The Atlanta Ultras were given official notice yesterday by the Front Office of the Atlanta Silverbacks FC per the NASL, that the our supporters group will be banned for three home games. Any attempt to support our club or congregate in any way will result in point reduction for our club during the spring season. The ban is a result of rumors and alleged misconduct for which we were blamed. We were given no due process, and were left out of the loop in regards to the "specifics" of the ban until 4 days prior to the first home match. The fact that the actions in question were done by individuals and not the AU does not seem to factor in to the equation. Though we find the ban to be unjust and beyond the scope of reasonable, we will not be able to support our club as a group for the next three matches. The last thing we want is to hurt our boys on the field. We find the ban unjustified given that we were not able to receive facts and or given a chance to give our side of the story before being issued a ban by the NASL by way of our front office. We will not let this defeat us, we will never give up. AU101

"The Atlanta Ultras were issued a 3 Game Ban due to the incidents that occurred at the Soccer Bowl. We are not stopping you from tailgating (although it must be cut off by kickoff), but we will not allow you to congregate as a group inside the stadium or anywhere visible from the stadium (along the fence). You are not allowed to march in as a group, not allowed to sit together as a noticeable group, draw attention to yourselves by use of banners or flags, etc...essentially nothing organized as a group will be permitted and you are not allowed to sit in section 101. Additionally if you stage individual "protests/acts" throughout the facility, those members will be escorted from the building.

The league has mandated that we sanction your group. If you do not respect this ban, the league will take action against our club. The only action that has been discussed would be points taken away from our club. As supporters of our club, I hope you will all do the right thing. Please come to the game, spread yourselves out on the 100 level side of the stadium (except 101) and enjoy the game in a manner that will not draw attention to yourselves. We will be forced to take action against individuals who cross the line, and the facility reserves the right to provide additional sanctions against individuals, which they take very seriously at this point.

Additionally note that foul language is no longer tolerated. Individuals who use foul language will be given a warning. 2nd time they are escorted from the stadium. Too many complaints regarding your groups use of foul language and it is counter productive to what we are trying to do...bring out more fans. And as before, no flares, smoke bombs, or pyro allowed anymore.

Please make sure your members respect this, or the team will be punished accordingly.

Finally, any actions taken against other supporter groups by your members will not be tolerated.

If you can make it through 3 games, we can lift the ban and look forward to your return. If not, additional sanctions will be given out."

Smacked. Would like to find out more about what their offenses were.

He'd had plenty of opportunities imo. Just played incredibly poorly for an entire freaking year. Smh
Definitely. The fact that he was dropped down to the U21 team and failed to take advantage of the opportunity said alot about his attitude. Confidence doesn't seem to be the issue anymore. Seems more like a bad attitude from someone that can't come to terms with the fact that he is not good enough for the "best league in the world."
Jozy needs a loan to mls ASAP preferably to rbny

The quicker the better. Any teams, it just needs to happen fast and for his sake should become permanent.

Free Jozy!

One more win last night. They're into the semis. Sounds like a good squad.

In other news, JA Brooks missed the Leverkusen game last week because he got a tattoo and it was still bothering him. Bad timing, John.

U20 will play Fluminese in the semifinals. A lot of squad rotation because of the nature of the tournament but hopefully this squad should qualify for the U20 World Cup. The members of the last WC should figure heavily in Olympic qualifying.

Sounds like Brooks has a lot of growing up to do.

It seems like it'll be a pretty ambitious schedule if it should be done by about this time or slightly after next year. Think the plan is to move from the Citrus Bowl to the new stadium in May 2015.
That's been the plan all along. Can't wait to go to games in both of the new stadiums.

It's our mistake for trying to find a diamond in a pile of shit that is forwards for the NT.

I just don't get how we can't find a single competent forward. I only watch College Soccer when it hits tourney time but theres tons of good looking talent out there I feel.

Jozy has to play against Chelsea not UC Santa Barbara...

That wasn't really my main point, more that theres decent college players coming up and instead of harping on the likes of Davies like last WC, to Jozy, then Agudelo supposedly the savoir, to Wondo.

Jozy's cache got inflated in the Dutch league and carrying that form into a couple of NT games. But he's always been selfish and lacking overall effort IMO.

I just don't get how in this country(or Germany/Mexico ;)) there isn't one decent forward playing in college or the likes to help improve our squad.

Now would be the perfect time for him to come back. With other players back in MLS now, it will help to disguise his failure in England a bit. More importantly, it will help to show if he really is as talented and passionate about the game as, say, Michael Bradley. Bradley has set the standard for how a player handles a return to MLS.

My thoughts exactly.

You know who would help rectify that problem? Tim Cahill.

Osorio, sometime in the last MLS thread you asked me if it was SKC's Front Office or the Supporter's Group that paid for the away tickets we get for free. I just ran across this, so I can tell you now it's the FO:

2014 Away Tickets

Sporting Club and Sporting Kansas City are happy to provide our supporters with free away game tickets. In order to help as many people as possible, we will hold each request link open for approximately 6 weeks. We will start taking requests 2 months in advance of the game and close the link 2 weeks before the match. The Sporting KC front office and supporter group leadership will work closely in monitoring the ticket requests and do our best to accommodate as many of them as we can. However, due to the various venue capacities and ticket prices, some requests may not be granted.

Orlando City Seeks Fan Input on Design of New Soccer Stadium

Fans are encouraged to send their stadium design ideas to stadiumideas@orlandocitysoccer.com or via Twitter using #NewOCSCStadium.

“If you have even a small idea that you think would be cool regarding Orlando City’s new stadium, this is how you can get our attention for it,” said Rawlins. “Orlando City’s goal is to create an iconic year-round development on Church Street that will serve as the top soccer stadium in MLS – and we’re excited to hear our fans’ ideas on how we can best accomplish this goal.”

FC Barcelona opening youth academy in Florida this summer

Major League Soccer isn’t the only one expanding to the southeast of the United States.

FC Barcelona announced that the club is opening a youth academy for children ages 6-13 at Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., this August. The club has conducted soccer camps around the country for the last seven years – and the last five summers and three winters in Fort Lauderdale – but this will be its first permanent academy in the USA. Its technical staff will be made up of Barcelona coaches who will live in Florida and pass on the same values and and tactics taught at the club’s famed La Masia academy.

“After many years of handling the big task of understanding the American market we considered that it is the moment to establish ourselves in a permanent manner, it is a big step forward. We are very motivated in this new challenge and we are undertaking it with great excitement,” FCBEscola director Xevi Marce said in a club statement.

The club expects 400 boys and girls in its first year, with tryouts commencing May 17, and it will conduct its summer camp in July before opening the academy on Aug. 25, Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium manager Duncan Finch told SI.com. Eventually, the academy will expand to include 14- and 15-year-olds, and it will look to pool kids from Miami-Dade County and Broward County while being seen as an alternative to local club and travel teams, Finch added.

Barcelona will be renting the facilities at CBRP — which have previously hosted the MLS player combine — six days a week to run the academy. Each age group will work with its coaches two days a week on the main field — which features a 5,000-seat stadium — and Saturdays will consist of intrasquad scrimmages. Teams will go to a couple of tournaments a year, including one that includes another Barcelona academy from around the world, Finch said.

US to train at Stanford ahead of World Cup

The U.S. soccer team will train at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., ahead of the World Cup.

The Americans will start gathering there on May 14 and train at the Cagan Stadium soccer facility and Stanford Stadium, the university's football home.

"This is going to be the foundation of the World Cup," U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said in a video interview released Thursday by the U.S. Soccer Federation. "It's a dry climate. It's fresh air. We can add more sessions into that period than we usually would do."

Training sessions will not be open to the public.

I will find a way to watch...

From the Goff article:
The federation is exploring the possibility of at least one open session at Stanford during the two-week session leading to the May 27 friendly against Azerbaijan at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

- MLS' Extratime Radio podcast with Mixx Diskerud as a guest this week
Rosenborg and USMNT midfielder Mix Diskerud didn't want to be part of a "dry" interview. The guys obliged, asking the 23-year-old about his offseason road trips, a beatdown at the hands of the No. 1-ranked chessmaster in the world and unusual fan requests. Oh, and Diskerud also gets around to talking about his failed move to the Portland Timbers, life on the roster bubble ahead of Brazil and Bob Bradley at Stabaek.

Your front office just gets it. I mean you guys do have to travel pretty extensively for your away trips but its still a nice gesture.

I can remember the red bulls front office giving us free away tickets on two occasions: 2008 western conference finals against salt lake and New England away in 2009 because we sucked so hard that year

The girlfriend and I are actually planning a Chicago trip for the May game because of it. The Supporter's Group has bus tickets plus drinks plus a meal for $70 each. Then the game tickets are free. Can't be beat. I regret not going to the Denver game earlier.

The Colorado away game was so much fun. I actually moved to Colorado last August, so I had a short trip to the Dick. It was nice being in the Cauldron again. I can't wait to get back to Sporting Park this summer.

I dunno if I'm alone in this thinking but shouldn't we be training somewhere hot and humid? You know, preparing for conditions in the amazon?

I thought the same thing. Especially since England is training down here in South Florida right before the WC. It's hot and humid here right now lol.

Major League Soccer leads the way among professional leagues represented with 13 players from nine different clubs receiving a call-up. I just noticed 11 of the 21 are from California. Two from Colorado, two from Washington, one each from Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi... none from the northeast.

It's a little disappointing to see some kids on that list from the Bay Area that are with other MLS teams now, but I haven't looked into the particulars. They might have moved when they were very young. SJ continues to be a goalie-factory when it comes to prospects.

From the Goff article:

As for the mild climate ahead of warmer Brazil …

“The climate is ideal. We can really work the team hard and focus before we go into the more tropical areas, obviously Brazil, but our last step in our preparation will be Florida for six days. … It is a dry climate, it’s fresh air. We can add more sessions into that period than we usually would do. … We can risk the guys will have some heavy legs, tired legs, because they can put their legs up in the evening. They also need to get that feeling that, ‘Okay, through a lot of work, I will benefit in Brazil. The more I do in that time period at Stanford, the more I will be stronger in Brazil.’ It will be a lot of fun, it will be a lot of work in a positive environment, in a great energy environment such as a college campus.”

U20 team is through to the finals of the Dallas cup. Rematch against River Plate. Sounds like a lot of the guys have left and the team is a very makeshift one.

A few Yanks Abroad notes:

- Cameron goes 90 for Stoke. Guzan with another 90 for Villa
- JA Brooks starts for Hertha
- Altidore on the bench for Chelsea - Sunderland (starts in a half hour)
- Spector played for Birmingham. Packwood was an unused sub.

And jozy gets lucky with an injury to his replacement. Time to shine, Jozy.

Connor Wickham has 3 goals this week. Altidore hasn't even scored that many in his entire time in England.

EDIT: Here it is! PK!

ooh, and Borini gets to take it and scores.
