I really like this dock and the interior, feels like an actual vacation spot.

Yeah, the whole area pretty much looks like a resort.

You sure? sounds a lot different than the other Preludes.

Also it's not just this track, the first track from the "Reclaim Your Throne" trailer is epic as fuck too.

https://apollo2.dl.playstation.net/...EE_CONTENTyqyotye7SJvdXcbBzG7Y/23119_B_PV.mp4

and the few tracks we heard before the Uncovered show began, it all sounds fantastic. But then again it's Shimomura so of course it's good.

I'm usually the first guy to defend a dub, but it's gonna be hard here . The Japanese VA sounds phenomenal.

Yeah, same. It's just annoying since I thought Duscae actually looked solid but it's only gotten worse from there.
The only thing that is worse is the image quality & framerate. They need some better AA in there. Otherwise the graphics have seen some improvements. And IQ & performance are exactly the kind of things they can & always do work on during the last months of development. Remember how DriveClub still looked at E3 2014 (very rought IQ), then (less than) 6 months later it's like a whole other game.

Why does it seem like every FFXV thread these days immediately defaults to "this is PC footage" or "hmm... Will wait for the PC version."?

Anyway, this looks really great. Feels really good to see more info on the game and how it'll progressing in the opening few hours. Very tempted to try media blackout.

Noctis' Japanese voice actor is insanely good in this trailer!

That said, I think I'll go with English first. In this game the banter really adds a lot to the experience, and I can't be bothered to read subtitles as I'm running around the world.

You're just used to bullshots and lies from Western devs. Square Enix is doing the opposite so no one will complain about graphics.

Except for several statements in this thread that basically come across the equivalent to "This game visuals look bad"

Considering the scale of this game and the sort of game it is, if that what looks bad, I want to know what a similar game of it's ilk that is considered to look "good" Especially when this was originally going to be a PS3 game which was halted and shifted development entirely to the PS4 on an engine with rather troubled development.

I have seen very few JRPGs in terms of scope or scale in the vein of Final Fantasy XV that look comparable to it, if any at all that is on console for that matter.

The only game that has a similar scale(purely based on the size of the world), is Just Cause 3. JC3 has some performance issues on PS4, but has good IQ. That said, apart from map size, it's much less ambitious in most other aspects.

I'm not a developer, so what does Pre-Beta mean and how far along is that?

Beta generally means a game is mainly feature complete with no new content to be added and just going through last minute polishing and refinement. (outside of sometimes DLC and post-release content being worked on)

Pre-Beta is usually after Alpha, in which the game is largely done but maybe a few additions may be incorporated, like some last minute gameplay additions.

The fact that FFXV is apparently to be in the middle of Beta according to Tabata means the game is playable from start to finish but has some specific issues that need to be addressed, quality assurance needs to make sure everything is solid as it reasonably can be and in a functional and working state before going gold.

I never was a FF guy, but I do at least give them a try. I loved the Paradigm system in FF13, but failed to make it past 15 hours of play time. I need to give the demo a shot.

or you must be, considering no one in that exchange was being serious and I was just making a jab at him for being the ffxv quote encyclopedia .-.

LOL, you got me, I didn't even realize that jab. Nice one! :D I actually thought you didn't recognize me and was amused to have trolled a fellow hyper!

Will wait for the PS4K version instead

As time goes on my enthusiasm for Final Fantasy XV wanes. I now find myself more hyped for World of Final Fantasy. That's not a good sign from a traditional Final Fantasy fan.

I know I said I would blackout after uncovered but, ugh. So hard!

That video was fun to watch! Actually for being in pre beta, it looks really good.

It's not a good sign for you, no. My interest has continued to rise as more footage has been released.

Well, can't blame you, really. WoFF is more FF than this here. Turn-based, no effin' cars and guns etc.

Great to hear that the story comes first, and then the devs worked on giving freedom within that story.

Also, was that a giant friggin' crow-ish enemy? Or something? That thing was huge!

I'm very much looking forward to the game but how many times are they going to use the "not final, pre-beta" excuse for the visuals when it keeps looking worse and worse every time it's shown? I just want them to prove that they're making progress on that front. On a technical level, this doesn't look like a game coming out in six months.
Honestly, I feel they're just wanting to show the final/near final build at E3 to (hopefully) blow people away.

Can't tell if serious.

Just spotted a Chocobo in that resort area:

Pretty neat that we can ride Chocobos, the car and have a big open space like that right from the get go.

Liking Cid's gestures and dialog line, hope his voice acting is okay.

Build still seems rough in areas so wouldn't be surprised if this is what they had back in November/December.

"A miserable pie of secrets" lol

Also weather icons are so redundant

My interest in this Final Fantasy is "did they pull it off after all this time?" It's a different interest from "Fuck yeah! Another FF!" which hasn't been around since the PS2 FFs. But I'm still interested enough to preorder a $260 version of the game (which may or may not be kept...but ordered Deluxe Edition as a back up).

It would be awesome to have the JP voices as an option or optional download (fuck the HDD space, just do it!) but I'm not counting on it.

I'm pretty sure that they announced they would be included in the game (on disc, not as an optional download).

Considering that both Duscae and the Platinum Demo have had both, I'd be surprised if they removed that for the launch.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

Yeah, i agree.

just watched this comparison video and yeah there is no way i'll be playing this game with english dub. Japanese sounds in my opinion way better.

So glad we get dual audio, thank you Square Enix.

People are saying that this footage that comes with two disclaimers warning that this does not represent the final product looks bad?

Can't imagine the game being particularly small if that is the case. Not that I was expecting to be small to begin with.

Two of the largest contributing factors to data taking up HDD space is audio and texture data. I'm sure FFXV also is filled with tons of CGI / non-realtime cutscenes.

Using an example FFXIII on the PS3 with a single audio track was 38GB, yet FFXIII on PC because probably higher res textures and multiple voice tracks the game increased to 60GB

I can't imagine what FFXV file size would sit at with uncompressed or increased texture data. Of course the game would look nicer but the storage it takes up would be bloated in comparison.

Can't imagine it will be fun for folks getting this game on digital without a solid internet connection with no monthly caps.

Great interview. Glad to hear the narrative is still the first pillar and it sounds like the intro moves at a fast clip and really communicates the games philosophy and focus.

Guess:

Chapter 0 is you playing as Regis and his friends.

I actually can't think of a better way they could mention that stuff in the game itself.

I really really want them to nail the story. The best story I've ever played in a Final Fantasy has to be 6, and in the 3D games it was 12 (which fell apart admittedly towards the end). The majority of FF stories in this day and age are really over-the-top and devolve into complex eccentric nomenclature before they ever get their foot off the ground.

Final Fantasy XIII, I still don't really understand what the hell happened in that game.

Same here.

Even if it's just a bunch of tropes, and Japanese anime nonsense, I hope it's at least entertaining. Maybe Noctis will have amnesia, or he wakes up and finds out it was all a dream. He wakes up on his throne ~ then late title card shatters FINAL FANTASY XV ----> FINAL FANTASTY VERSUS XIII.

In all seriousness though I hope it is akin to a PS1 era FF game in terms of story. Grandiose, but filled with great character moments.

Also want to point out that dynamic weather/lighting can make a big difference:

This was a camp scene in the latest trailer:

This is the same footage GI took, but under different weather conditions:

A lot of the footage GameInformer shot seems to have a thick layer of fog too.

It's easy to have dual audio in short demos. There's the issue of space when it comes to the full game. The game is massive enough as is. (Good quality) audio files aren't exactly small and then there's the question of lip sync, i.e. will they include cgi vids lip synced for both languages or just have one video file and the other language will be out of sync.

This might be my first Final Fantasy game.

You should try to play another one before this! Most of them are very good and it's fun to see how the constants of the series are interpreted and implemented differently from game to game. Go for it if you have the time. It'll add another layer to XV for you.
