But they're the Mets.
The Yankees' time is coming to an end. Mets are in the better position for the long haul.

Right. The Yankees' time is coming to an end. Mets are in the better position for the long haul.
Right.
I can reveal that Rapid Vienna ace Terrence Boyd is now getting calls from the top two flights in England and Germany. Red Bull Salzburg remain interested, but I'm told the forward is hoping to move up from the Austrian Bundesliga.
Red Bulls should affiliate themselves with the Mets.
If I see one more post about NYCFC's marketing, I'm going to lose my mind.
It's so goddamn frustrating to see all of it.
Liviu Bird posting about this on Twitter, too. Such bad positioning:The Shin Guardian breaking down some tactical problems that the US was having today:

At least they have one game and a little under two weeks to fix it.
Nobody in their right mind would do that.
Red Bulls just need to advertise how fucking awesome their stadium is.
Yes, it'd require some context to figure out exactly what happened there, though the US was getting stretched regularly. The defensive setup didn't work very well until the halftime adjustments.I'd need to see the leadup in order to really see what happened though
I think most of the odds makers that give the US about a 30% chance of advancing are probably about right. It's not likely, but not outside the realm of possibility. The US will have to play pretty well and get a little bit of luck to get through the group.Anyone here believe US will make it out of their group?
Sporting Kansas City announced on Tuesday that the club has agreed to transfer midfielder Oriol Rosell to Sporting CP in Lisbon, Portugal. Sporting Kansas City will receive two-thirds of the transfer fee to use as allocation money^ per MLS rules, as well as a percentage of any future transfer of Rosell from Sporting CP to another club.
Per club policy, terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.
We wish Uri the best of luck in pursuing this new opportunity," said Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman. "The perception from the outside might be that the timing is not great, but from the inside we believe that the timing is perfect. It opens the door for Uri and for us. Uri came from Barcelona B to Sporting Kansas City, won an MLS Cup and furthered his development on the field. This transfer helps enable us to retain our core players while adding pieces to the team. As we continue to build our roster for the future, and looking at our goal of pursuing championships, we identify what types of players we need to have on our roster to compete continuously for the U.S. Open Cup, MLS Cup and Champions League. This move has also expanded the relationships we have built with many top clubs, opening access to similar players around the world, showcasing what can be accomplished in Kansas City and the other platforms that open up from here.
Rosell, 21, joined Sporting Kansas City in August 2012 from Barcelona B. He contributed two goals and two assists in 49 MLS appearances (including postseason) and led all MLS players with 130 interceptions during the 2013 season. Rosell was voted No. 14 on MLSsoccer.com's top 24 players under the age of 24 last year and made his international debut for Catalonia in 2013.
Sporting Clube de Portugal were runners-up in the Liga ZON Sagres this season and will compete in the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League. The team features two-time MLS All-Star Fredy Montero, as well as four players on national team rosters for the 2014 FIFA World Cup: Islam Slimani (ALG), Marcos Rojo (ARG), William Carvalho (POR) and Rui Patricio (POR).
^In accordance with MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, allocation money does not count against a club's salary budget and can be used:
To sign players new to MLS
To re-sign an existing MLS player, subject to League approval
To "buy-down" a player's salary budget charge below the League maximum
In connection with the exercise of an option to purchase a player's rights or the extension of a player's contract for the second year provided the player was new to MLS in the immediately prior year
Rosell becomes the third Sporting Kansas City player in the last 18 months to move to Europe. In 2013, Honduran midfielder Roger Espinoza joined Wigan Athletic (England) and Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara was transferred to Middlesbrough FC (England). Rosells transfer will open a Salary Budget Player spot and international slot on the Sporting Kansas City roster.
Anyone here believe US will make it out of their group?
I wish I knew how much Kamara money was left, if any, and how much we'll have after this. We need to make a big signing. Not a Clint Dempsey or Michael Bradley signing, but we need to spend some money on someone.
Altidore?
Altidore?
I was talking to someone about that. He's big and physical which we could use. His potential goal scoring upside is great. However he's in a seven month slump and we don't know how soon he'll come out of it. Also we always try to hard working players who aren't afraid to run and I don't know if Jozy will work hard enough to make Vermes happy.
There's a reason the "Is Jozy Running?" twitter account exists.
Yes. We play better as underdogs and between Germany and Portugal at least one has to falter.

Did Anybody watch tonight's episode? How was it? My Dvr once again didn't record it...
Quick reminder that there's a new episode of Inside: US Soccer's March to Brazil tonight at 7:30pm ET.

Further confirmation from Portugal that Cristiano is having an issue with his patellar tendon. He also has a muscular problem with his thigh.
You need to make a big signing? Shieeeeet. The only DP we have is Valeri, and he definitely is not a big money DP. He's the kinda "just barely a DP" DP. I hope to GOD that Lescott signing goes through because our backline is TERRIBLE and the way the league is starting to pan out having a good backline is going to be more important than ever.I wish I knew how much Kamara money was left, if any, and how much we'll have after this. I hope he gets better soon. And by soon, I mean within the next couple months. Definitely not within the next month.Further confirmation from Portugal that Cristiano is having an issue with his patellar tendon. He also has a muscular problem with his thigh.
Holy crap, we may just get lucky. Horrible news, I hope he gets better and all that but this may help us make it out of the group.
Honestly, it's a let down for me if he cannot play. I want to see this guy in person. I want to see the US beat him.
