Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I asked the people at electronics at my Target if they had any clue if they were still selling.
They said it wasn't in their last planned shipment, so they aren't getting any(Cloverdale Mall, Toronto)
Same for me. Hope rising.

Still real curious what they're going to do with Codename steam and the marth amiibo.
Lucina and Robin come out after release so nothing can be done there. But Ike and marth are before the release and both of them are probably going to be OOS by the time the game releases (marth alteady is). If functionality like this is going to start getting locked out it's going to be pretty tiring as things progress. Those cards need to come out as a backup for travel (because of New 3DS) as well as still working on stocking figures in other ways.

Most likely Nintendo will rerelease about 4 Ike and Marth to each store. All the scalpers will buy them up and there goes supply and demand again. Recommendation: if there's a preorder for anything at all (bundles and non bundles), do it without thought.
I think Nintendo said that they would restock Marth a bit, and cards will probably be a backup...
That being said, it's still only a cameo character. That's a nice thing to get, but hardly a huge problem if you can't unlock them, I'd say. I even remember being reluctant to use Vyse in Valkyria Chronicles because it felt a bit out of place...
And most people won't even be able to scan the Amiibo with an original 3DS (the scanner isn't included with the game, afaik?)

I did Ike and other in store not knowing I would be out of town for work. So got screwed on that one if they don't hold them for me. Trying to grab them while I'm out here and if I still get them I'll help people here.
But still now that were getting actual DLC like content tied to amiibos. The scarcity is even more of a issue.
Guess it depends on the gamer. That FE support is why I want to get steam. Game can go from a day 1 to some day depending on what I get a hold of. No clue about the adapter they haven't said anything about it even in Japan.
What store? If it's through Best Buy, you can change the person that's picking up the order.

It's GameStop and I'm the only one who lives back there so I can't have anyone pick it up for me. Honestly I'm hoping snow and weather delays them from getting up there. The spaced release is already a plus for me because of my situation. Since had they all been there the 1st I wouldn't even have a chance.

They need to limit every amiibo to one per customer.
Thank goodness. Now I wonder if the other exclusives will be limited as well...though I wouldn't mind two Shulks so I can give one away.

That's the frustrating think about Amiibo. I'll read this post and go in to my local GameStop in Houston to fine two Marios, a Peach and an employee who hardly even knows what an Amiibo is.

(I like Target, I really do, so I hope they push this) My local gamestops did a limit one on a lot of the recent preorder/webinstore stuff, I really appreciated that.
I'm leaning towards no... but it depends.
You can quite easily get EU versions of Ike, Bowser, Toon Link, Sheik and Lucario for 60-65£ online, shipping included.
I'd say it's probably possible to find a Rosalina for £35-40, but that's the big question mark. And whether the couple of £ you'll spare worth the time spend in hunting is up to you.

Me too. I canceled amazon because they didn't even have an estimated delivery date like some other preorders I have for blurays.
Walked into TRU and they had plenty of Toon Link and Bowser. Everything about amiibos is fucked. If your preorder isnt canceled at one retailer it's not fulfilled while sitting on shelves somewhere else.

In Canada an EBGames broke the street date and started selling wave 3 amiibo. It might just be an isolated case as the EBGames I called told me they would not be selling them until the 30th even if they get it earlier.

With the way target is set up unless they lock them you buy one at electronics.
Go back to the shelf and buy the other up front.
If you're really interested in FE cameos, I'd say it won't be such an issue. Marth is still available online in Europe in many places, especially in german online shops* (you just have to find one that ships to your country, but there's a couple of them at least), and several Gaffers can probably help you if you can't find a solution (just ring the bell
)I was talking from a Nintendo point of view: I don't consider a huge issue if the average Codename Steam buyer has troubles to unlock a cameo character. And even considering this, they already talked about producing a couple more, and later producing cards that act like an Amiibo...
