Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I just did the amiibo survey on club nintendo.
It basically asked me how many Amiibos I own, how ive used them, etc. One really weird question was if I took my Amiibos to my friends house and why/why not. I basically wrote a rant in there saying that isnt the point of Amiibos and that Nintendo needs to wake up and make a dedicated Amiibo game.
Do they really think were taking our Wii Fit Trainers and Marths to other peoples houses, let alone, out of the box?
I also mentioned I was disapointed in the functionality of the amiibo figures so far. For 12.99, they need to do alot more than just unlock an item or level to 50.
If Nintendo really misses on making a dedicated game for Amiibos like Infinity or Skylanders, then wtf man.

I hate the idea of keeping toys in their boxes. Also I have had people bring their amiibos to my apartment and it's super fun to root for your amiibo versus a friends' after all the humans have been knocked out of match
How do you take the survey? Actually how do I even let Nintendo know I have a bunch of amiibo to send me the survey?

They ask about amiibos if you've registered smash bros.
My fear is that the street date will be a joke again and retailers can't fulfill preorders.
I got the survey a couple of days ago as well. My rant was a little more about supply issues than functionality. Even though I've been lucky enough to find all of waves 1 and 2, I expressed my displeasure at these issues. I wasn't too concerned about their functionality right now because I assume that the games that will use them even more are coming in the future.
Hmmm, I´m debating if I should go amiibo hunting today, my SO is planning a birthday party for me today at around 1pm, but I kinda want to go look if I have any luck with a spare Captain Falcon to display at my store.
I know target doesn´t have any.
I know the only gamestop that has it s on Fashion Valley (And its really far from me)
I know TRU has yet to receive their first shipment of 2b, so there is a chance there.
I know I got my extra Pit on my PO BOX, so its not a complete waste to go...
Its my birthday so I´m feeling kinda lazy, but on the other hand I really enjoy the hunt

How would you guys go about training an Amiibo to be extremely stupid and terrible? In other words, how would any of you go about building up a 'Worst Amiibo'? I'm not talking about tanking stats, but fighting behaviors.

Nothing but fights with level 1 computers maybe?
I don't know much about how it really works, but I'm curious to see what happens if you level it up only by playing against it, and not touching your controller. So have it fight an unmoving opponent.
Just a guess, but I'd think it wouldn't learn much that way.
But at the same time, it feels like a lot of the amiibo AI is just prebaked, like 'this character at this level gets these habits', but with a few tweaks.
TRU exists in some sort of alternate universe where the 6th was a Wednesday I guess?

edit: Holy shit now they're telling me that it is actually is cancelled and the reinstatement email was sent by mistake per customer service. This is mind blowing. It cannot even comprehend how terrible Toys R us is. I will absolutely never shop there again.

Haha this is hilarious! I got the exact same email. When I pulled up the order though it also showed me it was still cancelled. Good to know it was a mistake thought and I shouldn't expect any order.

Question for the group: I've got every amiibo released so far except for Marth. Starting with the next wave that's released, I'm not going to try to collect them all and will only go after the ones I actually care about. However, I'd really like to grab a Marth, just to complete the first two waves.
So, what are my best options? I'm not paying scalper prices, and I don't really want to pay $30 (which is about what I've seen Japanese eBay sellers charging). Barring a sudden re-stock by Nintendo, do I have any other choices besides those?

Not really, i imported my Marth and Villager and it came out tonlike $43. Rosalina I have ordered and it comes out to like $27

Well I guess you can pray that he gets restocked. Other than that I got nothing.
Yeah, there is no other way. Only a Nintendo full restock can save you right now if you want to pay 15 bucks for an amiibo, other than that you only have the option of importing.
The fact that Villager is now sold out pretty much everywhere, including import sites, means that WFT and Marth are next in the chopping block.
If you want it bite now, or get a rare figure to trade for Marth, that is it.
Yeah, that's what I figured. I really wish I would have picked one up in the first couple of days when there were tons of them in stores.
I may bite the bullet and get and import one from Japan. Since I'm not trying to complete the whole set and can hopefully grab the rest of the ones I want as they come out, I guess I can talk myself into importing just this one.

Best buy shipped my falcon and pit figures by purposely bending the boxes top flap totally down making huge creases on the boxes -_-

Honestly, $30 isn't terrible assuming shipping is included in the price. You won't find much better of a deal ordering from Amazon.de or Fr when you factor in the price of international shipping. It breaks down to like $15 for the Amiibo and $15 for international shipping.

Thanks, I ended up getting it out of the box because I wanted the best looking one, the feedback from a couple of GAFers confirms that I made the right move!
What's funny is that before unwrapping the package I was sure it would be broken or have something wrong with it, the guy that shipped it from Japan slapped it in a taped brown paper bag with some bubbles and that's all. :lol
Now I can't wait to see the other one that will come with my only Villager, since my Play-Asia one got cancelled. I'll probably end up doing a trade with a GAFer for Shulk or something like that.
Oh and also, does Villager has noticeable, regular flaws that I should check out for when I'll receive it?

Maybe a controversial option around here, but buy two from amazon.fr (assuming he is even available at this point). It will cost you something like $43. Once they arrive, list the other on ebay. You'll get about $50 for it.
Got Marth on Ebay. Paid 44$ for it and now I see it for 36$, I'd say if someone wants it, it's pretty much the time. I'm a bit salty but the fact that mine is a perfect Marth makes me feel better about it.
Diddy and Wii Fit Trainer on Play-Asia, had Villager but it got cancelled. Thankfully a GAFer from Germany offered to get me one.

At this point you are going to find it near impossible to import Marth, Villager, or WFT, except for from resellers. Marth is still available to order at amazon.fr with a 2-4 week wait.

Pit, Falcon, and Luigi arriving today! As fate would have it, I got the day off work due to intense cold weather! So I'll be able to scan Falcon in for Mario Kart and finally get to use that costume. Been waiting a month for this shit.

I would like to help out the Gaf Amiibo community. I'm very disabled and cannot mail multiple packages but can send out one box with the Amiibo's. If someone is willing to help me get these to fellow Gaf members please PM me. I don't want money or to make a profit. I have 3 WFT still in the box and 1 Diddy still in the box. Looks pretty good to me, is the sword bent? Can't really see from this angle.
Very, very slightly, but it's not really that noticeable, fortunately.

Hah. I ordered Samus from Best Buy and it came in a really flimsy bubble mailer. The packaging's all bent. Bleh.
Marth from amiami.com arrived. Really pleased with the paint apps and straight sword that I don't have to deal with altering :3
