In a USA Today story about Bob Iger taking over as CEO, an analyst makes a pitch for Disney's ESPN to "acquire World Wrestling Entertainment".

The comment came as part of a story outlining 10 priorities Iger should set for his first year. One of those priorities was "Tinker with the cable networks". ESPN is owned by Disney and has been a success, but the fear is that growth will level off as operators resist higher fees and Fox continues to expand on their sports networks.

One way to continue growth, according to Dennis McAlpine of McAlpine Associates, would be to go after WWE. "I'd like to see them acquire World Wrestling Entertainment or NASCAR if they could," said McAlpine.

No way would Vince sell the WWE. He's too much of an egomaniac to let someone else have a say in its operation.

I would totally mark out if Michael Eisner showed up at the press conference and said that he bought the rights to WCW.

....followed by Bob Iger attacking him with a chair, ripping off his suit to reveal a WWE t-shirt, then he, Roy Disney and Vince standing with arms raised over Eisner's prone and bleeding body while Iger screams, "IT WAS ME, EISNER! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!" That'd be cool.

I need to get out more, I think.

If WWE was on ESPN, does that mean Lawler and the King would get replaced by Wilbon and Kornheiser? Please acquire WWE Disney!

if that'd happen, i'd start watching the rasslin' religiously again. no matter how bad the content, those 2'll be able to make it more than watchable.
