Ancient Aliens: New Nin. 3DS now offers the best SNES emulation on any handheld

I'm getting a weird flickers black stream across the top of my screen in CATSFC. It almost looks like a VCR with dirty heads or misaligned tracking. Anyone see this issue?

It's new with the latest nightly, but I couldn't tell you when it was introduced; the previous nightly I had was from mid-November.

Edit: this doesn't show up in Pocketsnes, which runs FF6 a lot faster in fast forward mode than CATSFC does. Interesting.

IIRC the 2015-11-23 nightly is the last one without that issue. It affects gpSP as well. If you enable a video filter it disappears.

It was discussed a bit in the gbatemp retroarch thread but I don't think any devs were around to address it. I haven't kept up with it for the last couple of weeks so I'm not sure if there's hope of a fix.

Have there been many improvements since that release anyways? I haven't kept up but it sounds like there haven't really been any significant speed boosts considering the issues with nightlies since then.

Thanks dudes. Video filters kill performance though. Maybe turning vsync off will help with that; FF6 runs at like 120fps with vsync off.

(I keep bringing up FF6 as its my comfort food game. )

n3ds with cfw, retro arch installed as cia's

every game i've tried is locked at 60 fps except for star fox. even demanding ones like super mario rpg and ff6. this is using pocketsnes

I was thinking about selling my old 3DS and buy a New 3DS just because of emulation. But I don't like how 2D games looks when the screen is scrolling: the picture blurries, changing the colors when compared with a static image.

Does it really looks better with the New 3DS?

Nope you will still get that on some games, I try to ignore it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I _think_ what you're seeing is due to pixel interpolation, make sure the scaling is set to 1:1. Note well: To achieve this, you need to use an 8:7 aspect ratio, NOT 4:3. SNES games originally used rectangular pixels.

Nah, the screen just sucks, even with 1:1.

Not sure how much the response times vary from panel to panel or vendor to vendor with the different models of 3DS, but all LCD screens will have this problem with many 2D games to some extent. This is one reason people love CRTs, OLED, and Plasmas. The DS Lite and PSP were absolutely terrible by this measure. The non-backlit Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance were actually much better.

I installed Picodrive and CATSFC as CIAs (on A9LH on 10.7) but they both crash with "an error has occured". Anyone knows what could be wrong?

They work fine when launched from Homebrew Launcher though.

Hey guys,

I have this issue with Mame 2000 for 3ds, where if I load up a game and then close it. And then load up another second game, it loads the previous first game instead.

I tried it on both the latest Mame 2000 retroarch libretto 1.5 version and 1.3 version and get the same issue.

Any way to fix this? I don't have this problem with any of my other 3ds (Neogeo, snes, genesis, CPS1) emulators.
