is there a simple way to automatically send complete RSS feeds with complete articles to the Kindle via wifi instead of using cable and Calibre

You can set up Calibre so it shoots the file to you using your Kindle email address. You can automate a surprising amount of the process.

thanks will try that

Had set up Calibre so it downloaded RSS and synced via cable earlier but stopped doing that after a while due to it being so clumsy and me having to go sit by the computer first thing in the morning.

Will try to see if I can set the computer to start up at 5 am and then have calibre download feeds at 5.30 and then send them to my kindle for "paper" reading at breakfast

shows as 10.99 for me....

hate the international store...

lot of daily deals are just US store or sometimes not even available to buy at regular price

makes me seriously considering grey importing a US kindle next time

Amazon actually detects you're not connecting from the US, so it says that you have to prove you're an American citizen with a Valid ID, otherwise, they'll block the country you're connecting from. It really sucks, I'm stuck at the Intl. Store.

I use the US Kindle store by setting my account postal address to be a US one. Not sure why it works differently for you.

I did the same. Maybe my CC gave me away, or perhaps it was the IP, I don't know, but after ~5 downloads Amazon sent me this email

Hello from Amazon.

We are writing because the home country registered to your Kindle account may not match your country of residence. Due to publishing rights, the home country registered to your account must match your country of residence.

To continue purchasing titles available for the United States, please send a copy of your valid government-issued identity card, passport, or a utility bill received within the previous 90 days to our secure fax line:

Within the US: 206-266-1838
Outside the US: (00)1-206-266-1838

For your security, you may obscure the passport, ID, or account number. However, we ask that you do not obscure any portion of your name, your address, or any expiration or statement dates.

Your fax will be converted to a secure electronic image that will never be printed. Once we have completed the verification process, we will delete the image.

If you have moved to a different country, you can update your home country in the Manage Your Kindle section of your Amazon account (www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle):

1. Login to amazon.com/manageyourkindle.
2. Click "Country Settings."
3. Click "Change."
4. Choose an existing home address from your account or enter a new one.
5. Click “Update.”

We may restrict your home country setting if you continue to purchase from the catalog of titles for the United States without completing the verification process.

We appreciate your cooperation.

I don't remember saying where I live, so that's what weirds me out.

Also, I have a few e-books on the computer that I sync with calibre. How can I get those to sync with the kindle app so I can read at work on break with my iPhone, and pick up later with my kindle paper white?

How many books will a paperwhite hold?

Unless you plan to spend years away from Wi-fi it's it's really not a useful question to ask since Amazon will store your purchases. The Kindle itself will hold hundreds even without. The only time space is even an issue is with documents.

Do they add new books to the prime checkout library or just rotate books in and out? My wife just bought two physical books while she was traveling for work (she left her Kindle at home), so she's not going to be reading it for a little while. Turns out, one of the books I want to read is on the prime library right now that WASN'T a few weeks back. Is this normal?

Thanks for the link. So I could send the e-books I have on my comp to my amazon address and it would make them available on my iPhone and iPad as well? I don't have to do anything else?

I like to have options. I have a 160 gig iPod filled to the brim. Right now I have 60 books on my kindle. It'll probably triple before the year is out. I use calibur and keep them in mobi format. Should I be using something else?

I believe it stores the files you send in Amazon Cloud, so you could access it from anywhere, including Kindle apps. At least that's what I believe.

What is a nice case for the paperwhite that is decently priced? I don't want to pay $40 bucks, which is a third of the price of the actual kindle for the official case.

The blacks are inky black on mine when the light is on full. The light is how the Paperwhite improves on contrast from previous gen models.

After close inspection I guess blacks aren't inky black when the light is on full(only really noticeable with images and the GUI, text looks as black as black can be).
the only situation I'd use the light on full is if i were reading on the beach or something. 1-2 bars for life
I use 2 bars which is perfect for a dark room.

Are there any pictures of various bleed issues that the Paperwhite's are known to have? I was reading my wife's Kindle last night and noticed a few small darker grey "peaks" at the bottom of the screen.

it's really not a big deal. I never notice it in normal reading

I bought my wife the case with her Kindle. She told me it was too expensive, but I had some Best Buy credit and I told her it was part of her Christmas gift. Seriously, SO worth the money. That thing is brilliant.

E: And thanks for the info on the bleeding. I didn't realize that it was (basically) inconsequential.

Yeah, this is the problem I noticed. It's not cumulative or anything, right? Like, it's not going to hinder the reading experience in a few months?

If you weren't bothered by, say, having a book light on at night attached to a book or another ereader, it's probably not something that will make a difference.

I just consider it the absolute best implementation of a book light I've come across yet.

Yeah I don't know how anyone bothered by the slightly uneven lightning ever managed to read on an old Kindle under a normal light source, 'cause that's way more uneven than the Paperwhite.

That's the MoKo one, right? I wanna get one, but I still don't know if I sould go with the MoKo or the Finite

its off brand, bought it at Dealextreme, but its clearly copying the MoKo one.

here's the link: http://dx.com/p/stylish-pu-leather-protective-carrying-case-for-kindle-4-black-109664

thing is, Amazon wont ship any case to my country so this was my only choice. But at $7.6 with free shipping I think its superb. Absolutely gets the job done. Its pretty much the MoKo without the branding.

Got my Paperwhite today and it's awesome, no complaints whatsoever. It's a 603 batch, maybe they fixed whatever was worng with early batches.

You mean 503? My second one was a 503 and I had some discoloration on it. It was probably worse than the first one I had, but I don't know if that one was a 501 or 502. My third one is fine though, some slight discoloration but only visible in certain lighting conditions, no bright pinhole specks on the screen, and the shadows at the bottom are less of a distraction than the previous two

God damnit, didn't realize Amazon used UPS for delivery... they're coming to my apartment today and obviously I'm not home since I'm at work like everybody else, and on top of that they don't have the door code. I called UPS earlier this morning but they won't allow me to change the delivery address until they've made one failed delivery attempt. Huh? Then of course the drivers DON'T HAVE PHONES so they can't call me when they're close (I can walk home if I have to), and the girl couldn't pass on any message to the driver since she can't call him or contact him in any way because they DON'T HAVE PHONES. So I have to wait until the driver fruitlessly tries to deliver a package to my empty apartment and then call customer service and tell them the address to my workplace so they can deliver it there on monday. This is a delivery company where the drivers are unable to communicate with both the company and the person they're delivering to. To whom does that make sense?

UPS (dispatch) can communicate with their drivers via their Diads (the thing you sign on).
If you call UPS and give them your doorcode they might be able to send it to their driver. But address corrections can only be done via Amazon before first delivery attempt, not sure on how that works though.

Anyway, call them and ask if you can pick up at the UPS center if you live nearby and they did not manage to deliver it today. Go there after 18:00 since the driver might not have returned to the center before that depending on what area s/he drives in. Customer counter closes at 20:00 and is open on weekdays.

HOLY SHIT I GOT IT

Turned out UPS uses a local delivery firm, thank god for that... the guy called me and was like

- So where exactly can I find your apartment?"
- Well, actually I'm at work right now...
- Oh, where's that?
- It's at *place*
- Oh, ok! I'll be there in 10 mins.
- Thanks!

And now I've got it, going home for lunch but I've already sneaked a peek... it's so small compared to my Keyboard! And the light is awesome! The unevenness on the bottom completely disappeared once I lowered the light from BLINDINGLY BRIGHT to about halfway. Pageturns are super fast and the touch is unexpectedly responsive, I actually think I type FASTER than on the Keyboard. Just from this quick glance I can already tell I'm going to love the shit out of it.

If I have an older Kindle Touch with Special Offers that was sent to me in the UK as a gift from a friend in the USA, what can I do about removing the special offers? The Manage your Kindle page on Amazon UK doesn't offer me any way to remove them by paying legitimately, and the recent firmware update seems to have put the kybosh on other methods.

Yeah I am getting these as well since the recent firmware update, which is why I'd like to remove the ads, but it seems like because my Kindle is an American unit registered with the UK store, the option doesn't get provided.

And it gets interesting when people ask you why are you carrying pictures of men as a screen saver lol. It's certainly a thing walking around the campus with my PW out.
