But does anyone know if Nintendo is going to sell styluses or thumbpads separately for the DS? I believe my parents are unsure of investing in the unit for my little sister if both items can be easily lost and a pain to replace.

Nintendo has always been great about selling replacement parts,.

Styluses can be bought retail while the strap can be bought from Nintendo.com

I bought a slick light up belkin sytlus for mine.

Well, they're available online from Nintendo. And the DS comes with two styli (one's in the unit already). Not sure if/when they'll hit retail.

You can buy a pack of 3 Nintendo brand stylus pens and there will definitely be third party if not first party thumbstrap peripherals.
