Yea for me that was the best premiere in the series. Lots of potential, let's hope it is not squandered.

Upon reflection, I like it a tad more knowing that it's

- Messy plot hopping. Some of the scenes were downright incoherent and the narrative flow was all but nonexistent.
- Ripping off
was just ridiculous.
- The
scene was just sort of unnecessary and stupid.
- Lady Gaga can't act her way out of a cardboard box.
- Really cheap looking effects and gore.
- Really awkward and poorly written dialogue.
Meh, 4/10. I'll give it two more episodes, if it can't grab me then, I'm jumping ship, which I wish I would have done with Freakshow.

People actually enjoyed the use of hotel california there? Cmon, exercise some restraint.
I can understand using it, but you kind of need to earn it, maybe later on in the season after a triumphant episode of loss and hopelessness, and maybe a cover so it feels more like a homage

I thought it showed off a lot of potential but I think the flow was incoherent. I don't get the complaints about Gaga's acting. Her acting didn't stick out to me as any worse or better than most of the characters on the show. The only characters who struck me as good performances was Sarah Paulson and Chloe Sevigny. I'll wait and see how the rest of the season progresses but the premier struck me as interesting but messy. Given AHS is known for taking on too many plot lines, I hope they are mindful of it this season.

One of the central plot line stems from a rape in Murder House.

Sounds like the first episode wasn't too bad, but then AHS has never really struggled out of the gate, it's when it hits it's fourth and fifth episodes that the momentum collapses and it becomes a boring, tired mess to watch.

I thought coven was pretty meh from the get go. If it wasn't for Angela and Karhy I doubt I would have finished. Freak show had its moments. I dug the homage to season two. Dandy has his moments and so did the clown. Otherwise, the majority was meh. This was gory sex and drugs with a murder house twist and some sort of vampire shit. I hope it continues like this.

loved the 80s/50s blend of aesthetic they had in this though. it's the best looking AHS pilot/setting yet imo.

The opening credits are the weakest yet. I really don't like the 10 Commandments text intermixed with the cast member's names - it's too messy. The rest is generic random scary monster stuff that isn't really all that scary without any context.

I haven't watched a full season since 2. I wanted to like Coven but hated it after 2 episodes. Didn't even bother with Freak Show as I don't like the concept.
This was.... hammy as shit. With some full on porn in there. I know they like to disorient you but the editing is all over the place. And it's usually a good idea to give you somebody to like, but I hate everyone so far.
