flaws? Hopefully this one is more focused with a few lessons learned for Ridley.

As a hardcore fan of Alien, I'm very excited for this. Trailers need to get a little less spoilery though. For those who care about the plot much, don't bother watching the trailer.
Dunno. Didn't really grasp much from that. Just a bunch of scenes. Shrug.

That seemed awfully spoilery. Saw at least 3 character deaths in a 2 minute trailer.

Seems returning to horror roots though. That's definitely a good thing. It's not shying away from graphic violence Prometheus did either, which felt like it wasted its R-rating on a movie targeted at slightly older teens.

Visuals look great too, as they always do in a Scott film. Now, let's see about that script...

bruh I got no faith in this movie I will take pixie cut Waterston and dumb horror shit.

Also "awful" is a stretch. I wouldn't call her leading actress material, but still...

Looks like Prometheus 2.

Incidentally, it also looks like shit. Pretty lackluster considering the talent behind the camera.

I love Prometheus. Honestly, the only two parts of the movie I don't like are
the disc-rolling ship at the end and the way Vickers says "Father" when Weyland shows up.

All of the other things people nitpick about that flick don't bother me at all. Movie was awesome. One of my favorites.

He does though? The dude can direct the heck out of a film.
He can also make incredibly shitty films. The same guy who directed Alien and Blade Runner directed Robin Hood and Exodus: Gods and Kings.

To your first paragraph: of course, but this is a thread about the trailer. The only thing we have to discuss about the movie is the trailer and the people involved plus their past work.

For the second paragraph, why on god's green earth would you ever have high expectations for an Alien film? There's only 2 really good ones and that was over 2 decades ago.
