Amazon.com - PS5: 153K, Switch: 56K, Xbox: 32K, PSVR2 23K

Xbox estimates for November: just 32,000 units sold on Amazon. Even with Black Ops 6 on Game Pass, the Series X|S lags behind PS5 (153K) and Switch (56K).

What's holding Xbox back? Lack of exclusives, weaker hardware perception, or marketing issues? Let's discuss!

PSVR2 selling almost as much as Xbox

Amazon USA (November)

Hardware:

#12 - PS5 slim
#27 - PS5 Digital slim
#31 - PS5 - Fortnite bundle (digital)
#34 - Playstation Portal
#48 - PS VR2
#57 - PS5 Pro
#87 - PS5 - Fortnite bundle (disc edition)
#94 - PS5 Digital (NBA 2k25 edition)

No Switch or Xbox consoles in sight inside the top 100...while PS5 had 6 skus...plus Portal and VR2.

Also...this was funny:
#17 - Gamepass Ultimate (1 month) for 15 bucks

this selling less units than one of the PS5s skus is hilarious to me, specially in november and just one month after COD debuted. People really don't want to stay on gamepass for long. No matter how much they want this to be the netflix of gaming...it will never get there.

Seems like PS5 will be carrying this black friday and christmas now in december.

It's not random numbers these are estimated using the Amazon 'Sold In The Last 30 days' numbers
I didn't say random. I respect Welfares estimates and know they're not pulled out of a hat but they're still estimates from a retailer nonetheless.

I mean...yeah...that's literally how he starts his tweet: "I estimate Amazon sold". He never mentioned this as an official thing.

I don't think he got the memo of what is, and what is not, an Xbox.

edit - one f'n sentence and I messed it up. 😜

Switch was on sale at other stores while not discounted at Amazon so that muddied the water more than usual. But yeah PlayStation dominated November

Those PSVR numbers seem...decent?
Good.....it fucking deserves it, it's a great device (even as a PC headset) and has some amazing games that people are sleeping on because they're VR games.

GT7 VR is one of the best games of this generation and most people have no idea. RE4 VR too.

Xbox has lost so much mind share.

That said, my casual gamer friends that were Xbox 360 gamers back in the day, still have Xbox systems so some of that casual "broski" audience that doesn't visit forums like this or even go to something like ign.com has already purchased one of those Xbox series units years back and is not contributing to sales today

One of those friends, who has game pass, is oblivious to this Microsoft drama.

Still a long way to go behind Quest 3

Quest damn near took out PS5 in November & just might do it in December

I love the quest 3 for AR. Absolutely fantastic. I still prefer the PSVR2 for VR. Mostly because it blocks light better but also the darker screen. Both are great products and I would be happy with either if I only had one of them.

From the tepid promotions, it was like Xbox didn't even bother showing up this Black Friday. I expect at some point there will be a firesale on the Xboxes retailers are stuck with.

Xbox is very dead at this point. There's nothing that can pull it out of the mess it's currently in.

MS should cut the life support and move on to whatever new plans they have that involve a post-console future.

Which is why I think they'll stay in hardware at least one more gen. Millions of people like that.

Indicates to me MS has given up completely on subsidizing console wars and no longer prioritizes console sales volume

Realistically, MS primarily wants to get rid of Gamepass as quickly as possible and the best way to do it is simply stop selling dedicated hardware (read: consoles). The sooner they get back to selling games instead of giving them away for free, the better for Xbox things will be. There's no way MS plans to give away games for free another 10+ years

Why would they do that when Quest 3 is better supported on PC?
Quest 3 works way better as standalone MR-platform than a PCVR headsets. I use both and I vastly prefer PSVR2 as a PC accessory. I'd say both helmets got their kinks with Windows, but PSVR2 offers a clean video signal output and not fighting for CPU resources or relying on poor video transcoding. I don't care about wireless too, AirLink was never reliable for me and most of my PCVR games are static cockpit simulators.

What happened to all the other VR headsets?

Is PSVR2 the better option?
