After years of missteps, the Battlefield series is back with a frankly outrageous commercial debut, with over 6.5 million units sold through in its first few days across PC and console, as per our estimates.

That translates to more than $350M in gross revenue, putting Battlefield 6 in the conversation with the year's – no, the generation's – biggest launches.
Our segment distribution estimates show just how PC-led Battlefield's resurgence is:

  • Steam accounts for 56.7% of the copies sold through to consumers (3.5M+ copies), as well as over $220M in revenues.
  • PS5 accounts for 23.7% (1.5M+ copies).
  • Xbox Series consoles take 19.6% (1.2M+ copies).

On console, Xbox's high share of players relative to its lower installed base isn't too surprising. After all, Battlefield has a longstanding history on Xbox – and the platform's early-adopting players are often drawn to new shooters.

The US is the top Steam market for BF6, with a third of players, but China is at 15%, busting the myth that Chinese players only buy when games go on sale.

China-based players are a core part of AAA game audiences these days. This is also above average for the genre and franchise in the first few days.

Meanwhile, key Western territories like Germany and the UK hold familiar 3-6% Steam shares, but Japan's 3% is a meaningful signal of PC's growth in Japan.

In general, Battlefield's appeal on Steam is broadening beyond the typical Western military power fantasies. On PlayStation, the distribution is more Western, though. The US again leads (with a 38% player share), followed by 6-9% for the UK, France, and Germany (6.7%).

However, Saudi Arabia accounts for over 3% of BF6 players on PlayStation. The Middle East is a very relevant battleground (and mostly underreported), given EA's ongoing courtship of Middle Eastern capital ahead of its $55B leveraged buyout, which we dive into here.

Mod edit: EA just made a press release about BF6 sales so this thread no longer serves any purpose. The announcement can be found here:

Just a reminder that EA Play is part of Game Pass.
Gamepass has EA Play base tier which gets the games after 9-12 months, 9 months for the sports titles, 12 months for the AAA titles.

Battlefield 6 is only included on EA Play Pro which is via EA Desktop app only.

If that's steams share it makes you wonder how many sold on the EA app lol.

I reckon many people would have skipped it on pc if it didn't have a steam release.

What makes Alinea Analytics any different from Vgchartz.com?

Every Battlefield from 3, 1, Hardline and V were only on Origin.
PC players would have still bought it on the EA App.........as shitty as the EA App is, you dont want to know how bad Origin was.
Dont forget Battlelog too........uggghhhh.

Battlefield fans can be masochistic......it would have done alright.
Its just easier/better to buy on Steam if thats an option, if it wasnt EA App it is.

It doing best on pc is believable. But that split between ps and Xbox.

Those percentages add up to 100% exactly. So if EA Play has 0.0% market share, where did all those complaints from EA Play Pro subscribers come from?

EA Play Pro's marketshare can't have been 0%, because many more people than normal will have subscribed to EA Play Pro just to be able to play Battlefield, since a $17 a month subscription is much cheaper than buying the game on Steam.

Those stats look ridiculous because PS5 and Xbox split is too close.

I'm sure BF6 will have impressive sales number, maybe the biggest sales number this year, but I dont trust Alinea analytics.
