UhhhWhat list are you talking about?
The top 20 best selling wii games according to Wikipedia
If you're talking about the one that came from Nintendo Power, that was sales from just NA.
Yup, and these same kind of studies usually claim 50% (or more) of gamers are female
they're pointless
Kind agree with the rest, except #3.3. What is this whole: "If Activision is not in, then it's doomed" thingy? Activision didn't support the Wii either. Nintendo is a rare case. Is like a one man band. They do their hardware, have excellent in house games, and has 5 to 10 third party exclusives that are great. This is all what Nintendo needs to still succed with the WiiU.
It has already struck twice, with the DS, and it looks like the 3DS is on track for a third lightning strike since it's selling faster than the DS.But will lightening strike twice? Will the majority that bought a Wii pick up the successor. The compelling reason of why people bought the Wii was a different or more friendly gaming experience to the HD twins and it became its expanded market. Have they all moved on is the question.
1. Why is graphic power the main issue here? PS2/GC era prove this wrong. Wii/PS3/360 era prove this wrong, again. So... why is this "underpower" still an issue? The point is that WiiU has more power (a lot more) than Wii. So, if we take what the Wii has done, and think bigger, we might get an idea of where this is going.
2. Why are we starting to compare home consoles to iPads? I'm not against considering the iPad a gaming device, in fact, I think it's a nice game device. But is not on the same level as a home console or PC. Gameplay wise, game quality wise, functionality wise, is not the same. Gaming is an option of the iPad. Gaming is the main purpose of a home console.

So, taking this 3 points, why the fuck is this Gibson claiming to avoid Nintendo stocks? I know it's just an advice, but this is part of the problem right here. Living up to rumors is not doing anything good to Nintendo. So they better step up, and cut that "We don't comment on rumor or speculation" and start bringing facts.
E3 is going to be wonderful btw.

Maybe not "exclusives" but Call of Duty (all but MW2), Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Skylanders, Spider-man..and many more..all sold great too (except DJ Hero)
They were also the firsts to release Wii games with DLC (Guitar Hero) and even allow patches (Black Ops).
Umm..that couldn't be further from the truth.
Activision? The same Activision that is selling fucktons of Skylanders with Wii as the leading SKU by far? That Activision?

I don't see how anything Apple has at the minute is a threat to Nintendo's home console market.
To be honest, I wouldn't invest in Nintendo right now either. I would risk it right before E3 in the off chance that they will rise after all the announcements.
You're right. But my point is that Nintendo is not doomed if they don't have any Activision games. Sure, they will be losing great amounts of money, but it's not their main source. Never was, never will.
I think a big part of Activision not involving has to do with the partnership that Nintendo has done with EA with their online service. And we all know that EA and Activision are not the best buds there.
Regarding this, online system, I'm terrified. This is what should people care about... not only raw power. If Nintendo misses this oportunity to make an open online console (that admits something like Steam), then... we can call it a day. If this console manages to be Origin only... then, it's all overat least for me
Have 'Nintendo' announced anything but Pikmin 3?Have they announced anything yet?
Nintendo's so bad at business they have $10 billion in the bank. That means they could hemorrhage $100 million a year and still not go bankrupt for 100 years.
DOOMED.
Numbers need updating.
Nintendo's cash stood at $7B last quarter. They ate through $3B in the last 9 months of 2011. That sort of burn rate certainly isn't lasting 100 years.

I just had that "Aha! Moment" where I suddenly realized how bizarre it is to be so emotionally attached to the performance of a corporate entity.
Carry on.

Has in any generation a vastly graphically inferior console outsold its competition by far, and made people feel insecure?Has any console received this kind of hate, loathing and backlash a whole fucking YEAR before it got released?
Is there any media outlet that has positive stance on the Wii U and is not nintendopower.com or some other fan site?

Except the press was high on the hog for PS2. For Wii, most have been singing of its demise since Day 1 and just seem to be continuing the tune with Wii U. This would've been like if they were decrying the PS2 its whole life for holding back the superior Xbox or something.
Sony won't explain what went wrong. Sony Computer Entertainment president Kazuo Hirai will say only that PlayStation2 is a "very complex machine that requires a lot of components." But the guessing in Japan is that the company botched the production of graphics chips. Skeptics in the gaming community are flooding the Internet with charges that Sony has created an artificial shortage in a calculated attempt to make PS2 this year's Furby, the gotta-have-it toy of the holiday season
Part of the reason for the underwhelming array of games, gamemakers say, is that PS2 is hard to program for. "The PS2 is definitely more powerful than Dreamcast," says John Carmack, the multimillionaire, ponytailed master gamer behind legendary shooters like Doom and Quake. "But it's less convenient to extract performance from it

Well there certainly wasn't much enthusiasm among the press in 2004 when Nintendo announced that their next handheld will have two screens.Has any console received this kind of hate, loathing and backlash a whole fucking YEAR before it got released?

I had this feeling when the Wii U was first shown last year. I felt no excitement, and then I wondered why I felt no excitement, and I thought it was my fault... when it wasn't. I hope Nintendo does well, but, for the first time in my following the company, I am fearful.
Big factor will be the pack in software they are necessarily going to include.
I don't know, man. N64 was also billed as "The Fun Machine".Fantastic point, and I agree. Though the N64 campaign, from what I remember, was clearly targeting the boys that grew up with the NES and now (then) fully expected some super-ULTRA pre-rendered stuff. So while the NES was the family-computer, and the SNES was more of that, the N64 seemed like it was a console trying to grow up with its customers and a direct shot at the SEGA ads (at teenage boys) running the previous generation.
It's pretty clear that Nintendo never tried that again.
Hmm? I think its fair to expect ww/vc to transfer to wii u as dsiw transferred to 3ds (dsi had no vc so nothing to transfer on that front). Probably no overlap like wii - 3ds or dsi - wii u though. But i agree that if they offer the same games they should transfer. However they seem to focus on having different catalogue on portables vs home.I hope that one day Ninty will allow universal VC gaming. I have zero interest in buying anything from Wii and 3DS stores because I know, those are the only machines the games will work on. And they are expensive as fuck (virtual console).

Well if WiiU wants to sell to non Nintendo fans in 2012, they really need COD: Black Ops 2 to be on par with 360, PC and ps3.
