AMD Radeon 9070XT review thread

Because stuff like this. The value proposition of the 9700xt greatly diminishes above $700, I got a 5070ti this week from Newegg for $840. So yeah the media slamming the Nvidia and celebrating AMD are out of context because the retail msrp launch price of both didn't hold. The education of the PC gaming public isn't what it use to be, IMO. People watch videos, but don't do the proper analysis of the differences vs price points. Now I am not saying that the 9700xt cant be more valuable than the 5070ti, in certain outlier setups, i.e. Bazzite for example in current form, the 9700xt is the way to go. So yeah they flexibility in certain circumstances may be worth more to certain individuals.

We even predicted before the launch that 5070ti gonna be card to get from whole 50xx series, ofc provided u get it at/close to msrp, 16gigs of vram and performance above 9070xt/on pair with older 4080s/7900xtx + rt capabilities/dlss4 actually make a difference with this card, its actually strong enough for u to take advantage and enjoy all new nvidia features(maybe not fake frames, fuck that, but everything else 4sure).

Now if we compare 5070ti at 900$ https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zc...deo-card-geforce-rtx-5070-ti-16g-ventus-3x-oc vs 513$ streetprice of 5060ti https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RM...-video-card-rtx-5060-ti-16g-ventus-2x-oc-plus (US market, both cheapest models i could find) 5070ti makes more sence value wise since its 75% faster on avg for 76% more price(yes even at 900$ streetprice, if u get it for cheaper its even more value) which usually is unprecended while comparing low to midrange product in the same gpu family.
4060ti to 4070tisuper was 2x pricer at 75% performance increase but that wasnt too terrible deal either coz u got 2x vram amount, jump from 8gigs to 16 was massive, so again, it was worth it too.

TLDR: Im not even saying 5070ti or previously 4070ti super were amazing deals, just simply compared to terrible deals we got with 4060ti or now 5060ti(price wise) those were actually much better options.

I've noticed this too. Idiots buying the 9070xts to scalp them for prices above 1000, meanwhile 5070tis are going for 800-900.

insane because the 5070ti is the better card if we're going by those prices. They completely missed the point of why people were hyped over the 9070xt in the first place because they know nothing about gaming.
Thats ultimately why I exchanged my 9070XT for a 5070 Ti. My 9070Xt Asus Prime cost me $725 from Amazon and the I got the 5070 Ti for $799 from MC. Right there, they're at equal value (not performance) I'd say, but better DLSS support and the ability to pass my HDMI through my AV Receiver without sacrificing any features. My Onkyo 6050 can't properly decode AMD GPU signals.

However, if my MC got some 9070XTs back in stock at $599, I would go back to the 9070XT in a heartbeat and deal with eARC.

I'm gonna do a microATX build in the Lian Li Dan A3 case, to get a more powerful "console" in my living room to replace the PS5 Pro. Got the 9070XT Prime OC. Looking forward to building my first "console replacement PC"! Will be a good companion for my full tower 5090 rig. And going the AMD route will make it good to get a "bazzite console" going if I want that at some point!
Be warned that bazzite on AMD cant do HDMI 2.1. You can get 4K/120/VRR @ 8-bit 420, which if I am honest doesn't look as bad as you might think. If you're sitting a comfortable distance away from the TV, you can barely tell, most people would be none the wiser. Still I do hve to mention it.

Sold my 9070XT for a 5070Ti that became available, Nvidias tech and software just feels way more superior and the ease of the experience
while you made the right choice for now, what you said isnt really correct. the only advantage Nvidia has over AMD is multi frame gen. and to me personally, this makes the 5000 series better than 4000 series and AMD cards.

but lets say AMD tomorrow releases multi frame gen on a hardware level ( and they are not strangers to do things like that ). then what advantage Nvidia has ? Nothing.

while DLSS4 is better, FSR4 is amazing. and sometimes better than DLSS 4 in few things.

if I wasnt into a high end gpu like the currently 5090 I have and AMD has FSR4 ? i would 100% probably go with the sweet awesome looking nitro+ 9070xt at lower price point than the 5070ti.

but when i can get games to run ( or like haters wanna say fake frames ) at much higher frames in single player games thanks to the MFG, then yeah it is Nvidia for now.

Behind to what? To a 5070ti? Yeah maybe a few % average over all games, but the 5070ti is also a few % more expensive.
They are pretty much equal right now if you consider the price. If at all, the 9070xt comes out ahead. Atleast thats what i got from benchmarks.
Was you talking to me? I picked the 9070XT as it's around the same performance with 4070ti Super RT.I paid £650 for it,but I think that's pretty good for nearly 4080 performance in raster, sometimes even beating it

Whats everyone thoughts on their 9070xt? Still loving it?
Hell yeah. Really loving this card. I also am enjoying Adrenaline over the Nvidia App. Everything is way more accessible and I like having AFMF in games that don't natively support FG. Looking forward to more native FSR4 games. I saw that Oblivion Remaster and KCD2 added it.

Only weakness is Path Tracing.

if things continue the way that they are i might end up getting a 5070ti honestly. slightly superior performance, much improved PT performance, Nvidia features and it's cheaper because dumbfuck scalpers fell for the YT hype. I don't like that I'll have to get a new PSU for it but oh well.

Insane how AMD's biggest win in decades got fumbled by scalpers misunderstanding why people wanted it in the first place. Shoulda produced more stock.

they produced more stock then they ever did. "more" wasnt an option. Prices in germany are fine, 750€ for a 9070xt or 850€ for a 5070ti.
Depending on the game the 9070xt loses or is faster then the 5070ti, in 4k, they are tied. 9070xt got higher min fps by 1, 5070ti got higher avg fps by 1.

Local Microcenter had a few ASRock 9070XT today for $699. And that was late afternoon.

And they had bunch of Nvidia 5000 series. So stock situation is getting better.

I did my part my dudes.

Soundtrack is amazing.

Nice art direction.

Can't seem to time parry or dodge yet - I get good timing like half of the time, and other times I'm absolutely getting my ass kicked.

The pricing seems good for what we get from the game.

Although IQ of the game seems quite low, I get jaggies even with moded FSR4 on RX 9070XT here and there, which is a bit of a bummer I guess.

I had to turn off depth of field because is absolutely broken... Other than that I haven't had any issues.
How is DLSS compared to FSR4 modded with OptiScaler in Clair Obscur Expedition 33? I get clearer picture than smeary TSR but jaggies are still there.

I'm beggining to think it isn't a magic bullet, if overall IQ is low it will obviously improve things but won't get rid of jaggies even if it acts as DLAA.

Is this the same case with DLSS? I'm curious.

12gigs of vram, ok perf, improved upscaling and rt performance vs old GRE model is all fine, but one key factor gonna make or break this card- actual streetprice(not msrp, since by now we know how fake those can be).
perf puts this at around 3090 to 5070 lvl in raster depending on game so as long as not higher than 450$ on the streets it will be slaying hard.

FYI, cheapest price I have seen for this card (Sapphire Pulse 9070XT: $659) on Amazon US since the limited MSRP cards:

I would pull the trigger but waiting until I can get a 9950X3D at MSRP or better.

Chinese seller? I wonder what you would actually get if you bought that.

I pulled the trigger by cancelling my $670 pre-order on a Powercolor 9070. I'll update you when it arrives.

Bought a prebuilt pc at micocenter with this card. So far loving it. Every game I thrown at it been great. Beside this one game. But looking into it. It been like this on pc for both gpu makers. 😔

Anything near the Real MSRP ($699) has been selling instantly. $659 is pretty suspicious, lol.
I have seen $699 restocks in couple Microcenter stores near me (near is a relative term 😉). So it's not infeasible.

Also, Amazon has a program now where Prime users have a shot at MSRP purchases of cards. I have seen 5070Ti and 5080 cards as well as XFX 9070XT (that one was $800).

The technique replaces the role of a BVH in ray-tracing with a neural network. They claim its already viable for offline and online rendering.

I didn't notice and it looks like it is sold out now. I didn't see any FakeSpot warnings when I was looking at it though.

Good luck!

Ha! I knew it.

When buying on Amazon, I would double check who the seller is and only buy from Amazon directly.
well good luck with that.
walmart does this
home depot does this
best buy does this.

You never know if you are buying from the source and you're fighting BOTs to get in a timely order.

Its not that, I use alot of video editing software etc, CUDA is massive in those spaces

P.S what is surprised is PCI 5.0 x16 compared to 5060ti and different TBP for 8/16GB

Just being able to buy the 9060xt at msrp would make it a good card. Look at the alternatives. Not the most exciting era of hardware we're in.

They are making advacements pretty darn quickly.

Their nextgen cards are really gonna bring the fight to Nvidia.
We can hope.

machine learning FrameGen and RayReconstruction is gonna make them pretty compelling cards even in RT workloads.

RDNA5/UDNA compared to RDNA4 will have "helluva" changes. Rest info later this year/next , more confirmation is needed to be 100% sure about it, before talking.
I bet a lot of this is being done to get fully baked by the time PS6 releases.

Has anyone here upgraded from a 3080 to the 9070XT? If so, how are you finding the upgrade?

I've mentioned in other threads that I've got a feeling that Nvidia drivers are giving me crashes (around 5 in 40 minutes with HD2 and constant in Doom TDA) and so I'm thinking I might try and get a reasonably priced GPU upgrade and then upgrade my whole rig in 2-3 years. I only get an hour or so to play a few evenings a week and can't be dealing with this bullshit anymore.

Up to 40% better performance but that vram jump from 10GB to 16GB will be much bigger deal.
